Chapter 1: Introducing Nathan and Amber
Nathan opened his eyes and blinked several times, trying to adjust to the bright light. He looked around, taking in his surroundings. The room was white, sterile, and unfamiliar. A young woman with kind eyes and a warm smile walked into the room.
"Good morning, Nathan," she said. "I'm Dr. Johnson, your neurologist."
"Good morning," Nathan replied, still groggy from the anesthesia.
Dr. Johnson proceeded to explain that Nathan had been in a car accident and had sustained a head injury. As a result, he had lost his memories from the past few months. Nathan listened to her words, feeling increasingly confused and disoriented.
Later that day, Nathan was discharged from the hospital and went home. He tried to piece together his life by looking at the photos and documents he found in his apartment. He discovered that he had a job as an assistant manager at a small office and that his boss was a woman named Amber Alves.
Nathan went to work the next day and introduced himself to Amber. She had beautiful red hair and piercing blue eyes, but her expression was cold and unwelcoming.
"Good morning, Amber," Nathan said, trying to sound friendly.
"Good morning," Amber replied curtly. "I'm busy, so please don't bother me unless it's urgent."
Nathan was taken aback by her harsh tone but tried to shrug it off. He spent the rest of the day trying to remember his duties and observing his coworkers. He was surprised by how friendly and helpful they were, especially Lisa, his coworker.
At the end of the day, Nathan approached Amber's desk.
"Excuse me, Amber," he said. "I just wanted to thank you for letting me work here. I'll try my best to be a good assistant."
Amber looked up from her computer and studied Nathan's face for a moment. Nathan felt her blue eyes piercing through him.
"You're welcome," she said finally. "Just make sure you do your job properly, and we won't have any problems."
Nathan nodded and walked away, feeling a little disheartened. He couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to Amber than her cold exterior. He resolved to get to know her better and win her over, no matter how difficult it might be.
