Reincarnation irritates me.
Of course, I was unaware at first that this was the world of a book.
I was killed in a car crash in the middle of a blizzard in the dead of winter.
I was late getting home from the library since I had spent a lot of time struggling with my graduation thesis when a car skidded in the snow and ran into the sidewalk. Unfortunately, I was just walking past.
So I died and was reincarnated.
Well, I'll just skip over the details of my past life. It's not like it was interesting anyway. Even if you reminisce about the past, you still can't turn back time.
And in this case, where I was reborn is more significant than the type of life I led before.
Contrary to my expectations, the beginning actually wasn't bad.
"This time it's a daughter. I'm glad since I've already had a boy."
My mother's voice was the first one I had heard, and it was warm and loving.
Apparently, she'd already given birth to a son, so it seemed like she'd actually wanted a daughter for her second child.
Of course, I was shocked that I'd been reborn, but I accepted this new reality fairly quickly.
I mean, what else could I do?
My former body was already dead, so as much as I would like to, I couldn't go back to the past. Besides, I adapted to these new conditions rather quickly.
My new mother was quite attractive.
My mother had honey-colored blonde hair that looked like spun gold and eyes as deep and blue as the ocean, was as beautiful as a princess from a fairytale.
Wow, my father must be a lucky guy to have won over such a beauty!
On top of that, my mother was mixed race and a perfect blend of eastern and western beauty .
Every day, I marveled at my mother's looks.
"Is this the child?"
However, it turned out that my father was even more striking than my mother. "She looks like you."
I couldn't help but be shocked when I made eye contact with a man with black hair and crimson eyes. He stood out in a way that was completely different from my mother.
Perhaps it was his facial features, which stood out clearly, or the mysterious and frightening aura he gave off. Whatever the case, he left a lasting impression on those around him that one couldn't easily forget, even if you only glanced at him.
He was actually a rather attractive man, but she thought that his aura overshadowed his attractive looks.
"Yes, but she has your red eyes." My mother remarked with a kind smile.
At this point, I was looking forward to being quite the beauty.
Wouldn't it be expected that I would be attractive if I shared these two people's genetics?
"Roxana."
My father's gaze though, was dark as he looked at me in my mother's arms. "This child will be named Roxana."
After giving me my name, he left the room.
Now that I think about it, this rotten father never came to see me before my eyes were open.
My father's expression as he looked down at me was so dry that I couldn't believe he was looking at his daughter. My father doesn't seem to be an affectionate man.
"Roxana. My lovely baby."
My mother appeared to be upset as well, but she quickly gazed down at me, her usual smile on her face. "You must grow and mature into a great Agriche."
At that moment, I felt a strange feeling of depression.
And, looking at my father, was I perhaps reborn in a foreign place?
The language spoken by everyone definitely wasn't English but I was able to understand without any problems. Did I perhaps receive some kind of special power due to being reincarnated?
But I wasn't able to dwell on that thought for very long, as I quickly fell asleep. Babies sleep a lot.
I fell asleep soundly as my mother gently rocked me.
I didn't know it yet. I didn't know what a terrible family I'd been born into.
And the fact that I'd reincarnated into a place that defies all common sense.
Well, even if I knew, what could I do about it?
There's no escaping fate.
