A few days later.
The weekend of the Teen Titans came to an end, and the Titans Tower became much quieter.
During this time, Nightwing observed every training session of the Titans and occasionally made suggestions. Tim often countered these suggestions.
And then the two would start arguing. Sometimes Nightwing would win, sometimes Tim would. But most of the time, the training plan improved gradually through their debates.
Conner wasn't a fan of studying. Every Friday evening, he'd frantically rush through his homework because he had to submit it to Superman in Smallville before 9 o'clock. For this, he often fell victim to Bart's pranks, which slowed down his progress.
Tim, on the other hand, was a good student but whether he did his homework depended entirely on his mood. However, in most cases, he had already completed all his tasks before school ended on Friday.
Cassie was currently on a leave of absence from school and didn't have to worry about these issues.
As for Bart, after memorizing all the knowledge in the San Francisco Library's collection, middle school assignments were a piece of cake for him. He didn't even need a second for them.
Unlike the others, Yuri spent most of his time deepening his knowledge of Gray Matter's technology in the Star Labs. He hoped that one day he would be able to delve into the underlying logic of Gray Matter. He only returned to the Titans Tower at night.
Occasionally, Yuri would also help the Star Labs with some complex extraterrestrial technology decryption work. Although it was low-level technology that Gray Matter could understand at a glance, it was enough to make Yuri's name spread within the Star Labs.
Raven's situation was similar to Yuri's. She lived in seclusion and spent her days and nights locked in her room. No one knew what she was doing in there.
Starfire was fully devoted to tending to her small garden. Those Tamaranean plants were the things she cared about the most on this planet. Apart from that, she also enjoyed her time with Nightwing, who was in the honeymoon phase of their relationship.
Gar remained the same, forever fascinated by the beauty of nature. Besides that, he frequently posted videos of his carefully crafted vegetarian dishes on YouTube. His fanbase was steadily growing during this time.
As the Teen Titans returned to their own homes, Nightwing also set off for Blüdhaven.
For a time, San Francisco remained calm, with no major events occurring.
Ever since Raven joined the Teen Titans, Yuri had worried that the followers of Trigon might launch a massive invasion to try to reclaim her. However, things didn't seem so dire now.
The Justice League and the Titans were currently investigating the activities of the Church of Blood. They had discovered signs of church activity around the world, and after a series of raids on three strongholds, the church had temporarily gone underground.
In Washington, D.C., at the Capitol Building.
A briefing by the Justice League for Congress was underway.
Dozens of congressmen and congresswomen sat in a circular hall, all looking down at Steve Trevor, who was reporting on the recent achievements of the Justice League and the Meta-Human Protection Agency.
Invited media reporters sat in the audience, and cameras were focused on Steve Trevor, with several TV stations broadcasting the event live.
Clearly, the congressmen and women were not interested in the League's actions against the cult.
After Trevor finished his report, a portly congressman with glasses raised his hand to ask a question.
"Colonel Trevor, why hasn't the Justice League expanded its membership?"
"I apologize, Congressman, but I don't quite understand your question. The League has been expanding its roster in recent years, and we now have over fifty superheroes as candidates for the Justice League."
Trevor replied calmly.
"Candidates! That's the problem!"
The portly congressman looked stern, saying, "I'm referring to full-fledged members, those who can ascend to that damned satellite of theirs!"
"The Watchtower doesn't need additional members, and the League has no plans to expand."
Don't be fooled by Trevor's rank; even facing a group of congressmen, he had no intention of saying anything that would please this bunch.
"The Justice League is a tightly coordinated group, and the addition of any extra personnel could disrupt their cohesion."
At this point, another congressman spoke up.
"You're right, Colonel Trevor. Everyone in this world knows they're close friends, and we understand that too. But—"
This was an elderly female senator, with long gray hair, speaking in a friendly tone to Trevor.
"Long periods without fresh blood can lead to stagnation. Trying to accept a new friend might not be an unwise choice."
"Are you suggesting that you want to insert someone of your choosing into the League?"
Trevor narrowed his eyes slightly. "Forgive me for being blunt, but the Justice League won't agree. If they don't agree, then everything we're discussing today is meaningless."
"Colonel Trevor, your attitude always makes me wonder if you're so biased towards the Justice League because of your relationship with Wonder Woman."
Seeing that persuasion was not working, the female senator's tone suddenly sharpened.
"My relationship with Wonder Woman is strictly professional, Madam Senator."
Trevor's expression turned serious.
"Your words are completely contrary to the rumors, and you are the first 'male' she has ever been seen with."
"I am, so what?"
Trevor looked completely unfazed.
"We've requested the League's intervention several times, Colonel Trevor. When they talk to us, they're always disdainful. Yes, they are living myths, and we are just ordinary people. It's normal for them to have such an attitude."
At this point, the previously portly congressman couldn't hold back.
"But you need to understand that their satellite hovers right above our heads, and we can't even detect the satellite's location. They're not being open with us enough."
"No one has ever gone up to the Watchtower, Colonel Trevor, including you."
Trevor nodded. "I haven't been up there."
"Why not?"
At the question, Trevor smiled and replied, "Because they haven't invited us."
"But we want to know what's up there, Trevor. We need to find out what the Justice League is doing inside that satellite!"
The portly congressman passionately spoke, striking a chord with other members.
"We invest billions of dollars each year into the Justice League and others. We provide them with every convenience and overlook the financial losses they cause. Yet, we don't even have a certain degree of control?"
Trevor's face turned cold, and he raised his voice. "They are the greatest heroes in the world, and no one can control them. Not a single one!"
"But, I can convey your intention to control them to the League. I believe their reaction will be quite interesting."
"This sounds like a threat, Colonel!"
The portly congressman slammed his hand on the table in anger.
"Then it is a threat!"
Trevor confronted them. "If you don't trust the League, rest assured, they won't trust you either!"
"Imagine what Superman could discover with his X-ray vision in your offices or homes."
With that statement, the entire room fell silent.
