When the police siren flashed with red lights and began to echo over the skies of Tokyo, it indicated that a case had occurred.
As the sound suddenly arrived at its peak and then receded in the ears of passersby, it revealed the speed of the vehicles on the side.
The red whirlwind raced and roared on the road, causing the passing vehicles to instinctively move aside, clearing a path for it.
Although the sirens were a part of it, Senichi, who was sitting in the car, felt that more likely, other drivers were thinking of their own safety.
Upon arriving at the crime scene, Senichi looked at the combination of an older man, a high school girl, and a young boy in front of him, his heart showing no ripples, but instead, a rather natural expression.
Indeed, among the people involved in the incident, they were none other than Kogoro Mouri and his family!
"Mouri-san, what are you doing here?" Officer Takagi approached Kogoro Mouri and asked, "Did you report the incident?"
"It was me," Kogoro Mouri replied solemnly. "Today, I received an invitation to visit Mr. Kusaka's house. Mr. Kusaka went to the wine cellar to select wine earlier, but a long time passed without his return. So, I went to look for him with his wife. However, when we arrived at the underground wine cellar, we discovered that Mr. Kusaka had been brutally murdered."
Senichi, standing nearby, couldn't help but roll his eyes inwardly. "Why does this kind of thing happen?"
After arriving at the scene and taking a look around, Senichi called Conan and Ran to inquire about the situation before the incident.
As for why it wasn't Kogoro Mouri...
There was no need to think about it; he was most likely busy drinking and paying no attention to anything else.
Instead, it was Conan and Ran, who were more likely to gather information during casual conversations, who had more valuable information.
So, with Ran's main account and Conan's supplementary information, Senichi roughly understood the ins and outs of the case and the circumstances of the other four suspects, apart from Conan and his two companions.
Firstly, there was Mrs. Kusaka, who did not attend the wine tasting but was in the kitchen preparing food for everyone.
But to get out of the kitchen, one had to pass through the living room where Kogoro Mouri was drinking, and Conan and Ran had been hearing sounds coming from the kitchen. This essentially ruled out the wife as a suspect.
What was more intriguing were the other three guests.
All three of them had financial dealings with the deceased, Mr. Kusaka. According to what Conan had heard from Jyokichi Tonomura, all three of them had borrowed money from Mr. Kusaka, giving them motives for murder.
First, there was Mr. Nonaka, a balding Mediterranean man with only a few pitiful strands of hair left on top of his head. He owed a significant gambling debt, so he borrowed money from Mr. Kusaka.
Jyokichi Tonomura, on the other hand, borrowed money from Mr. Kusaka to pursue a career as a sommelier.
As for the only woman among the three, Miss Takano had borrowed money from Mr. Kusaka due to the recent economic downturn, which had led to poor business at her gallery, causing financial difficulties.
As for why Mr. Kusaka ended up dead in the wine cellar, it stemmed from an incident during a wine-tasting event they had before.
Before the wine-tasting, Mr. Kusaka had stated that if Mr. Nonaka could correctly guess all the wines, he would grant Mr. Nonaka's request. So, Mr. Nonaka accepted the challenge.
During the tasting, Mr. Nonaka correctly guessed all the wines that Mr. Kusaka had selected. However, when Mr. Kusaka overheard praise from Miss Takano and others, he became somewhat irritated by their compliments.
Mocking himself for not using a more sophisticated wine for the test, Mr. Kusaka went to his most cherished wine cellar in a huff to pick his most precious bottle.
Seeing Mr. Kusaka headed to the most valuable wine cellar to select a bottle, Mr. Tonomura, who had consumed a considerable amount of wine and was somewhat exhausted from the tasting, suggested that they take a break and left the dining table.
Mr. Nonaka, on the other hand, got up and took a stroll outside to get some fresh air and sober up.
Miss Takano went to the restroom after the two men left, leaving only Kogoro Mouri, Ran, and Conan at the table, who remained in their seats without moving.
And it was at this moment, while Kogoro Mouri was savoring his wine and completely unaware of anything else, that Mr. Nonaka returned from his walk outside and noticed that Mr. Kusaka was still missing from the living room. This surprised him, and he inquired with Kogoro Mouri and the others.
And later, everyone realized that Mr. Kusaka had been in the wine cellar for a total of forty minutes.
Just as Kogoro Mouri and the others were surprised, Mrs. Kusaka came out of the kitchen, looking for her husband.
After explaining the situation, Mrs. Kusaka intended to go to the wine cellar to find her husband. However, Kogoro Mouri was somewhat concerned and followed her to the wine cellar.
But when they descended the stairs and arrived at the door of the wine cellar storage room, and looked through the rectangular prism-shaped transparent window in the middle of the door to see the interior of the wine cellar, they saw Mr. Kusaka lying on the floor between the wine cabinets, surrounded by broken red wine bottles.
There was also a red liquid on the floor, but it was unclear whether it was blood or wine.
The wine cellar at the time was completely sealed, and everyone had to open the wine cellar door with a key provided by Mrs. Kusaka.
After an inspection, they found that the only window in the room was also closed, which meant it was a locked room case!
After hearing Conan and Ran's description of the situation before the incident, Senichi rubbed his temples in frustration.

Although the victim's head and shoulders were slightly leaning against the lowest wine cabinet, he was essentially lying down.
But this lying down wasn't a straightforward position on the floor. Instead, the victim was on his knees, with his body leaning back against the bottom wine cabinet in a rather contorted posture.
In terms of movie scenes, characters would typically either fall straight backward after getting shot or crawl forward. But falling backward while on your knees...
Well, that's a position that's rarely seen, especially for a male victim.
It's often referred to as the "Duck sitting" position, and it's a common posture for beloved female anime characters in pictures.
But this seemingly simple position can be quite terrifying for men.

But for men, it's a rather horrifying position, and many who dared to try it ended up with broken bones. (Seriously, don't attempt it!)
