Chapter 392 - ASTRAR, a god or a Demon?

It was not a warm morning as most people would have expected. It was a bit cold, and heavy rain was falling outside. Watson was the first to wake up in the room and he instantly went to look at the small window they had in their room. He was admiring the beauty of the rain.

"Oh, such wonderful things of nature," he thought to himself, smiling as he also placed his two hands on his chin. He was now sitting on a brownish chair, the only chair they had in the room. He didn't sit close to the table as usual, as that was always his morning duty. Instead, he was admiring the rain. It wasn't every day rain fell at Fort Valor Military Academy.

"What are you doing, you 'weirdo'?" Alex said from his bed. Alex still looked sleepy, and it was the sound of Watson's chair that woke him up.

"Look at who is calling me a 'weirdo,'" Watson replied, not even looking back, he was too focused on the rain, 'admiring its beauty.' "For a Vampire, you sure do sleep a lot," Watson said, the next words mockingly.

It was true, Vampires didn't require sleep as much as humans did. Some Vampires have evolved to the point that they don't even sleep anymore. Alex was different; he loved sleep more than even some humans. This made Watson think that he might be the lowest of Vampires.

"You got me there," Alex said regretfully as he accepted the mockery. "So, has he woken up?" Alex asked.

This was when Watson understood the question, and he looked at Miller, who looked to be sleeping like a baby.

"He has, and he looks clean. He has completely healed," Watson said, smiling.

"He doesn't snore, does he?" Alex asked, opening his left eye and with a smile on his face.

"Yeah, I get it, I am the only one that snores in this room," Watson said as he looked back at the window, smiling.

It was a payback for Alex. Watson was the first person to mock him this morning, and he had done the same.

"Let me join you and admire the rain," Alex said as he jumped off his bed, "we don't have rain in the Vampire Settlement."

After ten minutes later, Miller's eyes started to open. He was lying on his bed, and when he looked at his left side, he could see Watson and Alex chattering to each other as they pointed at the rain through the window.

"I really have weird friends," he thought as he shook his head. He was confused about why they would find rain so exciting. It wasn't like they had never seen rain fall at Fort Valor Military Academy before.

"Good Morning, System," Miller said, greeting the System in his head.

"Good Morning, Miller," the System replied. "I can feel you are alright now."

"Yes, I am," Miller said, touching his head as if he felt a bit of pain. He didn't want to get up from his bed immediately; he wanted to know something from the System. "About those quests, can I see the rewards?" Miller asked.

"As for your first quest, you didn't complete it. You didn't defeat 50 bullies," the System stated firmly, disappointing Miller.

[27/50 Members Defeated]

Those words displayed in green at Miller's retina. "So I hope you understand why I can't give you a reward for this one," the System said in a serious tone.

"Yeah, I understand," Miller said sadly.

"Don't be sad, you still got rewards for fighting that Demolisher guy," the System said, trying to lighten up the mood.

It sure did lighten up Miller's mood. He remembered when the quest appeared on his retina. The quest rewards were kept in 'question marks,' so it made him curious to know what the rewards were. Although he didn't defeat 'The Dhampir,' he sure did fight him.

"Before showing me my quest rewards. Can you explain to me why you didn't show me the reward I would get?" Miller asked the System.

The System paused for about two to three seconds, almost giving Miller the impression that it wasn't going to answer, and then a sound was heard in his head again, by the System.

"Miller, there are sometimes you face weak opponents and sometimes you face strong ones," the System's voice this time sounded like an eighty-year-old human male. Miller's suggestion was that the System could alter his voice. But he didn't see it as necessary.

"Are you going to talk to me in that granny voice, Grandpa?" Miller asked mockingly.

"Alright," the System said, turning its voice to its usual robotic tone, "I was trying to lighten up the mood, 'Lover Boy'." It said, annoying Miller even further.

"Must you always call me that," Miller said, a bit angry.

"It is what it is, 'LOVER BOY'," the System said and emphasized the words 'LOVER BOY.'

"Stop it," Miller said.

"Why should I, 'Lover Boy'? You started it first, 'Lover Boy.' I promise not to call you 'Lover Boy,' The System emphasized the words 'Lover Boy,' with the aim of offending Miller.

"Let's just get to the real thing," Miller said, trying to change the conversation, "Why did you put question marks?" He asked.

"Like I said, sometimes you face weak opponents, and sometimes you face strong opponents," the System said.

"Well, how strong must they be?" Miller asked.

"It is not about how strong they are. I compare their current strength and skills to your own. If you get stronger, your rewards for fighting them would reduce," the System said. "When a person is too powerful for you to handle, I would put question marks, because I also don't know what would be befitting to give you until the fight is over."

"Wow," Miller said.

"I would grant you rewards based on how well you perform," the System said. "Any more questions?"

"Yes, I have one, What's a Throsk'Bok?" Miller asked. "What does being an Avatar of ASTRAR mean? Who is ASTRAR? Is he a god or possibly a demon?" Miller asked repeatedly.

"We have talked about this Miller, you are not yet ready for the answers you would receive. I simply can't tell you that. It is based on my algorithm," The System said firmly, "but there is something I can tell you for sure, and that's about your question if ASTRAR is a god or a demon. I can't answer what Avatar means in this context."

"Humans, unlike YOU (A Throsk'Bok), are so primitive, an Avatar is not only a representative of a god or demon. I can't tell you that right now what it fully means to be ASTRAR'S Avatar," The System continued. "But know this, and know this clearly, ASTRAR is an entity, not like a god, he is like an evolved version of the gods; even gods like Zeus fear him. He is part of the..." The System then paused and said, "I can't go further than this for now, you aren't ready for the whole truth."

"But why can't you just tell me?" Miller laid out his frustration.

"I am sorry," The System said. "But at least let me show you your quest rewards."
