The first instance of a severe threat to the world would have been the Berlin Wall. The howling wind was chilling. The dark sky showing no light. The footsteps of someone being covered by the wind. It is being torn down slowly in certain segments by this creature. A sulking human husk would be tearing the walls and eating the concreate as a treat. It would poke holes until one night a Soviet Rifleman fired a round, killing the man. As soviets approached it, the body would disintegrate. the allied forces all came to see what happened as well.
The army camps would all empty as two tanks pulled up and faced each other. The two would be shouting at each other and focused on the holes in the walls. The Soviets blamed the Allies for making holes in the wall with their rifles, causing the wall to crumble in places. The Allies would shout back, saying the only one who has fired any rounds were the soviets. The shouting would go until daybreak. Both sides not budging on what actually was happening. Both sides would inspect the wall and see that the holes were too big for bullets. The Soviets would blame the Allies for pounding holes in the wall with sledgehammers. The Allies would deny any involvement of breaking the wall. It would lead to the encroachment of the two world powers on the wall. More forces would be pooling in all across the wall. Ready to fight once the signal was given, luckily it was all solved when the rifleman said he shot a small rodent on the wall. Making the two world powers not clash. Each of them slowly backing away from the wall. The Soviets and Allies both patching up the wall.
In Vietnam, the Husk was able to roam freely. Summoning firestorms in each village that he walked into. Each sunny and perfect day would be ruined by the burning many of the villages in the north and south to the ground. Both sides would get reports of the same thing. A shadowy figure walking among them bursting into flame. Destroying everything in its path. Both sides came up with a plan to trap it and use it for themselves. In a North Vietnamese village, the Vietcong waited to catch. Preparing to flood the area in a massive tidal wave. It was a cloudy day and something was stirring in the shadows. Once the Husk entered and started ablaze. The tidal wave came crashing down. Drenching the area and snuffing out the Husk. They would look down in the valley with binoculars. Seeing a wisp of smoke spiral into thin air. They killed it instead of capturing it. At least they don't have to worry about this menace to their villages any longer.
The next time it showed up was in Tiananmen Square. A crystal clear day with a breathtaking blue sky. There was no clouds in the sky as the warmth of the sun warmed everyone packing the streets. The buildings striking out from the sky like silver fountains. Everyone in the uprising rallied behind one singular person. They all took to the streets at the same time. Protesting the current people in power. The government was not pleased and sent the military to break it up. The people would keep pushing forward. Resisting wave after wave that the government threw at them. They would send in a line of tanks, the people scattered as quickly as they could. Leaving one person to stand. Where this one man would stand in front of a tank. Demanding for them to pull back. The tanks refused. They weren't going to listen to some nobody. The man would look up apon the tanks. Punching the first one, sending it into the second. Charging in to attack the third one as it reels backwards. opening small arms fire onto the man. He was outrunning it. The tank was moving too slow. It got backed up too far as the man ripped the turret off the body of the tank. More tanks would flood in. The man would keep running around. When the next three would pinch the man into a trap. Firing rounds at him. Killing him instantly. The Chinese Communist Party would refuse to make a statement on what had happened.
However the final instance of this creature would come around the gulf war. A message was sent by the superhuman. He would be laced in a full black suit. stashing items and trading among the desert. Telling the US to not target him and he would not be a threat. The US saw this as a way to snuff out the final threat to their global superpower. Sending three full detachments to take care of it.
The Arabic desert was eerily quiet. As the man walked in the dark he would enjoy the silence, outside of the whispering winds among the dunes. Taking a second to breathe in the dusty air. Looking up to the sparkling sky he would enjoy the lovely view of the places he could explore. The full moon causing the dunes frozen in time to glow blue. The stillness of it all was unpleasant as the US forces slowly came to confront him. they would position themselves and prepare to engage. Once they were ready, the commander gave the signal.
The gunfire would rain like a hurricane. He was found out. The US was sending a large wave of manpower and vehicles at him. They would stand no chance as he looked at them. The bullets seemed to miss my millimeters. The Soldiers would stop firing for a moment. Looking apon the man dressed with class. "Aww, boys don't stop firing." He threw a object into the sky. "You are ruining my fun." The object would slowly fall as he pulled out a desert eagle and blew the object out of the sky. It flashing as bright as the sun. Temporality blinding all of the soldiers with their night vision goggles.
Looking at the lines of men that are all to die for a useless cause. How shameful. He would open fire turning the sand red and black as he got up close and personal. Firing often and true, blasting the heads off the American forces while physically beating them into a pulp. Each vehicle would drive blindly around to try and avoid him. It would lead to them ramming into each other and stalling out as the Shadow put explosives on each vehicle. Walking away from the scene he would blow it all to bits.
The three detachments ended up being unsuccessful, causing the US to pounce on them hard. Using Desert Storm as cover. They attacked him. "You guys never learn to not mess with those more powerful than you." He would see them going after him during the day. Smart for them, able to track him that much easier. he would hop around, taking down each regiment one by one.
"Too easy." As he was gunning down the Legion that surrounded him. Looking around no one could test his strength. With a bang from the background he felt his heart hop out of his body. Seeing a cavity where it normally lies. he looked behind him. Seeing a glare from the mountain. He aimed his pistol and fired. It would travel the distance and explode the skull of the sniper. He would look around and twist himself around.
"Now you all messed up." Dam human body being weak. Why is he limited to this? Looking next to him he would pick up a rifle and open fire onto the nearby platoon. Dropping them all like flies as the others turned his body into swiss cheese. He stood still for a moment before pitch black whips came out of all of the holes and struck everyone down. Collapsing to the ground he would close his eyes. His job was done.
Morning would come, then afternoon. The scorching temperatures and beating sun were immense. The dry air being the only relief among the dunes of sand. All that could be heard from the battlefield was silence. Nothing remained standing or operable as Anders came to the desert to look at the scene that was painted before her. Dressed in her white lab coat, hijab and jumpsuit. She would look across the desert and mountains while being escorted by three men. She would find the pool of darkness and look into it as it spoke to her. "Overlord wouldn't have mercy when he comes to claim your souls." The puddle formed a face to look apon them as it slowly evaporates into smoke.
Anders looked at this and would smile. Writing down Overlord onto the clipboard. "Well men, survey the area and the damages. Be careful of any traps and hidden explosives." She would snap a picture of the puddle before it fully vanished. They would go around each body and take pictures, those who died to bullet wounds looked like they bled out, and were decaying like normal bodies. The ones struck by the tendrils seemed to be pitch black, fully lacking any life in them. each body was carefully taken a photo of. Anders was all to familiar with death. Looking over to one of her men. "Can you touch one of the infected people?" She asked as the three men played nose goes, the loser walked over a body as anders walked over to watch. Holding a knife. "Touch it with your right index finger." The soldier had an audible gulp as he pulled off his glove, reaching down he would touch the pitch black skin.
Reeling back in pain, his finger turned black in an instant as Anders cut it immediately off. Letting it fall to the ground as the man dropped to the ground. "I am sorry for the loss of your finger, however, I will be using it to great effect. To find a cure." She would pull out some tongs as she put the finger into a beaker and sealed it. The four of them would move back into the humvee that they arrived in. Leaving the cleanup project for the other US troops. Then there was silence from Project Star.
