I waved to Azger as they sunk into the ground, now back on Earth at their house. We had left Kuxar as soon as the sun started to rise there, timing our departure to prevent Luc's death in the other realm. It had been something of an awkward wait until then, with Azger interrupting our moment to tell Luc what had happened during the execution. He had released me at the first sign of his older sibling noticing us, and I couldn't help the disappointment that had filled me.
Azger merely smiled at me, chuckling to themselves as they disappeared into their portal back to the Underworld. As soon as they were gone, I turned to face Luc, who had shifted back into his male form once we returned to the house. He was still wearing his casual clothing and for a moment, we merely stood awkwardly in the garage. Even though it was now sunset, Luc still seemed reluctant to enter the house and I coughed, trying to break the silence.
