Not just any voice but that of his mother. Jordan suddenly focused and listened closely when the voice started speaking. "Jordan, I don't know if you will make it in time before my spirit passes away after me. But just in case I decided to leave this message for you.
First, I want you to know that both I and your father loved you so much as well as Sasha and Aran. I'm sorry we won't be there for you any longer, but our memory lives on in you. I don't have much time but Jordan you need to run, escape this village and this forest, and never return.
You should have received your spirit companion today, I'm sure it's wonderful. Use its power to escape and survive. Last but not least, you need to find your father, he will protect you. I love you."
The message ended there as the little goldfish that was his mother's spirit companion slowly disintegrated into nothing but sparks and nothingness. Jordan could hear the pain and anguish in his mother's voice as she spoke. He thought about what she had said as he gritted his teeth.
'That would be easy except only oh I don't know, I didn't get a damn spirit companion.' Hate and resentment welled up in his heart as he thought to himself 'Those damned villager bastards. I'll make them pay, I swear it on my mother's and my sibling's graves. I'll make them truly rue the day they ever decided to bring harm to my family.' Jordan thought to himself.
Racial remarks and treatment were one thing. Jordan could look past it, but this? This was just too much.
Jordan felt angry, angry at the villagers, angry at his father who left them there, angry at the world that saw it fit to doom his family from the day they were born, and most of all angry at himself.
While he was wallowing in a hole his mother and both his younger brother and sister were going through unimaginable torture as they slowly burned to death chained and tied to remain in one position until death gave them the sweet kiss of eternal release.
As Jordan thought about this more tears began to well into his eyes and he once again sobbed in sorrow.
Jordan was furious and even more so in anguish as he slowly realized that there was nothing he could do to serve justice. He may very well die himself if he were to return to the village.
'Wait a minute, what does mom mean by find dad? Isn't he dead? How am I supposed to find a dead man?', Jordan thought as he decided to throw these thoughts to the back of his mind for another time.
'My family's death will not go unpunished no matter what' Jordan thought.
As Jordan's thoughts grew darker and darker, he suddenly heard a sound in his head. A sound? No, it was a voice, but it was not his voice so how could he hear it in his head? And why was it so clear?

Jordan a bunch of words appear in his sight and it made him dizzy as it was sudden. "System? What the hell is this?" Jordan laughed out loud. "I failed to get a spirit companion, my family is murdered and now freaking delirious? This just couldn't get any better."

The timer began to countdown. Although Jordan didn't think he was crazy he started to get nervous. Was this real? Would he really fall asleep in an hour? What would happen if the persons responsible for his family's deaths discovered he was here?
Jordan wasn't sure if the pressure was getting to him and he was hallucinating or if it was all real. He did know one thing for certain though and that was that he definitely did not want to pass out here.
