Chereads / My Secret: A Gift or A Curse? / Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Axel

Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Axel

I got to admit. The date my mother set up for me is not bad. She is a real beauty with a nice personality. She's actually funny and kind, not stuck up, like the past women my mother set up for me.

As we approach the table in a private area, I pulled back the chair for my date and pushed her in as she sat down.

"Thank you, Axel." She said sweetly. It's hard to not notice how bright her smile is. It seems my mother picked a good data for the first time.

"You're welcome." After that, I didn't say anything back. It was quiet. The atmosphere felt awkward. I don't know how to start the conversation.

"So...how's everything going?" I looked at her with a rise eyebrow. I'm kinda glad she started the conversation first.

"Good. Busy." I said monotone. My one-word answers killed what little flame there was to be, not as awkward with each other. I'm looking at the menu, pretending to look at what I want to order. "I just what this date to end already," I thought to myself.

" I have no interest in being with you." That caught me off guard that I halt what whatever little movements I was doing. Moving my attention off the menu to her, I just looked at her. Waiting for Rosa to repeat herself.

She smiled gently at me before speaking.

" I have no attention of dating you, so you have nothing to worry about."

It would be the first time a woman has ever been this calm and doesn't have an interest in me. I don't know how to feel about that.

" And I you. Thank you for making it easy for both of us." She laughed and I have to admit, the sound was warm.

"Yes! Truth be told I already have someone I'm in love with." I couldn't help having a confused expression on my face.

"I know what you're thinking. I only agreed because I was curious about what the great Axel Wolf was like. And I was forced to come, by my agent." She smiled innocently.

"What are they like?" I was genuinely curious. I don't blame her for being surprised, even I surprised myself with that question.

As she was deep in thought, the light on her face, the soft expression she made, small smile but with so much admiration in her eyes. You can tell that her love for that person was like a destine soulmate.

It made me be reminded of a certain DJ at a nightclub.

"A field of butterflies in a land of dandelions." I stared at her. Not knowing what to say. Never in my life have anyone described someone as pure and beautiful.

But at the same time, I can understand. Is that the feeling that he gives me? I mean that description just hit the target. He seems a little darker than that though.

Yet, I have always admired the night.

Usually, when someone is describing their love it would just be something like, " I can't live without them" or "My other half" or the most common "They are different." I don't know what to think.

It would be stupid of me to feel a little envious of that type of love, but then again I vowed to never be tricked again but since I lead my eyes on him, I can't help but think if he is my LinkSoul. However, I won't know since he keeps running away from me.

" I respect that." And I really do. " How did you two meet?" I'm curious about how their love came to be pure.

"Oh! Does the great Axel Wolf love romance!?" Rosa said with a teasing tone. I just stared at her with a blank face. Wanting her to just answer my question.

She laughed. "Sorry, I had to." I sat up straighter. Waiting.

"He is actually a janitor at my workplace and he is my LinkSoul." I couldn't hide my surprise but she just smiled big. She said that with so much confidence that my respect for her is impressive.

" But I was the one to make the first move. Surprising, right?" I nodded, and she continue.

" I don't know what was about him. The way he kept to himself, how his presence could change from invisible to imitating so fast, how gentle and kind he is even when his words don't match his actions, or maybe for helping me so many times that I couldn't even keep count" she said with so much fondness.

Do you know how a mother looks at their child with so much love, and so much adoration that they can't believe they exist? That's exactly how Rosa looks.

"But he doesn't want to believe we are LinkSouls because of how different in status we are." She said with a pained smile.

"What do you mean?" I couldn't help to ask.

" A model and janitor are not exactly common you hear."

That's true, I can see why he would try to deny it. If her fans found out it can cause a problem and he would be in the middle of it.

"But that does not stop me from courting him every chance I get." She was so confident.

I looked back down. I didn't ask any more questions. Love like that is rare. I wonder if my parent's love for each other is like that.

" Let's eat." And with that, we went on about our "date" in a comfortable silence with short conversations here and there.

After the meal. I paid and we left. As we were walking, to leave the restaurant, we were just having a small exchange. I can honestly say this has been a calming and less stressful date I ever been on.

" And after I hurt my ankle he...HUMPH!" she got cut off, stumbling.

I quickly caught her before she fell.

As I was about to yell at the bastard, I stop dead in my tracks when I saw who it was. Rosa is still in my arms.

" Oh shit, my bad. Are you okay?" the man hurried out.

"You idiot! Watch where you walk, Tanner!" Said the beautiful DJ boy. Seeing him with lights around made it easier to see him.

It's like everything around me just disappeared, Rosa, the man's name I learned to be Tanner, and even the background noises disappeared. It was just him in my sight.

In all honesty, I hoped to just have one last glance at him. Favor is on my side it seems. I should thank my mother the next time I see her.
