Everett couldn't hold back her fear for the Lycans. She was pretty sure that she would be dying in the hands of these lycans. She was a human with a fragile heart. Facing such big black lycans had never happened to her before.
The Lycans were all alarmed. They all whipped their heads in her direction with a ferocious snarl. As soon as they smelt human blood and flesh, they were even more tempted. On the other side, Everett was breathing heavily. Her eyes were wide in fear. She had nearly run away from there but she remembered her kingdom. She had to save her family by serving the king. What if he killed her whole family if she died here today?
Such thought brought strength to her mind. Grabbing the bowl of flesh tightly, she awkwardly called the Lycans, assuming that they were understanding her language,
" Food...I..I brought some food for you all..here.."
She put down the meat one by one for them to eat. All the while, the Lycans were staring at her. One of them snarled at her, ready to pounce at her any time. Everett shivered at their growls, her knees getting numb. She took a gulp and made a wise move. She sat on the ground, wearing a sweet smile before calling them over again,
" Here! Get your share. I don't mean to harm you."
The Lycans all snarled again but they were careful around her. The biggest one with a much longer tail came in front of to take a whip of her scent. When it smelt her human blood, he opened his mouth to let out another snarl. Those sharp cannies all came in her view. Everett was so terrified that she started praying silently. The biggest Lycan started approaching her like a prey, his deep eyes burning with hunger. As soon as it came closer, Everett put her hands out. Shaking, she pat on its big furry head, petting the wild wolf who had all the intention to kill her.
Much to her surprise, the biggest Lycan felt something from her touch. His wild eyes turned soft as he snuggled closer to Everett. His other members also followed him as they obediently began to eat the portion of the meat, not emitting a dangerous aura anymore. Even Everett was shocked as well. She didn't think that it would be so easy to pet these wild lycans. The biggest Lycan also turned to eat his food, keeping an eye on Everett as if he was born to protect her.
A smile spread across Everett's lips. She was happy to see them eating so obediently. She was so lost in watching them that she missed the footsteps behind her.
" Looks like you had a great party with my Lycans."
Frederick's cold voice snapped her attention out from the lycans, her head turning back to see the cold man standing. To be honest, Fredrick expected her death here. After he heard her loud scream then everything went quiet, he believed that his lycans were eating her flesh surely. He wanted to return to his castle and had a great sleep but something..his lycan pushed him to check on Everett. Even if she died, he wanted to see her dead body.
Everett stood up nervously, keeping her head low as she replied to the king,
" Yes..they...they are good..My King.."
Fredrick narrowed his eyes at the Lycans who were devouring flesh. They appeared comfortable around Everett. It was even more shocking that they were allowing Everett to stay in this close. Not even Fredrick himself couldn't tame them properly. Fredrick suddenly blurted, his curiosity rising,
" What did you do?"
Everett blinked her eyes innocently. Twisting her lips together, she replied, looking at the Lycans,
" Nothing...I just.. touched..one of them.."
Fredrick growled his words out, his eyes turning big wide,
" You...you touched the Alpha?"
Everett couldn't understand the meaning of Alpha. She merely nodded her head, appearing dumb by his reaction. Frederick kept thinking deeper and deeper in his mind. How could his lycans allow humans to touch them?
He knew their nature and the power of destruction. They hated to be controlled much less by humans. How did they allow Everett to touch?
Fredrick didn't voice his thoughts. He turned to leave, walking back in the direction of the castle before telling,
" Come back with me!"
Everett breathed a sigh of relief secretly. Thankfully, her scary punishment was over. She shot one last glance at the Lycans then started to follow the king back to the castle. Once they were out, Skol was still there. He was even shocked to see Everett walking out alive and well.
Skol wanted to say something but Fredrick cut him off by saying,
" In my study. I need to discuss something."
Skol bowed his head and left their side. Once they were alone, Fredrick scowled at Everett, saying bitterly,
" Don't think that your punishment is over. The more you use your mouth, the more you will invite doom to yourself, Mistress Everett. Go back to your room unless you want to go back to the woods again."
Everett quickly walked off like a little rabbit, her heart still pounding in fear. Couldn't he speak to her once nicely? She cursed the king and kept walking with her head down until she bumped into someone unexpectedly hard.
" Aaah..."
" Ah... Sorry..Sorry..I didn't mean to scare you.."
Everett rubbed her head to see a boy standing. His face seemed familiar as she recalled him serving food at the dining table. Everett replied politely, surprised by his kind behavior,
" It's okay, Mr. I wasn't looking ahead."
Ryan flashed a big smile. Then he smelled her blood from her bruises. He remembered hearing how the king had called her to serve. Taking pity on her, Ryan put out something from his pocket, giving it to Everett,
" Here! Use this on your bruises. It will help you to heal but don't tell anyone that I have given this to you. Mistresses aren't allowed to take any presents from other men."
