"You're too late!" She grunted out, her fingers still digging into his dark sleeves.
Reginald shook his head, his face contorting with pain as he watched his wife struggling to breathe in his arms.
"Don't blame yourself." Her lips were upturned as those eyes began to close.
"No, no." He grabbed her shoulder tight as if that gesture would make her stay awake.
"It's my fault," Olivia whispered while feeling her soul leaving her body. She grew limp in his arms while her eyes were half-opened.
Reginald's face was white with shock as he watched her breathe her last. Her chest was no longer moving. There was no expression on her face. Her lashes didn't move to prevent the wind from drying her eyes.
Everything was just still. This was someone he promised to protect. Someone who waited for him patiently... someone he loved so much... he killed her!
