In frustration, Aegri took her whole bottom lip in her mouth. She groaned and pulled back her pointed finger. But Aegri didn't relax at all. She only grew tenser while sharpening her gaze on her wrathful, mental whetstone.
"You… Why won't you admit it? It doesn't have to be this complicated!" Aegri grunted through gritted teeth. "I want to trust you as my bodyguard. Yet you can't even deny it?"
"Do you want me to deny it?" asked Ayse.
Clenching her hand into a shaking fist, Aegri imagined punching him in the face. "No! I just… want you to answer the question. Did you do it, and how?"
Tilting his head and keeping his hands up, Ayse showed no cracks in his chiseled, emotionless face. "I don't need to answer you based on conjecture alone. And trust isn't what you think it is, Miss Boss."
