Chapter 3 - Get out

"Can I have some time to myself?" A smile appeared on her face. It made her look sweet but it faded into a grimace slowly, before she ventured to close the door again.

Reginald chuckled in his head. He thought the Princess was entirely different from what the rumors potrayed her. But he turned out to be wrong. It wasn't even a day to their wedding, but she revealed this sideof hers.

His grip on the door knob eased while the corners of his lips lift. Reginald took a step back, allowing Olivia shut the door on his face.

No wonder she was lonely. Such a terrible attitude. He frowned before walking away from the door.

His tall figure trodded down the wide hallways of the inn while his eyes took in the intricate patterns painted on the wall. The ceiling of the hallway was translucent. It let one to see the view of the sky.

On his way back to his room, he sighted Madeline. The lady looked as though she was looking for someone. His expression turned dark and he changed directions swiftly.

A smile appeared on her face as she stood before the door. Madeline raised her hand to knock the door but received no response.

She knocked the second time but it was still the same result. She wanted to growl in anger as she knocked again for the third time. This time, the door creaked open and Olivia's unaffected expression appeared as the door slid open.

She wasn't wearing any jewels or accessory. Her face was plain and her lips looked chapped. Madeline could not deny that despite it, her beauty never faded.

She clenched her teeth in rememberance that the man she wanted was getting married to her. She couldn't imagine them being with each other, so she devised a plan to cause a misunderstanding.

Once her eyes fell on Madeline, her blood ran cold. She felt like slamming the door once again. Were they mocking her?

Madeline noticed the changes in the Princess's features as their eyes met. She could tell Olivia was wearing a cold facade. But her eyes were an open book.

For the first time, she felt her blood rushing off her face. They had paled because the look Olivia sent was enough to render her six feet into the earth.

"What brings Lady Wilson here?" Her voice sounded calm, and a little musical. It made Madeline almost grimace, but she held it in.

Very soon, the Princess would be nothing. She was going to make sure she destroyed her. The nerve of she to steal the man of her heart. She thought.

"Oh, I thought you might need some company." Madeline stated, she batted her lashes coyly. That action alone made her look so innocent one would think she couldn't kick against the wind.

Olivia scoffed before scrutinizing the lady with her unfeeling eyes. "Are you making fun of me?" A subtle smile appeared on her face but was quick to disappear.

The gaze she wore was scary, but Olivia herself knew she was trying her best to seem tough before the woman. She couldn't wait to be alone. She hated the way these fake people kept disturbing her.

Madeline clicked her tongue inwardly. Her eyes said the words instead, before a smile appeared on her face. "I saw you walking into Reggie's room earlier. Is there something you needed to relay?"

She tried her best to appear as graceful and delicate as she could. Seeing such movement was almost riling Olivia up, a smile appeared on her face.

"It's none of your business." Olivia countered. Her eyes were almost livid, and she didn't know why that annoying smirk was on...

Oh! She got it now. No wonder her meal didn't arrive yet. It was all a set up. The maid who came to call her earlier, was the same person she asked for her meal. She started to piece the puzzles together, restraining herself from hissing at Madeline.

"Oh it is. I and Reggie are a team. We'll always be that TEAM and no one is ruining that." Madeline tried to act as though what she said was casual.

She wanted to see the same reaction she saw earlier on Olivia's face, but she ended up disappointed.

Olivia's eyes had gone cool, and her delicate hands went to play with her waist-length hair. She seemed nonchalant to whatever Madeline was here to obsess about.

And it made her mad. Terribly mad.

"Good for you." Olivia threw her head around and wanted to close the door but Madeline's words stopped her.

"I wish we didn't have to continue our bond secretly. I wish –"

The Princess knew Madeline was trying to rub it on her face. She knew Reginald was into her. So smitten like a fool that he would do whatever it took him to be with her. Those were her thoughts.

The more she contemplated about it, the more her mood dampened.

"Too bad you aren't going to spend the rest of your life with him. Have fun being his concubine." She interrupted Madeline without batting a lash. Olivia did not know her word was a big blow to the woman.

Madeline blinked twice as she watched the Princess close the door. The unaffected look she was giving her made her brew like a hot pot of herb. Her face turned different shades of dark as the beige, mahogany door was staring at her dumbly.

"You might have spoken the truth, Princess. But you have crossed the limit, this time." She uttered to herself in a voice so low, that even a superhuman could not decipher her message.

Her eyes turned vengeful as she swirled around in her gown. She clasped her hands together while a grim appeared on her face. Obviously, she was still reasoning the words Olivia spat.

Madeline vowed that she would make sure the Princess begged her. That day, the whole citizens of Napoleon would witness it. Including her father.

The look in her green eyes turned sinisterly while she strutted out of the place.
