Chapter 34 - Enemies

The subordinates of Butch were put on alert once they heard the tone of voice that Butch used as he mentioned that they should be ready for combat.

Butch thought about alerting the other gang but there was a possibility of them still being involved in it.

While it was in his best interests to keep the opposing group alive as proof of the deal being struck between them, it could end up being something that could put him in further danger.

What he needed to do was prioritize his life rather than trying to hold onto his most recent gains.

What he did not expect was that there was someone among the opposing group that had overheard everything.

There was a man with overly large ears who was among them and he was listening in to what Tiffany had told Butch.

He did not know the finer details of who was updating Butch about everything but he was able to learn quite a lot of what was taking place.

The boss of the opposing gang turned to see the expression of the large-eared man change. "Lugs? What is wrong?"

Most gangs either had simple names due to their poor upbringing while some others mainly used nicknames.

A lot of gangsters with greater fame usually were referred to by the name that they became famous for.

Ever since quirks were introduced, most gangsters usually ended up getting a lot of nicknames related to their quirks just like a lot of villains.

The quirk of the man made him have overly large ears that allowed him to have a greater ability to hear but it came at the cost of having quite sensitive hearing so he could not be in overly loud places and be exposed to anything overly loud.

His quirk was the kind that would cause many to have some difficulties living in their everyday lives.

Car horns being honked nearby that could happen on any day or something similar could cause a great amount of discomfort for anyone with such a quirk.

Unless they learned how to block out certain sounds and focus their senses, they would have to face many problems like frequent headaches and insomnia.

The man who was named 'Lugs' became serious as he placed some ear muffs over his ears to better block out the surrounding noises. "A warning came in that there is a group moving in on our location.

It had been suspected that it could have been a part of our plan but they are not one of ours are they?"

The leader of the gang knit their brows. "There were no plans from above that I was aware of. We need to get out of here right away. Everyone move out!"

They turned their back to move toward the exit along with their people but when they got outside, a fight broke out right away. "Create a path!"

Ranged quirks were being fired into each crowd of the two groups as they exchanged losses on both sides right away.

The weak were being weeded out from the start of the fight as they were caught up in several blasts that they were unable to avoid in time.

If they did not die right away then they would have suffered serious injuries that caused them to become a detriment to their allies.

Among those people who had been in the fight, the large-eared man was among the first to be lost.

The more durable Quirk users made use of their tough bodies to endure everything while pushing through to create a path for each of their allies to get through.

The leader of the gang saw hope in how they were able to reduce the enemy's forces and all that it would take would be one final large push. "Damnit! Push through! Slaughter these guys!"

All that he wanted was to get back to the base and figure out who was behind it.

It would be at that moment that he would begin to gather his forces to seek revenge on whoever was behind it all.

He readied himself to unleash the full might of his Quirk as he would join everyone else in combat.

He stepped forward for a moment but something caused him to pause.

A sharp pain hit him so suddenly that he did not know how to react.

A knife pierced into his back that kept being pushed deeper.

He turned his head slightly looking back in disbelief. "Wha.. you..."

What he saw was the face of one of the subordinates who was always by his side.

They had been through so much together and there had been mutual trust gained through many life-and-death battles together.

Such bonds were where they could fight to protect each other's backs and the current situation was no different.

That was what he thought but those thoughts had betrayed him at that moment as he stared at the triumphant look on his ally's face. "Traitor..."

As he said those words, the other person pushed the blade deeper into his body causing his life to feel like it was slipping away from him.
