Bibliotheca Monstrorum - Library of Monsters

1. Veros

Veros are wolf-like monsters. They hunt in packs, often taking down prey larger than themselves. Adventurers are no exception. They are individually weak, mostly at E-Rank, but a group is considered D-Ranked. They are very intelligent monsters, using coordinating tactics to ambush prey.

Threat Level =E-Rank

2. Ozrax

Ozrax is omnivores of a milder nature than most monsters around Ancdam territory. Having poor eyesight, it relies on its thick hide to deter predators and protect itself. Its defenses render blades useless, and only blunt-type attacks proved to be effective to these beasts. In battle, Ozrax would charge its adversary with its rock-hard skull packed with three-pronged horns.

Threat Level = D-Rank

3. Tradileks

Blood-shot eyes, reptilian scales, razor-sharp teeth, and claws. Tradileks, an agile beast the size of a large dog, is known for its aggressive nature that stands out from the other monsters in the area. Despite their small size, these monsters are classified individually as E-rank monsters, but a group of three to four is considered to be a D-rank. It's not their rank, their appetite, or even the fact that they hunt in packs that make them extremely dangerous. Their saliva is coated with necro toxins, capable of destroying even the toughest monsters from within.

Threat Level = E-Rank

4. Curse Creeps

Curse creeps are ghast-like monsters known to roam the destroyed city of Illford, part of the then Empire of Vlad-Encvil. Its semi-transparent body allows it to blend into its surroundings, ambushing unsuspecting prey or adventurer. After death, its hide retains this ability and is often crafted into cloaks used for concealment.

Threat Level = D-Rank

5. Unknown Monster #1 (yet to be named)

"With a metallic green body, the creature was easily five (5) meters tall. Its hunched figure shows two large front legs, each equipped with razor-sharp claws. Its mane stretches from its nape all the way to its back. Its skin is visibly loose, with some portions hanging only by a few threads. Its belly is bare, and what seems to be bandages are wrapped around it. Its head the size of a bull, bears four eyes, three on the left and one large one on the right. With a mouthful of sharp teeth, its jaw can be dislocated at will to accommodate larger prey, much like how a snake would swallow its prey whole." - Fei Guillard.

During the battle with Eisen, the monster exhibited evolutionary capabilities. It can fully regenerate itself after being sliced into pieces in mere seconds. In exchange for its size (mass), the creature gains tremendous strength and speed. Capable of lightning magic, the monster is proficient in both close and ranged combat. The number of times it can regenerate itself is not infinite and supposedly reaches its limit at human size.

Threat Level (basic) = C-Rank

Threat Level (mutated) = pseudo-B+-Rank

6. Hargas

Hargas are bipedal lizard-type monsters capable of wielding nature-type weapons. They vary in form and size, but the majority of them are reminiscent of crocodilians. Their large bodies are protected by reptilian scales, while their tails double-function as a club that they would use during close-quarters combat. They are solitary monsters, mostly keeping to themselves, except during the mating season, when the males would be fighting for the right to a female. Fatalities during these battles are fairly common, leaving only the strongest individuals to propagate their bloodline.

Threat Level = D-Rank

7. Chimera

A beast formed by combining different monster parts into one, dominant monster that serves as the base. A chimera's strength is equivalent to he strength of its combined parts. However, stronger chimeras are often observed to grow horns, and the more horns a chimera has, the stronger it was.

Threat Level (basic) = B-Rank

8. Jozus

Jozus are deer-like monsters identifiable by their two heads. Each of its heads is capable of creating its own unique magic, so facing against one is more like facing against two. Males of the species have larger antlers. A herd of Jozus is usually led by one male Jozus and several females. They are extremely wary of slight noises, and their double heads make it easier for them to spot predators from afar.

Threat Level = D-Rank

9. Slimes

Slimes are a common monster. Having a semi-liquid body, it is almost invulnerable to any sort of physical and blunt attacks. Piercing and magic are the tested effective ways to destroy their magic cores, which they can freely move around their body. Their digestive juices are so strong that they are known to quickly dissolve a carcass twice its size in less than 10 minutes. Given their gel-like bodies, they are weak against larger masses of liquid, such as water from rivers and other sources. Upon contact with this, their bodies will continuously expand before exploding.

Threat Level = D-Rank

10. Korvacs

Standing about two meters tall, their tail length twice as long as their body, these bipedal reptilians are voracious predators that are usually seen deeper within the Northern Province. Their arms and feet are equipped with claws about 4 inches long. But this is not what makes them a threat. Their herding behavior, and speed when charging are leagues above other monsters. Their heads are protected by a thick scaly dome equipped with spikes at the end.

Threat Level = C-Rank

11. Skoogs

Balloon-like monsters that are freely floating in the air column. They are floaters, not flyers, and can only move in the direction where the wind is blowing. They have tinger-like tentacles underneath them that will wrap around any unsuspecting prey. They are known as non-picky eaters, mostly feeding on plant materials but may seldom prey on smaller species of monsters.

Threat Level = E-Rank

12. Kaltharons

Kaltharons are monsters that closely resemble rabbits. They have a drill-shaped horn on top of their skulls that they use to defend themselves. Often found in groups, they would defend their young so ferociously that they sometimes lose their life in the process.

Threat Level = E-Rank

13. Aarvos

Small, humanoid-type monsters that are capable of conjuring basic spells and using Nature weapons to their advantage. There are, in records, some individuals of this species that were able to cast advanced and even high levels of magic. They are usually taken care of whenever a small camp of them is found, as a large number of them may pose a serious threat to an undefended city, or village.

Threat Level = D-Rank

14. Amarjago

A large, ape-like monster that inhabits cold, mountainous regions. Having a strict carnivorous diet, they are ferocious and will attack almost anything that crosses their paths. Due to their aggressiveness, fights among the same species over territory are common, often leading to fatalities on the losers' side. They are intelligent creatures, and will often use trickery and tools when fighting, as exhibited by their reputation as a "C-rank party killer".

Threat Level = B-Rank

15. Kraken

A sea monster resembling a giant squid. Using its giant tentacles and vice-like suckers, it is told to drag ships to the bottom of the ocean floor, never to be seen again.

Threat Level = B-Rank

16. Tyrant Mowla

A giant centipede that inhabited the abandoned mine in the North.

Threat Level = B-Rank

17. Necromancer

A monster that can create an army of undead, raising them from the remains of fallen monsters and humans. If given the chance, a single Necromancer may even threaten the safety of a kingdom. Immediate subjugation upon sighting is the general rule of thumb when facing this monster.

18. Gargoyles

19. Bone Dragon

20. Tootles

Fei coined the term for the rat-like monsters that they've encountered in Presling Grove while out on a mission with Eisen. These monsters are known to congregate in large groups, sometimes reaching hundreds of individuals in a single territory. They use their tails that extend like tentacles to overwhelm their prey.

Threat Level = B-Rank

21. Squibbles

Squirrel-like monsters are commonly seen in trees in the north-eastern side of Ancdam. To keep their incisors sharp, they would pick out animal bones and chew on them.

22. Lava Wyrms

A serpent-like monster that treats the molten rocks as their home.
