Chapter 18 - conspiracy

Soon, a divine mage arrived, commanding the respect of everyone who laid eyes on him. They all bowed in reverence.

The mage appeared as a beautiful woman, her attire was ordinary, resembling that of a mortal. After exchanging greetings, the mage approached the portal and entered it.

Inside the portal, the rank 15 unification mage surveyed the surroundings. It was enveloped in pitch darkness, and an ominous presence of numerous monsters lingered in the air. Some of these creatures were on par with rank 12 mages in terms of strength.

Fascinated by the potential for plundering in this world, the unification mage cast a spell called "Eternal Illumination."

In an instant, the darkness dissipated, and the entire world was bathed in bright light. Not stopping there, she proceeded to cast another spell known as "Divine Map."

A detailed map of the entire world materialized in her hand, encompassing information on monster locations, rare resources, and astonishingly, it had the feature of real-time updates.

Exiting the portal, the mage handed the map to Green. Without uttering a word, Green bowed in acknowledgement. The unification mage entrusted the task of exploring the world to Mage Green, as she had more pressing matters to attend to.

Mage Green went in and focused his attention on the rank 12 monster standing before him. It was a massive, muscular creature resembling a nine-headed wolf. Assessing the situation, Greene realized the imminent trouble he faced. Acting swiftly, he cast the spell "Ice Shield." However, the monster swiped at the shield with a single paw, causing cracks to form, nearly breaking it.

Witnessing this, Mage Green quickly cast another spell, "Wood: Tree Monster."

A colossal, seemingly endless tree emerged, swaying with motion. Without hesitation, Mage Green leaped onto one of its branches, taking a strategic position.

The monstrous creature let out a deafening roar and lunged at the tree, attempting to bite it. Its teeth pierced deep into the wood but proved incapable of severing it.

The size of the monster was comparable to that of a small planet, engaged in a titanic battle against the towering tree, whose apex disappeared into the unknown. The intensity of this clash was so immense that even a mage at the second step would perish just by gazing upon it.

Fortunately, the pioneering mages present were at the third step and sprang into action.

They swiftly moved to designated positions, gradually forming a specific formation. In unison, they called out, "Suppression!" The formation resounded with a thunderous roar, and the monster began to diminish in size. It shrank by 5% before coming to a halt.

Mage Blue clenched his teeth and grimly remarked, "No good, this monster is a quasi-rank 13!" He was reluctant to seek assistance, considering that mages were spread thin, each with their own tasks to fulfill.

However, under the circumstances, there was no alternative. This monster was just one of the rank 12 creatures present in this world.

The unification mage had confirmed that there were no rank 13 beings in existence.

Nevertheless, these formidable rank 12 beasts posed a significant threat, compelling them to seek the aid of a rank 13 mage.

Mage green reached out to the Mysterious mage, Shield Attacker, who was rank 13.

However, Shield Attacker informed him of that he had a busy schedule and offered to send a clone in a week's time.

Mage Greene gritted his teeth and resolved to buy time for one week.

He cast another spell, "Wood: Ultimate Prison."

Thick tree trunks materialized from all directions, encasing the beast in an inescapable prison.

However, the creature, with its nine heads, relentlessly gnashed its teeth against the tree trunks, striving to break free.

The formation intensified their efforts, causing the beast's size to shrink by an additional 2%.

But their efforts were in vain, as the pioneer mages were only rank 11 and too weak to significantly affect the strength of the monster.

Mage Green let out a sigh and retrieved an item from his possession. It took the form of a flower and appeared harmless at first glance.

However, when Mage Green threw the flower onto the wooden prison, its power was greatly enhanced. The prison became extremely sturdy, rendering the beast unable to bite through it. The creature let out a scream as its teeth shattered upon attempting to gnaw at the wood.

Mage Greene thought to himself, "This flower was given to me by Master YinYang Flower, and now I've wasted Yin Flower on this foolish beast. What a shame."

The Yin Yang flowers, when used together, could withstand the attack of a rank 14 mage. However, when used alone, it could only resist up to rank 13.

The beast roared and struggled within the wooden prison.

Angered by the situation, Mage Green cast a spell, "Sharp Pencil." An incredibly sharp piece of wood materialized and struck the beast in its right eye, eliciting an ear-piercing scream.

Unable to dodge due to the wooden prison, the creature became blind in one eye of one of its heads. Mage Green continued his onslaught, blinding all of the beast's eyes one by one. The creature screamed in agony but remained immobilized.

Mage Green then cast another spell, "Wood: Sharp Spear."

A remarkably long and sharp wooden spear emerged and swiftly moved towards the beast's heart. However, upon impact, the spear broke and failed to harm the creature.

Greene let out a sigh. As a defensive mage, he was unable to penetrate its defense.

According to his calculations, this beast was the strongest in the world, and once it perished, the others would be easier to eliminate.

At that moment, the sound of wolves echoed from a distance. Mage Green used his magical sense and observed over 10 rank 12 wolves and numerous rank 11 wolves approaching.

"Why did Master Unification leave me alone here? I'm not the opponent of all these!" He doubted the motives of the Unification Mage.

Immediately, he tried to run from the portal, but to his shock, the portal was nowhere to be seen.

In the mage world

A few moments ago

Hao Gongming's clone was looking at the portal and maintaining it. Suddenly, she felt a coldness, and before she knew it, she lost consciousness. The portal collapsed immediately.

In the beast world

Mage Green thought to himself, "This is definitely a conspiracy! Mages couldn't kill each other according to an agreement guaranteed by a Twister Mage. However, higher-level mages could order lower-level mages to do things as long as the mission wasn't suicidal. In practice, if any mage above rank 11 dies, there would be a trial witnessed by a Twister Mage to decide guilt and punishment. For this reason, there are very few conspiracies in the mage world."

Mage Greene's brain began to work fast, "Who wants to kill me? Who?"

He once offended the mysterious Mage Blue, but that was thousands of years ago!

"Who wants to kill me?" he screamed. A lot of wolves came in his direction and started attacking.

The pioneer mages screamed and all died under the attack of rank 12 monsters. The formation was destroyed, and the quasi rank 13 wolf grew stronger but still couldn't free itself from the wooden prison. A rank 12 wolf bit at Mage Green.

Mage Greene cast a spell, "Wood: Transformation!"

His target was the wolf. The wolves turned into wood and stopped, resembling wooden sculptures.

Another rank 12 wolf tried to bite him, but he barely dodged.

However, five other rank 12 wolves came from all directions!

Mage Green gritted his teeth and cast "Absolute Wooden Shield," then used the Yang Flower on it.

All the rank 12 wolves tried to bite the shield, which looked like a big ball with Mage Green in the middle, but all their teeth broke when they attempted to bite!

But they weren't the only monsters in the area.

After the wolves ran away and attempted to help their leader get free, other rank 12 monsters like lions, tigers, and eagles appeared and tried attacking the wooden shield.

Strangely, none of the beasts attacked each other. It was as if their sole target was mage green.

Mage Green's forehead was covered in cold sweat.

At this rate, even if the Yang Flower could withstand the attack of a rank 13, with the onslaught of hundreds of rank 12 creatures, it would only take a few days to break the defense.

"Please, mysterious mage shield attacker, come here faster!"

Mage Green started contacting everyone he knew, but realized that his communication spells didn't work. "Damn it! It's definitely a high-ranking mage who is trying to kill me. Damn it!"

He was desperate now and could only pray that the mysterious mage shield attacker would arrive soon.

...

Hao Gongming appeared and saw her clone unconscious.

She pondered for a moment, and the clone disappeared, transferring the memories to her.

"Interesting."

Then she summoned another clone, and the clone opened a portal to the monster world once again. Hao Gongming entered and was immediately greeted by a multitude of monsters.

"What the hell is going on?" she exclaimed, astonished at the scene.

There were so many different kinds of monsters, each emitting a terrifying aura. There was a massive tree so tall that its end couldn't be seen, along with other breathtaking sights.

A rank 12 tiger sensed her and attacked her with a paw!

Hao Gongming immediately used her ultimate defense, which could withstand attacks from a third-layer detachment realm.

However, in the face of this paw, her defense was like paper! It was effortlessly torn apart, and Hao Gongming died instantly. The tiger then turned its gaze towards the portal and attempted to enter.

The clone, which had switched places with Hao Gongming's main body, did not stop the tiger and allowed it to enter the mage world. The tiger entered Division B96i and began wreaking havoc all around. Many other monsters were also attracted and started entering the mage world.

...

At the Mage Headquarters in B96i, Worldunity01 looked on with cold sweat and immediately contacted Mage Blue. Upon hearing the situation, Mage Blue didn't hesitate. He couldn't allow any damage to the division.

Mage Blue cast "Space: Lock." Instantly, all monsters froze, and no other creatures could enter through the portal because the space leading to the portal was locked.

Then Mage Blue cast "Spacetime: A while ago." Everything disappeared and reappeared where they were a few minutes ago, except for the portal.

However, after a while, the portal, which nobody was maintaining, crumbled.

Mage Blue looked around and couldn't find Hao Gongming. "This portal... it can resist my spell!"

...

Hao Gongming was preparing to go to her clone that had been knocked unconscious when she suddenly felt her clone disappear on its own. "What? Did it die? What happened?"

She started asking her other clones, and after a while, she realized that she was missing a few minutes of her memory!

A few minutes had been lost. This mage world was so powerful that it could interfere with her memory. She decided to never personally go there again and always use clones.
