Chapter 1 - Family

Cruel, Darian only knew this as he grew up, a stepfather that had hate for him since birth, showing him constant torture and beatings, his stepmother was cold and indifferent to his situation, his stepsister mentally abused him every day, and all of this would leave scars that he would never truly heal from.

"DARIAN!" his stepsister, Megan, yelled.

Darian thought if he ignored her, she would just leave him alone.

"Richard wants to see you." She had come up to his room, well, more of a box in a wall, although it was small, Darian made the most of it and kept it neat and clean.

Megan held a small grin, knowing her father well and his cruelty for Darian.

Darian had hoped to be left alone but knew he could not hide from his stepfather, "Fine, I'll be right there."

Darain walked from his room, up to his stepfather standing in the living room.

Richard stood there with a scowl plastered on his face, looking at his child he never considered his.

"You're late."

His stepfather stood with hatred burning in his eyes, Darian never truly understood why the family that adopted him and was supposed to care for him, hated Darain.

"I'm sorry Mr. Johnson, I tried to hurry."

Before Darain could react, his stepfather had slapped him, deafening him and making him fall to his feet.

"F-Father, wait!" yelled to Richard, hoping he would just stop at that.

"To think I would have adopted you" kicking him in the ribs, the sound of cracking could be heard.

"You are nothing but a disappointment!"

Darain tried to catch his breath, feeling like he was choking, he tried to crawl away hoping to get away, unfortunately his stepmother stood in his path.

His stepmother, or in his words, "Cold bitch," looked to have a noticeable disgust, almost as he was nothing but an ant crawling on her carpet.

"You should thank your father for letting you stay, what could a miserable coward like yourself actually accomplish in life?"

'Thank him?' Darain thought in his head but wouldn't dare say.

Darain knew although he had no money or anywhere to go, anywhere but here would be better, but could not bring himself to leave, because of his fear.

"T-Thank you father," Darain stuttered, scared of what else is to come.

"Hmph!" Richard snorted, "The reason I called you down is because I believe it is time to finally leave the house."

Darain was shocked to hear these words from his stepfather but put on the front of grim to hide his happiness.

"But where will I go?"

His stepfather looked at him with anger and was fed up, "I do not care, it is time to figure out what to do with your life and stop leeching off my family and I!"

'What have you ever given me?' Darain thought to himself, 'The only thing you have given me his trauma and scars.'

"I understand Mr. Johnson, I will go pack," Darain started to head up to his room but was stopped.

"Make sure to clean everything out bozo, I need that space for storage." Laughed his stepsister.

Darian wanted to argue back but decided it was not worth it, "Fine."

Darain made it up to his room, looking at it with happiness, finally getting to leave.

The room had a small blue blanket for a makeshift mattress, a small light for reading his books and had bits of books scattered on a nightstand, Darain didn't truly need any of this, he simply grabbed a locket his actual mother had gotten him.

The locket was silver and had etchings of a beautiful rose on the outside, but on the inside had a small note, 'For my son, Darain Makor, you are my greatest creation.'

Daraian made sure to grab this locket since it was from his mother, even though he never knew her, he would read this note every day, hoping she would come back.

Darian had grabbed everything he would need and was about to leave but looked in the mirror and looked at his appearance.

In the mirror stood a below average height boy, with short jet-black hair, a very small body frame, as it seems he never really ate food before, he had a wasn't the most handsome but he also wasn't the ugliest, but had a scar over his left eye from his stepfather when he was younger, now being 16 years old but if one would look past this scar into his eyes they would see almost a void of utter darkness in his eyes with some splotches of violet mixed around, almost as if any color was being sucked into the abyss to be never seen again.

Darain sighed at the sight of his appearance, "I really need to eat more."

Walking downstairs he saw his stepfamily smiling, happy to be rid of him, but he didn't care, he was getting what he finally wanted, to leave!

Darain finally had gotten to the front door and was visibly happy to be leaving, as he was reaching for the door handle, he felt a sharp pain in the back of his head.

he reached his hand to feel the weird tingling sensation and what had caused it, when he felt it, something wet and warm was being felt.

He brought his hand back around and realized it was blood!

He stumbled to turn around and fell to his knees but caught a glance of what was happening, his stepfather, Richard, had an almost small wooden club in his hand, with blood leaking from it.

Darain tried to understand why his stepfather did what he did, but slowly lost consciousness and fell to the ground, the last thing he saw was Richard standing over him with a smile of utter vileness.

Darian with eyes of unwillingness and fear towards his stepfather finally closed.
