In a dark decrepit ruin where the air is so thick with dust you could choke on it, there stood a boy under the illumination of what looked like floating ancient characters. The boy, whose name was Liam Murphy, was focused on what looked like stone carvings that depicted ways of gaining immortality.
"Ha ha," Liam laughed joyously.
"Cultivate the energy of a Beast for immortality!" he yelled. 'Could this mean that the key lies with refining beasts with potions? …No… Or could this mean that I need to learn from a spiritual beast?'
Liam stood frozen pondering the unanswered question.
"Damn it!" He screamed. "This leaves me with more questions than answers!"
'I have finally found a clue; it's been 4 long years since the system gave me this quest. And it's been 15 long years since I reincarnated here.'
Liam tried to think back on how he got here.
It was a normal 16th birthday like any other.
* Bang Bang*
"Liam, it's time to wake up! The birthday boy needs to rise and shine!" yelled Mrs. Murphy.
"Uhhhh Mom, can't I just sleep in today? Like you said, 'it's my birthday'. "I groaned from my comfy bed.
"Nope! It's a school day! Now go take a shower and eat breakfast! I'm taking your sister to school!"
"Uhhh, Gods if I don't get isekai'ed today?" I groggily moaned out still half asleep.
Getting up into a sitting position I rub my eyes trying to wake up.
The room looked relatively small for a middle-class American family household, but in reality, it was just cluttered with stuff. Every inch of the room was filled with posters of different anime, comic book heroes, and hot models. And where there wasn't a poster there were shelves filled with manga, comic books, and figurines. Right next to Liam's bed was his computer he forgot to close last night. On the screen, you could see a complex program while on the desk next to the monitor was a book that read 'Coding for Dummies'.
Sighing, he got up and grabbed his clothes from his dresser. Grabbing his pink shirt with a monster truck on the back and some light brown cargo pants. Quickly he left to take a shower. Once done he went to grab a towel and stilled.
His eyes twitched at the memory of needing to walk across the house naked. He continued to reconcile with his embarrassing past.
After finishing breakfast, he left to walk toward his bus stop. On his way he noticed some other girls walking ahead of him. It being summer in Arizona, girls in high school tend to wear short shorts. And he knew for 1 that he didn't mind the view. So much so that while engrossed in the view he wasn't paying attention to the road.
* Hong Hong*
"Hey! Watch out!" yelled an old guy walking his dog.
Looking up I saw an old guy yelling at me and for whatever reason the only thing I could focus on was that dog.
"Betty?" Those were my last words before I was hit by a school bus.
The only thing I was able to process in my last moments was that the nice old guy down the street was the one who stole my dog.
'If I ever get to go back to earth Ima sue his ass' I thought with clenched fists. Trying to hide my embarrassment that some nice booty got me killed.
'After that, I found myself in a pitch-dark space. It was the scariest time of my… Life? Anyway, all I remember was that I was tired all the time, there would be quakes every once in a while, and after what felt like years I was suddenly a baby.'
'And though this might sound unfeeling. I am happy that I was reincarnated. Sure, I miss my family, friends, and the Internet. I was living every otaku dream. It sure was a lot better than the nothingness my dad talked about as he was an atheist. Speaking about every otaku's dream', I thought.
"System", A menu then appeared in front of Liam.

Sighing and closing the system. 'I should be happy that I found a clue but there's a problem with this system. How can I use the knowledge I have of a novel I don't even remember reading? I read plenty of cultivation novels out of boredom but how could I possibly know what cultivation novel I'm in? I can think of plenty of cultivation novels that rank potential from Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, to Mythical. And I can think of a thousand more that go from body refinement, mana refinement, mana core, to Soul Formation. If there are any more stages after that then no one on this planet knows it. After all, though I might be a weakling but I am the most knowledgeable archeologist on the planet.'
Looking back down at the text I realized that the only way I'll find more information is by going to the Ruins of the Tig'ri. After all the clues ancient texts' origin language is Tig'rese. Sighing, I stood up and left the ruins.
'I've got quite the search up ahead. Luckily for me, there are a few monuments there that might give me clues as I've already searched through most of the ruins of Tig'ri.' Liam thought as he took long strides toward the easternmost part of the continent. Also called, 'the endless desert.'
*8 Months Later*
In a giant desert, all that could be seen was sand. And while Liam was there the desert obscured anyone from seeing farther than a dozen meters without excellent spiritual control.
'It should be around here somewhere', Liam gritted his teeth.
'One of the things that made this desert so dangerous is the fact that at anytime anywhere you can run into Beasts. But the biggest thing was that the only way to satisfy your hunger and thirst was to kill a beast. The endless desert is a wasteland where the only life that can survive is powerful carnivores. And I haven't eaten anything in days. I can survive with runic water spells fine, but meat is another issue. If only I could find…'
I paused in amazement. 'This is the last landmark and one of the rare places I haven't been to yet. The Tomb of Tig'ri, the burial site of the first king of Tig'ri.'
The tomb was almost like the sphinx from Egypt except that it was 300 meters tall, and it was a tiger. Even though the stone statue had eroded over time the beauty of the tiger was still visible.
Walking around the tomb I look for any clues to get in only to find nothing.
"Shit, this can't be it!" I yelled out my irritation while kicking sand.
"The avatar and his gang might find the Si Wang desert hell bu…" I paused as it hit me.
"The Si Wong desert, the library!" Quickly looking at the statue once again I noticed that the paws and everything underneath were covered in sand.
'The entrance was covered in sand.' Smiling at my revelation I realized that I might have found my solution to the second clue.
'I should have known. The endless desert was recorded to be much smaller in other ruins but the desert had expanded over the years. Just like the deserts of Egypt this place must have been teeming with life.'
Quickly moving to the front of the statue I spent the next few minutes writing ruins in the air forming a large circle.
Activating the magic circle, I quickly took a few steps back as I let the wind do its work. As the magic circle is a gravity spell, I made the sand lighter for as long as the circle is activated. After waiting a few minutes I ran in the direction of where the entrance should be and didn't even bother deactivating the magic circle as I knew the moment I deactivate it the sand would pile right back up on me.
Running forward I found the entrance still covered in sand as there was no way for the wind to push it out. So, deciding it was time for some manual labor. I moved the almost weightless sand out of my way as I slithered my way through like a snake.
*poof**sssssssss*
Feeling my hand falls through the other side I quickly made my way through and made it to the other side and deactivated my magic circle. Almost immediately, I could see sand filling the whole I just made.
Finally getting a moment to rest I write a light rune in the air causing the surroundings to brighten up. Looking around I inspected for any booby traps only to find none.
"That's odd… Usually, there are all kinds of booby traps." I said out load this time.
Walking forward I started to ask myself 'Is this really a tomb'.
Deciding to pay closer attention to the walls I notice that miraculously there are a few murals on the wall that haven't eroded away. Getting a closer inspection, I see a boy killing a tiger while there is an egg behind it. The next picture, depicts the boy holding the egg while it's" Glowing?" I ask myself.
In the next picture half of it is missing but, on the side, we do see there is what looks like a giant dragon eating… "Marbles?" And as soon as I said that an alert from my system showed up.

Grinning I thought in my head 'Finally, and I haven't even gone through the entire tomb'.
I continued walking till I reached what at first look is a dead end. But to someone as experienced as me I could tell immediately how to get through. Looking around the room I saw 123 tiles fit perfectly into a square. I also noticed that every 3rd tile was a different size than the other tiles and 2 of every 3rd tile was a different color. Walking forward casually I made sure to only step on the correctly colored 3rd tile till I made it to the other side of the room.
"Pft, amateurs," I said casually as I pushed a random tile on the wall. Seeing it go into the wall I smirked. And as if to spite me the whole tomb started to shake.
"Shit, what did I do wrong?" I yelled as I was quickly turning around only to see that the tiles from the middle of the room started to fall tile by tile into what looked like a deep abyss. Looking around for any possible way to escape I realized I was trapped. The tiles were falling too fast for me to make it to the other side on time and there were no stable structures to stand on.
Closing my eyes and opening them again, I put on the most confident face I had and dived into the pit. I started to write runes in the air at my fastest speed and smacked the circle onto my chest. Using my gravity spell to decrease my weight. Putting as much mana into the circle I noticed that my fall's speed slowed down by an incredible amount, but the mana cost was ridiculous. It's one thing to lighten up sand. It's another to lighten up a living object. And so, my fall began.
'Until I ran out of mana.' My face Instantly paled. 'I had been falling for 27 minutes straight and there was no end in sight. I can't even see the place I came from. As I started freaking out, I noticed my drop accelerate again.
*Crack**Splash*
I hit what felt like cement till the rest of my body fell through. I tried screaming in pain but all that did was make me inhale water. Quickly realizing my situation, I used my arms to swim up. Gasping for air I started to make a floaty with my shirt. 'Thanks, Dad, I guess those boy scout lessons did come in handy'. I thought while trying to figure out where I'm at.
Unconsciously I tried making a light rune but seeing the appearance of a flickering character I knew I didn't have enough mana right now for even something as simple as that. Looking around this time hoping for a natural light source I notice an odd platform with a podium upon it, it was just above the water a few hundred meters away. Deciding to take my chances I carefully started to swim over there. Seeing the platform above me I started to reach out for the edge. Grabbing it he started to lift himself onto it although painful it was nice to get out of the water.
Looking down at my injuries I saw that one of my legs was in a mangled mess. Although treatable I would need at least 2 days to heal this. Then looking at my other leg I hissed and sighed. My shin snapped and was poking out the side of my leg and although gruesome and painful I could treat it quickly with very little effort. Taking my shin bone, I started to breathe in a rhythmic sequence.
*Creak*
"Ahh" While trembling with bloodshot eyes I grabbed a healing salve from my bag and started dousing both my legs in it. 'While it would make treatment for my legs more difficult, I know that right now my main concern is getting out of here.'
Looking behind me I finally got a look at what was on the podium. There was a sword stabbed onto a rock…" Excalibur?"
Looking around some more I realized my choices were very limited. While I could wait here for my mana to recover and wounds to heal, I know that even with mana it doesn't help my situation. I know I'm deep in the planet, and I can't exactly fly. And the only thing here is that sword.
Heaving a deep sigh, I decided to break the number 1 rule of any archeologist who knows their salt. Never pick up flashy treasures on podiums.
Walking forward I take a better look at the sword. It looked like a mix of a Chinese sword and an English great sword. The most incredible was that there wasn't a speck of dust on it. No erosion from time. Almost as if it was made yesterday.
Furring my brows, I put my hands on the pommel and started to pull with all my might. At first, it wouldn't budge but I kept pulling until it moved slightly. And the moment it moved the rest of the blade came out like it was butter.
Holding the sword in hand I got to take a better look at the blade. On the blade, there was a tiger and it looked like it was suppressing the dragon. Shaking my head, I say "Come on, get a little more creative than that. We have all seen the tiger vs dragon a million times over".
*Rumble Rumble Rumble*
Suddenly losing balance on my one usable leg I fell while holding the ground. "What the actual Fu".
*Ding*
"System Notification"
*Rumble Rumble Rumble*
*BANGGGG*
As if the system had planned this water level suddenly dropped and red like crack spread beyond the horizon. 'How do I know it extended beyond the horizon? Because from the platform I could see the abyss suddenly crack open wide, and I could see the sky again. Or space? I don't even think there's a hemisphere anymore'. If I wasn't so shocked, I would have pissed myself.
And unknown to Liam at that very moment the pristine blade suddenly crumbled as if thousands of years passed in mere seconds. Leaving only a rusty pommel in his clenched hand.
"You have completed the Hidden task – Eater of Worlds Unsealed
You have failed the main story mission Story Quest Rank SSS+ - Find a way to increase your potential
You have received a Reward: Teleportation Ticket."
Trying to process what's going on and failing, Liam looks down and sees something that brings down chills to his very bone. Quickly placing his gaze back towards the sky while repeating "What the fuck?"
Looking down again he sees a giant dragon of some sort. If he were to describe it in a way a fellow Earthling could understand it looked like a bigger version of those flying monsters that invaded Earth during the first Avengers movie. And as if sensing his gaze, the beast looked right at him.
When that happened, it was as if Liam's brain went in overdrive. Quickly ripping the ticket in his hand that was given to him by the system he disappeared in a flash.
All that was left was a destroyed planet for the world eater to enjoy in the cold recesses of space.
