Chapter 3 - Victory or Defeat?

"Take this, you damned lizards!"

Exhausted from the hours of battling with the giant horned demon iguanas, Reyson Lang gathered an ample amount of mystical energy as he hovered a black stick in the air, while he motioned his body, floating several meters from the ground.

"I will lend to you my energy, Master." The divine system called the Architect, made an ethereal apparition in the air closer to Reyson Lang.

"No need, Architect." The magus vehemently declined as he swiftly condensed his mystical energy toward the black stick suspended in the air. However, he sensed an enormous amount of energy not derived from him. His only suspect was, of course, his only companion on this journey.

"Architect!"

Despite his irritation, he could not firmly decline what had been offered. He sensed the quick condensation of energy as the stick became more pronounced in cosmic energy infusion.

Quickly, he manifested a thousand swords from his arnis stick, a martial arts technique he expertly maneuvered since learning about it many decades ago in his mystical path, rife with risks and challenges.

As the manifested swords in thousands quickly reached the demon lizards on the ground, a large wave of vibration a hundred meters from the ground created immense pressure on his adversaries that they were stunned and paralyzed with their claws, firmly planted on the ground.

The invisible amplitude of that vibration encompassed a wide scale on a deserted plain. Before those swords were still in mid-air, less than twenty meters from the surface, the impact from the vibratory pressure already obliterated the rocks and stones and pulverized them.

Despite the great frequency of the vibratory impact, four of the remaining demon-horned iguanas managed to overcome it, though barely. The rest of the lizard demon-kind were annihilated.

After Reyson Lang swiftly avoided the lizards by running from the picturesque landscape, his locomotion brought him to a deserted plain, with a wide expanse of land of mostly rocks, stones and barren land with some spirit herbs thriving on this type of terrain.

"These lizards seem superior in hide and strength than other demons here." spoke the magus, whose focus remained on the swords as their edges charged at the remaining iguana demons.

He witnessed the swords get through the horned iguanas and penetrate the seemingly impenetrable scales of the demons, noting their relation to the true dragons. The impact of the ethereal swords sliced them into different pieces, leaving a number of demon cores on the ground.

More than a thousand meters on a cliff of a canyon, seven of those tortoises in their human forms spectated the battle from afar.

All of them incurred injuries during the battle with the demon-horned iguanas, which are on par with them in demon cultivation rank.

The advantage they had was that two of them were of a higher rank than those demon lizards.

But the disadvantage they shamefully possessed was their deficiency in learning martial arts prowess.

"What do you think, young master? Should we advance now after those damned lizards were killed by that human?" One of the human-transformed tortoises tactfully asked.

Only two of these spirit tortoises were soldiers while the rest were vassals except for a young man, with a noble bearing.

The spirit tortoises were known on this continent as mostly scholarly. Their strength, however, should not be misjudged.

Famed for incredible defenses, tortoises when reaching a higher rank in cultivation could advantageously manipulate intense pressure on other beings, similar to how dragons, phoenixes, and white tigers could overpower other demons and spirit beings.

Moreover, noble tortoises could possess overpowering pressure when their cultivation grade would be activated. In this group of seven tortoises, a young master was among them. But his advantage in attribute held certain limitations.

"Let us wait and see how this human…" The young master replied while his gaze was locked on the human who seemed to take care of their enemies. His answer was disrupted when he saw the human fall down to his knees.

"What?!"

"Young master, that human seemed to have his energy depleted." One of the vassals anxiously uttered.

"Let's help him!"

"Lerami!"

"He is impulsive as always." One of the young vassals, a young woman, commented with disdain. Another young woman, though older, shouted at the young man again, "Lerami! Come back, you idiot!"

"Follow him!"

"Young master, should we bring him to Master…." A middle-aged man was about to ask his liege when he noticed the noble young man nodded his head.

The soldiers already reached the location where Reyson Lang's body, lying on his stomach and barely breathing, was about to be nursed by the young man named Lerami.

"His injuries are… healing!" the young man almost yelled as he witnessed the body recuperating by itself.

"Next time, don't be too impulsive or you might get into danger. This man seems to have an enormous power than all of us combined." An approaching young woman audibly emphasized her irritation after watching her brother run off without any care.

"Didn't he have someone accompanying him?" The young master spoke as his curiosity hit him while meticulously observing the body whose skin was devoid of any bruises, wounds, or signs of injury.

The rest of the group saw the half-naked body on the posterior portion, bereft of any scratches.

"Young master, we only saw him approaching us." The middle-aged vassal whose position was akin to a butler of any noble house responded to his liege's query.

"Oh, is that it?" The younger master was momentarily stunned when he heard the response. But his expression regained the bearing he painstakingly practiced. "Perhaps, it was only I who could see him. But then where was he now? And why did he leave his friend with him here, by himself?"

"What should we do to him, Master?" One of the young women carefully asked, fearing that her question might irritate her young lord.

"Where are the demon cores?" One of the soldiers in their group asked, annoyance could be seen on his face.

The young master ignored the provoking utterance of his soldier as he calmly replied. "Let's bring him to my Master."
