"Breath and kisses were believed to have magic powers. While we know now that it's just air, magic is carried with the breath, and the belief that kisses held healing powers is old and widespread. Moms often kiss their children's scrapes and bruises and the kids becoming suddenly fine is a form of this. That belief over time has lent ancient power to the idea, and it may work to remove sleeping curses."
