High above any guest quarters, two men sat at a small, square table. A half-full bottle of whiskey stood beside two iced glasses, one full and one empty.
"It always amazes me to see your room. To think the all-knowing captain prefers such an inexpensive lifestyle."
"Stop beating round the bush and spit out your true thoughts, Natch!"
Captain Banders leaned back in his uncushioned, wooden chair. One foot rested atop the table's corner while he picked at his trimmed beard. "Pay up! Unless you're willing to go double or nothing."
Vice Captain Natch sighed. He raised his whiskey glass for a teeny sip. "... I don't get you, Banders. After all this, you're still deadset on that boy?"
"I'm telling you. The trouble ain't over," Banders stated, reaching forward to get a refill.
"Fool me once, it's shame on you. But fool me twice, and I'll double down to prove you wrong!"
Knock, knock.
"It's open!" yelled the captain.
