Chereads / Ascension: A Mortal's Journey / Chapter 9 - Talent (2)

Chapter 9 - Talent (2)

After the two shocks, however, everyone else proceeded to set expectations for Li Feng.

Of course, none of them had anywhere close to Saint talents.

None of them had any King Talents either.

Almost everyone who was tested had either trash or mortal talents, with two or three surprisingly having a lord level talent.

Li Feng saw everyone who went up and sighed with relief after many turned up empty.

"Good. They don't expect you to have these great talents. After the expectations that those two put for us, just how can we match them?" He told himself.

The line in front of Li Feng moved quickly as he got to the front relatively quickly.

When his turn came up, he looked to the right where everyone waited, looking at him.

Ninety percent of the people there had trash talent, while the remaining had mortal and lord talents, except for the two outliers.

"All I can hope for is mortal in something." Li Feng told himself as he stepped forward and took the needle that Shi Hou offered.

"Thanks, Young Master." Li Feng nodded as he readied himself.

"Don't worry. It's Senior Brother from here on out." Shi Hou smiled.

Li Feng nodded with glee.

"At the least, I am guaranteed to enter the sect." He rejoiced.

"Of course, Senior brother." He nodded as he pricked his finger and dropped the blood on the giant ball.

The ball shone with some light, and he could see the screen pop up in front of him almost instantly.

"Please be good."

"Please be good."

Li Feng muttered the chant as he peeked at the screen with his fingers crossed.

"Constitution: Mortal"

"Mortal! I have a mortal constitution! That's good right! I have something!" He sighed with relief as his eyes drifted down.

"Constitution: Mortal

Spirit: King"

Li Feng's smile froze as he looked at the second line of the screen.

"King? Something must be wrong. Not even lord. King?"

Shi Hou was also looking at this, and his casual smile disappeared as he saw the screen.

"A king level talent? Never mind these two monsters that appeared, but a king level talent outside the families? One up for grabs?" He muttered.

He looked to the side at Gentle Sword.

"We need to inform the Second Elder immediately. He will want to know. A faction-less king level talent." He said.

"I am on it. Take care of the rest of the process." Gentle Sword said as his silhouette disappeared instantly.

Shi Hou calmed himself and looked at Li Feng once more.

"Good. A King Level talent. That is wonderful. Now then, that marks the end of the trial of talent." Shi Hou smiled and said.

Everyone in the right stared at Li Feng with disbelief.

How could they not. All those from the great families were used to towering over the commoners. And now, one of them had upstaged them like this?

"We shall now enter the sect itself. It is time to become true disciples of the Seven Sword Sect." Shi Hou coughed and took everyone's attention once again.

Regardless of Li Feng's talent, becoming a disciple was the reason they came here, so everyone directed their attention toward Shi Hou.

"Most of you here know how many trials there are. We have completed the third trial, and all of you are now considered disciples of the Seven Sword Sect." Shi Hou smiled and said.

"But that doesn't mean that the sect will not test you any further. Now, it is time for the elders to make their choice. Elders will want to take a look at you and take in their own disciples." He said.

"Most of you will not be given this choice. But I am sure that some of you…"

As he said this, his eyes grazed Li Feng, the veiled woman, and the yellow robed young boy.

"… some of you will be selected."

"Good then. Now that I have completed my end of the bargain, it is time for all of you to enter the sect." He smiled.

"There is not much fan fare in this. You are all just newcomers. And that means there will be less resources for older disciples. So when you look at each other, you may see peers, but sometimes, it is best to see your fellow disciples as rivals." Shi Hou warned.

"You will get tokens that have your name once you climb the stairs. The outer sect robes will be given to you as well."

Li Feng raised his hands at this point.

"Yes?" Shi Hou looked at Li Feng.

"As a sect, what will the resources be for new disciples?" He asked.

"Ah! Don't worry. All of your background information will come after you get to the top of the mountain." Shi Hou smiled.

"This marks the end of my part in this process. After you climb the stairs and enter the sect, the Outer Sect Elder will be in charge of handling you runts." He said.

"Once you all get there, he will tell you how the sect will work, and what you will need to know."

Li Feng nodded as he looked up the stairs that he was just tasked to climb.

The stairs went up the mountain to an elevation that was not visible from where Li Feng stood.

His assumption that the main sect was above and beyond those stairs turned out to be right.

Looking at them though, Li Feng had a terrible feeling.

It was like when he entered the pavilion from before, or when he looked at the veiled lady.

Shi Hou had already started walking toward the giant mountain that towered at maybe a few dozen meters?

"Alright. I will meet you at the top." he said as he jumped up onto the staircase.

He jumped up casually, but even then, he landed a few meters into the air, and high up in the staircase with ease.

"What are we waiting for? Let's go." Sima Xun shouted as he rushed into the staircase, stepping onto the first step.

Blast!

All of a sudden, Li Feng moved instinctively, and he could see a brief shadow fly past him.

Who could it be, other than Sima Xun?
