Chapter 16 - Grandma Wants to Meet You

She paid for his grandmother's treatment, with a condition—the boy had to learn a skill and stop engaging in deceitful activities. But what Ning Zhi didn't expect was that the boy had talent, and in less than two years he became a master in computers and a skilled hacker.

It was all thanks to him that Ning Zhi was able to obtain the surveillance footage and the computer IP.

[Be good. I'll come back to see both of you in a couple of days.]

Suddenly, a thud sounded from behind Ning Zhi. She turned around and almost had a heart attack. An elderly person had collapsed in the middle of the road.

The sound of a car honking was coming from not far away.

Without hesitation, Ning Zhi dropped what she was holding and hurried toward the middle of the road, managing to pull the elderly away just in time.

"Medicine… medicine…" The elderly muttered as she pointed at her chest with a trembling finger.

"Granny, don't be anxious. I'll get you the medicine!" Ning Zhi leaned the elderly woman against herself and then fed the pill. Finally, she heaved a sigh of relief.

After a short while, the elderly woman regained her senses. Ning Zhi picked up the vegetables and fruits that she had thrown on the ground while saving the elderly and asked for the contact information of the elderly woman's family. She was really worried about the elderly woman going back on her own.

"Child, thank you. If not for you, I would have lost my life." The woman reached out and held Ning Zhi's hand, her eyes filled with tears.

"Granny, as long as you're fine!"

"But you injured yourself while saving me." The elderly woman looked at Ning Zhi's leg with concern.

Only then did Ning Zhi realize the small wound on her leg.

"It's fine, just a small injury." Ning Zhi smiled and waved her hand.

A foreigner got out of a black SUV not far away.

The foreigner had curly hair, was blond, and blue-eyed ran over with a serious expression.

Unexpectedly, he spoke in French, admonishing the elderly woman for not bringing him along and expressing his worry.

"What have you done? She just fainted. I suggest you take her to the hospital instead of blaming her here." Ning Zhi spoke up, surprising both the elderly woman and the foreigner.

"You speak French?" The elderly woman was amazed.

"I've learned a little." It was when Li Yan took her on a business trip to Europe and made her learn it. However, Ning Zhi did not like to give up halfway, so she continued learning on her own after mastering the basics.

"This child's name is Mai Kou, and he doesn't speak Mandarin. I've always taken care of him since he was young, so he worries about me. His tone was a little harsh, but don't take it to heart." The elderly woman was helped by the foreign man.

"By the way, what's your name? Can you tell me?" She took a few steps but then stopped and asked Ning Zhi.

"My name is Ning Zhi."

"We'll meet again if fate allows. Thank you." The elderly woman got into the jeep with the man's help.

Ning Zhi watched her leave before she felt a slight pain in her stomach.

Oh no, could it be that she strained while pulling the elderly woman just now? Ning Zhi was worried and quickly made an appointment with the doctor. She cherished this child.

Fortunately, there was nothing serious. The doctor advised her to avoid fluctuations in her emotions, pay attention to her diet and get enough sleep.

Ning Zhi took out her notebook and meticulously recorded every word the doctor said, afraid of missing any details.

The next day, Ning Zhi slept until noon. Yesterday's events drained her physical and mental energy.

Ning Zhi checked her phone and found that Li Yan had called her countless times and sent messages on WeChat.

Following the doctor's advice to maintain a calm state of mind, Ning Zhi had no intention of responding to him. However, in the next second, Li Yan's message caught her attention: [Grandma wants to see you.]

This grandma was Li Yan's grandmother, who had been a formidable figure in the business world and played a significant role in developing the Li Corporation to its current state.

Unfortunately, as she grew older, she had Alzheimer's disease and now required care like a child.

Once, when Li Yan had something urgent to attend to, he asked Ning Zhi to visit his grandmother in the nursing home. Unexpectedly, his usually confused grandmother became clear-headed upon seeing Ning Zhi and even grew fond of her.

Even though she would often become muddle-headed afterward, she would constantly mention "Ningning, Ningning."

Therefore, Ning Zhi started visiting his grandmother regularly at the nursing home. Due to her grandmother, Ning Zhi developed a special consideration for elderly people.

Especially after her grandmother passed away, Ning Zhi seemed to have transferred her feelings for her grandmother to Grandmother Li and grew close to her.
