Pain. My earliest recollections have been filled with nothing but pain. I was born on Earth with immense psychokinetic powers, the first and only of my kind. An anomaly who didn't belong in this realm. Torn from my parents at birth, their visage remains nothing but a blur in my mind. My birth caused an immense shift in the electromagnetic poles. A beacon, leading the government straight to me. Tragic really, everyone within a 30 mile radius wiped from existence by nuclear explosion. The lengths they went through to keep me from prying eyes, to monopolize my abilities. Hahahahahahaha, in the end, it doesn't even matter.
"Slap!" "All these years and you still try to resist, your efforts are futile!" My head recoils in pain, as my struggling ceases, I look at the scientist before me. A tall caucasian man standing 6 feet 5 inches, with greying hair slicked back and blue eyes that can pierce the soul. A badge reading Dr. Gero, rests on his pristine white lab coat. A terrifying scar paints his face from his right eye, down to his jugular. A fine handywork of mine if I do say so myself. I stare at him with extreme rage and hatred smoldering in my soul. "I swear on my soul, kill me now and spare yourselves, for the day I escape will be the pffft!" "Thwack!" A solid punch lands in the center of my face shattering my nose, stopping me from completing my words. Another scientist to the left of Dr. Gero looks at me with digust, wiping his hand of my blood. "Shut your goddamn mouth, you're nothing but a mere tool to be used for the advancement of humanity!" "Enough Gene!" says Dr. Gero, you've broken his nose, now he needs to go to med bay after the extraction." "Your pay will be docked accordingly." "My apologies Dr. Gero, It's just when he speaks of escape, I get this unnerving feeling in my gut, as if." "Enough!" Dr. Gero gives Gene a stern look. "Let alone escape, this thing can't hardly even move his limbs." Enough of your excuses, start the extraction process." "Yes sir."
I raise my head and observe what has become my personal hell, as I hang suspended and restrained in mid air. Blood drips from my nose down my chin, as I gaze at the countless faces in lab coats through the glass pane. As they scribble notes in their notepads, reading charts and machines, treating me less than a human, my animosity and malice intensifies. Soon, I will escape this nightmare.
After several clicks of buttons a large cord with a spiked tip descends from above approaching the rear of my skull. It looks like something ripped straight from the matrix. Pffft, in one swift motion, it pierces into the hole in the back of my skull. "Begin the extraction", declared Dr. Gero. "According the correlation over the last few sessions, we should continue to see a rise in the quality of energy extracted." Suddenly the cord roared to life spilling arcs of electricity from the back of my head. "Ahhhhhhhhhh!" I let loose a blood curdling scream. It feels as if my brain is being shredded down to its cellular structure. The pain intensifies second by second and it feels as if my entire being is torn and sliced apart into a trillion fragments, then burned in a scorching flame. No matter how many times I've suffered this torture, the pain is impossible to adapt to.
My powers grow with the more knowledge I gain. They found that out very early. Ever since then I've been stuffed with information ranging from math, language, and philosophy to genetic engineering, cybernetics, and quantum physics. Being filled with so much information combined with my abilities, I eventually developed eidetic memory and a dual mind. Unfortunately, this did nothing to ease my suffering as the torturous pain only increased in proportion to my knowledge and expanding energy. Despite my forceful education, the energy I contain fails to satiate their avarice.
"Ahhhhhhhhhh!" Finally after 12 hours of extraction, my energy has been fully drained. I go slack still suspended mid air, held in place by special cuffs designed to suppress my abilities, my throat sore and bleeding,. "Very interesting, according to the readings, the energy is undergoing a qualitative change and becoming more refined!" exclaimed Dr. Gero. "If this continues, humanity can take another step forward." "Gene, get patient zero directly to med bey, I don't want to see the next extraction date delayed." "Yes Dr." There will be next time I thought, as my vision went black.
I awake laying on a cold table, something I've become accustomed to over the years. I stare at the reflective ceiling taking in my appearance. Endless scars riddle my brown skin with patches displaced here and there. No doubt from the countless experiments and tortures I've suffered over the years. Especially terrifying, I'm missing half the front of my skull, leading to a crescent moon shaped head. The result of a botched escape attempt. My height at my peak was 6 feet 2 inches, however over the years I've become shriveled and emaciated losing 4 inches. As I observe my image, I hear footsteps approaching.
"Well Zero, looks like they've messed you up good this time." Sighed Dr. Richards. A short asain man I've encountered many times throughout my life, always managed to get me patched up after my near death experiences. The only one here who has a shred of sympathy. "This will start the healing process, and numb the pain, so just try and relax and let the process work." He injects a serum in me as the pains starts to fade. "How long do you think I have to live, after every extraction I feel death looming closer?" Dr. Richards looks at me and sighs, "With the way things are going, I'd say 9 months at best. We're on the cusp of replicating your abilities so you'll soon outlive your usefulness anyway. The higher will probably dispose of you then."
"Is that so?" suddenly a terrifying purple light radiates from my one eye, reflecting a pentagram pattern in the Doctors eyes. His body struggles for a half second then stiffens. As I look at Dr. Richards stiff body I let out a gruesome smile as I know my recently acquired power has succeeded, mind control! This is my last day in the hell hole, I think to myself, as I mentally command the Doctor to release my restraints.
