Before Aegri could finish her next point, LaRee snapped back with bulging veins on his neck.
"What if the defenders are overwhelmed? They cannot hold back the large lions forever. The other officers will need to join the battle, or victory will not be certain."
"I agree," Ayse warmly commented. "That's why I told you to wait your turn. See, some lions are already breaking away at the sides–"
"That is no way to lead! No way to command!"
LaRee raised his unloaded bow with a vengeful glint in his eyes. "To fire into a crowd is dangerous. The officers on deck cannot fire on the lions until they draw close and leave the defending line.
"But why would the lions do that? The pride leader could lead them to attack defenders from behind. What would the guns and bows do then?"
