Chereads / The Wolf's bloody path / Chapter 31 - chapter 30

Chapter 31 - chapter 30

I, am excited. This mission was a surprise as the deputy specialist.

Though the title holds little actual power.

Finally I could see Ruby again. I've missed her.

Though, I'm not sure she's doing well. Hah... who am I kidding? She's probably sobbing like a mess.

I was too.

The bullhead was lowering itself down, Such a small house. Maybe I should offer her some renovations?

Thoughts for later.

I pulled open the bullheads side door and the jets noise filled my ears. I could see Ruby in her front door, oum... she looks awful. When did she last sleep?

There were a few other people with her, i could see professor Ozpin, Nora and Ren. Nora looks just as excitable as ever.

I didn't want to waste any time, so as soon as the bullhead had landed, I approached the group.

"It's good to see you, miss schnee. May I inquire to the purpose of your visit?" The old headmaster was as formal as ever. Even despite all that has happened.

"It is good to see you too, headmaster. To answer your question, general ironwood wanted me to escort you to atlas. The details are unkown to me, but everyone present is allowed to come." Ozpin turned around and headed back into the house.

The moment I looked to Ruby, she tackled me to the ground.

Immediately, I felt tears soaking my uniform.

"What happened to you, Ruby?" My bestie didn't respond and I just started stroking her hair. I... really am not good at this. All I can really do right now is try and soothe her.

I looked to Ren and Nora. They were about as confused as I was.

"I'll show you..."

Hans was a lonely man.

He would read alone, sleep alone, live alone.

Solitude was his life.

But these days, he couldn't be lonely even if he tried. Not only did Merlin have to be near him at all times for the sake of their connection not weakening, but Neo was being especially clingy.

Though he could understand why.

With Merlin, their connection was... fragile, at best. Simply because of all the fuel sources for a servant, od, prana, mana.

Hans uses none of those. For hans is unable to utilise mana or prana, he has no circuits to create Od and all that's left is his life force.

Life force that is used to sustain and actualize Merlins existence as a servant in a world where servants should not exist. Even most first class magus would be unable to sustain a servant like Merlin.

The only reason Hans could, was his biology.

Werewolves have high vitality, but natural werewolves had even higher.

Hans life was currently being drained, but it was recovering at a similar speed.

Granted, Hans was weaker, but it was such an infinitesimally small amount that Hans would never notice.

Anyways, Neo refused to leave Hans side. And he could not fault her. But today was even stranger because of a simple act.

Last night, Hans had fallen asleep in an armchair reading Merlins book. And he awoke to quite the surprise.

Neo's naked body hugging his own as she slept.

Utter shock was the first thought, the second being, why? Why on earth would she do this?

He realised the irony of that thought.

He was so very confused. Hans was simply frozen in his chair. If he moved, he would wake her, but he didnt want to just sit here.

Hans could only plead that Merlin came back soon enough. He could contact her, but he would rather not intrude when it isn't an urgent matter, he did have manners.

For now, he could only wait.

She felt so soft...

To see her make such a bold move, honestly, I wish I had someone like that.

Oh well. As a succubus, I don't think I'll ever find love. My emotions are hollow constructs created through human dreams.

As fleeting as a dream.

He's such a strange man... I wonder how far his journey will go? That man is a individual like few others.

He fights with a cold calculating mentality, but cares dearly and warmly for those he is close to. Those kind of people are rare and quite often don't have much left.

It confuses me though, it's clear that he's a phantasmal, of what kind I am unsure of. But as far as i can tell, the only nonhuman races in this world would be the faunus but they're more like a branch of humanity more than anything else.

There is no reverse side of this world

There is no alaya

There is no gaia

This world is vastly different from any I had previously seen. And it concerns me, the phenomena that the people of this world called 'dust' is just a form of mana crystallisation.

That alone is not concerning. Whats concerning is the implications.

Gaia controls the flow of magical power on itself. Mana crystallisation is an easily replicated event, but just because it is easily replicable does not mean it occurs naturally.

To compare, when a wound opens on a body, it clots.

On a human corpse, blood clots for a few days afterwards. The concept is the same.

This planet, was dead. The only way its existence should have been able to continue was due to something like a God's authority over life.

This planet had no will.

No ego

No mind

No consciousness

Nothing but husk of a planet. If it has a mind, Merlin couldn't sense it.

A god must be involved.

Neo had woken up. And Hans did not know what to say.

Neo stared him in the eyes and grabbed his hand. Slowly and carefully removing the glove.

The icecream girl stared at him while guiding his hand, towards her chest. Hans was... baffled. How was she so soft?

Before he could even properly gather his thoughts, his hand had squeezed quite firmly on Neo's left breast. Neo was unable to moan or squeal in pleasure due to her condition. The girl just opted to Bury her head into his shoulder as she panted.

Her heavy, hot breaths confused the man.

Until he realised what he had done.

Hans carefully moved his hand away and embraced her.

They stayed like that for awhile, Hans being unable to think of anything else to do as a result of a lack of intimate experience.

And Neo didn't want to do anything that Hans wasn't comfortable with.

Despite Neo's bold action, she had never intended to advance it to anything sexual. Not without him making the first move.

Though, both of them could easily forsee one issue within this relationship.

Communication.

As did the God of Darkness.

'Listen to me now, captain. In time, you will know all my magic, but for now, I shall impart onto you a technique that I developed long ago, yet never used. I had hoped to use it on my brother and unite us.'

The knowledge that he spoke of flowed clearly into his head. How very strange... it reminded him of a form of marriage.

Hans pulled her back, putting a finger on her chest between her plump mounds. Darkness pulsed through his fingers, pulsing through her body in rings of darkness.

'Eh? What's he doing?'

'Linking us.'

'Hans? Am I hearing you in my head?' Neo looked at his face, and he nodded.

'What did you do?'

'I made a connection between our souls. You can speak to me mentally, as can I. I can feel your location, and you mine.' Neo climbed off of his lap, quickly regathering her strewn about clothes and throwing them on.

A look of confusion crossed her face.

'Where's my corset?' Hans remembered the chocolate coloured corset, not where it was though.

'Oh well.' Neo wasn't going to waste a massive amount of time looking for it, she'd just get a new one eventually.

Honestly, it didn't feel too bad without her corset.

'What is your relation to that woman?' The question was out of left field, definitely, but they were alone, and she could finally ask him directly.

'To explain that, I will have to explain a lot.' Neo looked him in the eyes.

'We've got nothing but time.'

I see. So this is what happened while I was gone.

"I'm sorry Ruby. I wasn't here to help." Ruby was buried into my chest, falling to her knees, so I fell with her. Comforting her was the only concern, the mission took a backseat.

Family comes first, Ruby was someone I considered family.

I could not allow her to continue on like this.

"Ruby, where's yang?" Ruby slowly raised her head, looking into her eyes. The usually hopeful eyes of Ruby were nowhere to be seen, only depressed and tired eyes.

"I don't know. I haven't seen her in weeks. I only know that she's been hopping from bar to bar, drinking herself into unconsciousness." I sighed, stroking Ruby's hair, it might be difficult to find her.

"I'll go through my contacts. I can probably find someone who's seen her."

"Thank you, Ruby's uncle." The drunk pulled out his flask.

"Just call me Qrow."

Back in menagerie. Its been a while and I'm very nervous.

What would mom and dad think of what I've done?

As I walked through the streets, I noticed that not much had changed.

Everything felt so nostalgic. I see home... I'm stood at the steps.

The peoples chatter amongst themselves towards me didn't pass by my ears. I know they don't think greatly of the white fang. I haven't seen it the same since I left.

Step by step, I made my way up to the entrance of my... parents home.

I... can I do this?

Standing at the top of the stairs, I was hesitant. What do I say to them?

Hey mom and dad! Sorry for leaving at the age of 13 like an impulsive child to join a terrorist organisation! Can I come in?

I was paralysed as the door creaked open. Oh no! I wasn't ready for this!

I braced myself to see my mother and fathers disappointed expressions.

Only to see a white haired child.

"New person!" The small child launched herself at me like a cannonball, planting herself into my sternum, almost sending me right back down the flight of stairs.

The girl looked at my eyes, a bright smile on her cute little face. I couldn't help but note her resemblance to Mr Günsche.

"You look like aunty!" Aunty? She must mean mom.

"And you look like someone I know." The girls face lit up and she smashed her forehead against my own.

The pain was horrible, there... there's something warm running down my face.

"Big brother! Where is he? Tell me! Tell me! Tell me! Tell me!" The excited little girl was too strong, I could smell my own blood.

"Lina dear, why on remnant would you sprint off like that? Blake... Is that you?" My mother's voice called out. Ah, am I dying?

Did she really hit me that hard?

"Blake! Oh dear! You're bleeding so much! Lina! I told you to be careful with your strength!" The girl climbed down from Blake with a downcast look as kali rushed to the injured Blake.

"I'm sorry about this Blake. Lina doesn't know her own strength. Lina dear, go fetch ghira, tell him to bring the first aid kit." The scared child rushed off without a word, complying with her aunties order.

"It's been such a long time my daughter. Don't speak, lina injured you quite a bit. You need to save your questions for afterwards." Ah, mother. Her words are so calming, why... why can't she just be disappointed in me?

Why does she have to be so nice even after I left!?

Damnit mom.
