Chapter 49 - 48 - Evolution Paths

Nothing visually changed about his familiar, nor de it give off a different feeling or mana.

Victor checked it's information to make sure though.

The only change other than its stats increasing from the level up, was that it had reached Max level.

'This can't be it, are undead really just weak? No that's not possible.' Victor doubted himself for a spilt second be eliminated that thought right as it appeared.

After all even if others can't, doesn't mean you can't.

It was right at this moment he felt a pulse come from within himself that woke him up from his thoughts.

Sensing inside for the source of this fluctuations, he tracked it back to his Grimoire.

So he summoned it forth into his hands, only for it to immediately open by itself and start flipping through the pages before stopping.

| Familiars are the most important tool in any summoners Arsenal, this is even more so for a Necromancer. They can come in different races and types, but always share a few key points. This is even more highlighted for ?¿?¿?¿?¿, which allows for the Familiars to essentially have the ability to infinitely grow and evolve in certain set directions.

Because Familiars come in all different types for different purposes, they can all be differently modelled to be suitable for combat, magic, crafting or or purposes.

Usually they are used as servants, protectors, experiments, generals or combat.

So it is recommended to create them from the beginning for a certain purpose to maximise their potential.

Overall there abilities and potential is highly reliant upon their master, they are capable of being incredibly powerful, useful or useless |

On the next page was the information of his currently only Familiar with a another bit of info.

- Shield Skeleton - Combatibility High -

- Skeleton Thief - Combatibility Low -

- Skeleton Hunter- Combatibility Mid -

Upon seeing the list of different evolutions possible, Victor couldn't help but go into deep thought at seeing the options.

This would require him to think on his choice deeply before deciding, luckily he could see the names of the next evolution and the Combatibility of each choice.

Unfortunately he could only see the conditions to evolve each option only after he picked it.

Pulling out his phone he opened all of the already downloaded info on undead monsters he could access at his current authority.

"Let's see, skeletons, frail zombie, bone rat, rotten slapping.... There's nothing here on them..." Victor frowned at this complete lack of info on undead.

Especially when in his memory he can list dozens of different types of undead that never been mentioned or recorded.

Luckily from these options and the vision he saw when he got his class, he could confirm that at least some of the knowledge he possesses.

So he could make a somewhat informed decision on which path to pick.

"A magic Skeleton should be the prelude to magic type undead, like a skeleton mage or lesser lich." Victor sat down next to Michael before he started to write down his thoughts.

"Next is Skeleton Soldier which should evolve into a whole bunch of options like Skeleton swordsman or Skeleton Warrior. Which should fall under Melee type undead." Michael looked over in boredom but lost interest quite quickly.

"Shield Skeleton should be a defence type undead path, Thief should be a stealth but I don't really know what skeleton could be sneaky with all the noise and clumsiness."

"Finally the hunter choice should be a ranger path, like Skeleton archer, Bone Bowman, Shard Archer or umm.. oh Gost Ranger... Is it even a skeleton?" Victor stopped as the possibility of the skeleton turning into other types of undead didn't even cross his mind.

But if it was the cause then that was a whole another can of lava worms opened up.

"What's got you so stuck on?" Michael asked lazily while looking up at the clouds in the sky, interrupting Victor's thoughts.

"I'm thinking of the future as my next decision will effect everything." Victor replied but was still in deep thought.

"Why worry so much about the unknown, after all if you keep thinking on what you can't control then you won't have time for the now, so don't over think it Vic." Michael relaxed and closed his eyes while enjoying the warm sunlight.

"Hmm, don't get stuck on useless stuff huh..." Victor narrowed his eyes and focused on the Grimoire page in front of him for a few minutes before letting out a huge breath of air as he relaxed.

After picking what he thought was best.

[ Skeleton Soldier - Combatibility Superior ]

| Skeleton Soldiers is one of first advancements of a normal skeleton, giving it combat abilities and also increasing its stats and allowing it to learn combat skills |

• Requirements to Evolve: Max Lvl (10), have Slash Ability, get 50 kills with Slash 0/50 •

"Ok I guess I've got some work ahead of me." Victor sighed before standing up and prepared to move on to another area to advance his familiar.

"Well you have fun then." Michael waved Victor off as he took a rest.

Unfortunately for Victor he had to pass his old camp site, which even though it was void of people an unpleasant smell covered the area.

Which made Victor take a large detour around the area just to avoid the smell.

From there Victor just had his summon continue to slash it's sword, either when walking or fighting.

But no difference came until it fought against a Wild Boar, which was it's hardest fight by far.

As it's defence was just too tough for the poor skelly. At first when the battle commenced the huge difference between the two wasn't shown.

The boar charged straight forwards towards the familiar, ready to stab into the skeletons non existent flesh with its two tusks.

But luckily the skeleton dodged the attack, it's stats wasn't the only thing to increase as the familiars intelligence and ability to understand also increased, allowing it to move, fight and follow instructions better.

Victor had to fully control the weak skeletons with his own mana and metal strength, this allowed him to have better control over them but it came at the cost as he had to split his concentration.

On the other hand his other Summons had different degrees of intelligence, as both the wolf and rat could follow simple one or two word instructions while operating by themselves.

Allowing Victor to focus on other things but at the cost of being able to perform complicated orders.

But the familiar was special as it's intelligent grew with both it's strength and experience, allowing it to learn.

Like when you get hit it breaks you apart so move out of the way, after being told a few time by Victor.

So while it still was dumber than a 1 year old, it had room to learn and grow.

Back to the present after dodging the boar it slashed down with its sword, across the back of the boar.

However only a light laceration on its hide, so it effectively didn't do any damage.

Fortunately the familiar was able to dodge the boars charge, which was the pigs only attack.

So there was only two way for our little skelly too win, first cut thought the boars defence to kill it, and two which is basically to bleed the pig to death slowly.

Of course this is if it doesn't receive any help from Victor, but he wanted to push his familiar as he hoped that the struggle will help the little guy break the lock on itself.

And hopefully learn the slash skill, Victor stood back and watched the fight while in thought.

It kept on dodging any of the boars charge attacks while tempting to cut into the boar.

Victor frowned, he felt that there was weird fluctuations in his familiars mana and that it was close to stabilising.

If Victor could still see mana, then he would have seen formless mana slowly flowing into the sword but it would ultimately fail to condense properly.

The familiar had a tiny amount of control over its limited mana, so when it went into the sword it would lose all control over it, there by preventing it from fully learning the skill.

So it would essentially flow into the blade and its connection to the skeleton would break before defusing into the air.

But this was about to Change as unfortunately when avoiding another charge it's bone foot tripped on the uneven ground.

Making it fall and therefore unable to avoid the boar.

"Crash!" The collision smashed apart the left side of the familiars upper body, it's ribs and entire left arm was either broken or had bones sent flying.

"Hmm, I guess I'll need to see about taking it to a trainer.. but how do I even do that?" Upon seeing that his familiar had taken too much damage Victor went to to the boar himself.

But he froze in his tracks and turned to the now injured skeleton in shock.

The boar didn't give anyone anytime as it once again charged after turning around, heading right towards the now unstable skeleton in front of it, the boar slightly lowered it's head in preparation for the hit.

But it wasn't meat with the falling apart skeleton, no instead it was met with a blade slashing down upon it's head.

"Bang!" The boar charge was successful as the familiar was blown apart into flying bones from the impact.

But the boar had only taken one or two steps before it crashed into the ground and stopped walking.

Victor came to the boar to check and it was dead, the familiars sword was sticking out of the side of its head.

"Not bad." Victor turned to the spread bones of his familiar with a smile before raising his hand to send mana to help it rebuild itself.

What had happened was right in that instance before the boar's charge landed, the familiar was left without the option to avoid the attack.

This inability led to it taking that final step in controlling it's mana even if terribly this allowed it to barely succeed in learning the skill Slash.

Seeing that his familiar had fully rebuilt itself at the cost of around a fifth of his mana, Victor was happy.

"Now we can move on, let's see if we can evolve you before the exam finishes..."

(Author Here! If you have any ideas on nicknames for our good old skelly friend please let me know! :)

(Oh and I want there to be a huge amount of undead or undead like creatures and Summons. Now I already have a list of ideas but if you think of any or I've missed any please let me know.

As I want a huge variety of them either for Victor to create/control or just to appear in the story.

See you next time! :)
