"Lu..Luke, What are you doing here!" Linda asked in full panic mode.
For someone smart like her, it was a very dumb question to ask, but who could blame her.
If you dated a guy for a month who only owned a cafe, did nothing with literally no customers and income, with no ambition or passion to achieve anything then suddenly you find him on the seat of the most powerful man in the world.
Nothing in the world can prepare you for that.
"What do you mean what's he doing here? Can't you tell his in the chairman seat?
He's literally seating in the main seat, who do you think he is? The middle aged woman with makeup said annoyingly.
Luke was expressionless as he glanced at his watch, " I don't have all day Mr Smith!" he said in a low voice but was enough to wake Shawn out from his daze.
Shawn felt his world crushing. He had always felt a sense of accomplishment after Linda had used Luke to bait him.
Make no mistake, Luke was an extremely gorgeous man, and though he was a man, he also admitted that fact.
He was a man most women would kill for, but seeing Linda use him to just attract his attention and make him jealous gave him a sense of accomplishment.
On their wedding day, when Luke attended, he felt smug and good about himself.
He had felt that Luke only surpassed him in looks, but now he was proven wrong.
There was never a comparison between the two to begin with.
"How can it be you?" He asked in state of stupor. The fatty was already losing his patience.
"What do you mean by that? Who else were you expecting?
Mr Shawn are you here to waste our time" he asked coldly.
Shawn stepped out of his daze and apologized.
No matter what, he wasn't going to give up. He was already here so he might as well see it through.
Linda on the other hand was too shocked to speak, she felt pathetic.
There was a time this powerful man seating there belonged to her and only her.
Luke had always been crazy about her for as long as she could remember.
When she had told Luke about her feelings for him which was a lie by the way.
She had seen how happy Luke was, Luke had chased her all her life, but she only had a childhood crush on him at a point in time, nothing more, nothing less.
She always believed she was too good for Luke, but now she realized how ridiculous her thought was.
If anything, it was Luke who was too good for her. She didn't value him and had personally drove him away.
She took her seat in a daze, the lights in the room went dark as Shawn started his presentation.
"I'll..li..li..like t..to in.. introd...uce!" And just like that Shawn started his presentation through stammering. Make no mistake he was a very confident and fluet person, but the situation was something he had never imagined.
All the board members frowned, what the hell was he doing? Didn't he say he was going to blow their mind.
He was indeed blowing their minds, but not how they expected at all.
Luke frowned, " Shawn! Are you here to waste my time or what? Get straight to the point and stop shaking. Be a man" He said coldly.
Shawn calmed himself down and began again, he was still shaking and stammering.
The other board members wanted to speak but Luke raised his hands to signal them to let him continue.
This was better than the first one so he had no problem.
He listened to Shawn presentation with rapt attention. Though Shawn delivery was poor because he couldn't stop his stammering and shaking, his ideas and message were clear.
Linda continued to stare at Luke this whole time not taking her eyes of him for even a second.
Shawn finished his horrible presentation after what seemed to be a long time.
All concentration was on Luke, who was busy contemplating something in his head, only he had the final say.
"You said the Elysium project will bring in an estimated annual profit of 8.9 billion a year, it's that right? He suddenly asked.
Shawn nodded his head. He felt it was the best the project could archive but he was not completely sure, so he was a bit nervous.
"Wrong! Based on your presentation and plans for the project, this project should bring in an estimated profit of 12.6 billion a year in the least.
It had the potential to even rise further" Luke continued.
The board members were surprised, they had never imagined the profits to be this high.
They had initially estimated it to be below 5 billion which was already huge. But Luke was saying it could surpass 12 billion.
To them Luke was the God of business, he had never gotten anything wrong when it came to business.
His ability to see future potential of companies and projectsis what has got A Group to where they were.
Luke was quite surprised himself. He wasn't a petty man but he had planned to get back at the couple today.
He wanted to make Linda regret using him as bait to lure Shawn. He wanted to show them he wasn't a mere pawn that could be used and discarded.
He wanted Linda to see the man he had rejected for Shawn. For the project he had little faith in it.
But after hearing Shawn, he saw the massive potential of the project, this project was going to really bring him profit so why turn it down.
He knew how to differentiate his grudges from his business.
"A Group will give you the funding for the project, but remember that it requires a lot of work and dedication, are you ready to take it?
Trust me it won't be easy at all! Are you willing? He asked again.
Though the project had huge potential, it demanded a lot of hardwork and dedication. Everything had to be perfect with no deficiency and Shawn had to personally see it through.
Shawn nodded his head with determination, he wanted to prove himself to his wife and family.
"I'm ready"
"Good, prepare the contract and send it to me tomorrow, I'll be at emotion palace" Luke said.
He discussed some other issues with the board before leaving.
When he stepped out of the room, Linda was waiting for him outside, with Shawn nowhere to be seen.
"Luke I'm.." before she could even say anything Luke walked pass her like she was a stranger.
Linda was stunned, she wanted to follow him, but John blocked her.
"That's enough" he said coldly.
Luke got into the presidential elevator before disappearing.
Linda watched the elevator door closed with mixed emotions.
"What have I done?" She muttered to herself.
