Chapter 310 - Learning The Remaining Three

[Shadow Travel]

[The user can Step into one shadow and emerge from another, effectively teleporting short distances]

"Now let me give you a vivid detail of how the Shadow Travel works," Xentor said, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "This skill allows you to become one with your shadow in an entirely different way. You'll sink into your own shadow and emerge from another person's shadow or even another object's shadow. Think of it as a short-range teleportation, but within the realm of shadows."

Miller listened intently, intrigued by the possibilities this new skill held.

"First, you'll need to connect with your shadow, like you've been doing with the other skills," Xentor continued. "Once you're in sync with it, visualize yourself sinking into your shadow, becoming a part of it."

As Miller closed his eyes and followed Xentor's instructions, he felt a strange sensation. It was as though his body was dissolving into darkness, his senses swirling in a vortex of shadow.

"Now, think about where you want to emerge," Xentor said. "It could be the shadow of a nearby person, object, or even an area where shadows are cast, like the corner of a building."

Miller imagined himself reappearing near a tree.

"As you picture it vividly in your mind, you'll begin to materialize there," Xentor explained.

Miller opened his eyes, finding himself standing beneath the tree. It was as though he had skipped space and time to instantly arrive at his chosen location.

"That's Shadow Travel," Xentor said with a satisfied smile. "You can use it to get in and out of tight spots, sneak up on enemies, or simply move swiftly through the shadows. However, remember that it also consumes shadow points, so use it wisely."

"There is also another way you can use this skill. If you don't want to appear from another person's shadow. You can simply move underneath as you are a Shadow. But the downside is for you to come out of there. There must be a Shadow nearby or even far. If not you would be stuck until you see a Shadow."

Miller was filled with awe at the potential of this new skill. It felt like a true game-changer, offering him unparalleled mobility and tactical advantage.

"Thank you, Xentor," Miller said, grateful for his mentor's guidance.

"You're welcome," Xentor replied. "Now, let's move on to the next skill, Shadow Tracker."

[Shadow Tracker]

[The user can Leave behind a trail of shadow footprints to confuse or mislead pursuers]

"Shadow Tracker," Xentor began, "is a skill that allows you to leave behind a trail of shadow footprints, effectively confusing or misleading anyone who might be pursuing you. It can be handy for creating diversions, escaping from enemies, or even setting traps."

Miller nodded, eager to learn how this skill worked.

"To use Shadow Tracker," Xentor continued, "you'll need to connect with your shadow, just like before. But this time, you'll focus on creating these shadow footprints."

Closing his eyes, Miller concentrated on his shadow, envisioning a set of shadowy footprints forming on the ground beneath him.

"As you move," Xentor instructed, "imagine your shadow leaving these footprints behind. They should look as real as possible, mimicking your actual footprints."

As Miller followed these instructions, he could almost feel the sensation of walking on his shadowy footprints, even though he knew they were entirely illusory.

"Now," Xentor said, "you can choose whether these footprints are visible or not. If you want them to be visible, others will see them as if you were walking there. If you prefer them to be invisible, only those with a keen sense of observation might notice something's amiss."

Miller experimented, making his shadowy footprints visible and invisible, realizing the versatility of this skill.

"Once you've laid down your trail," Xentor concluded, "you can use it strategically. Lead pursuers astray, hide your true path, or even create confusion among enemies. But keep in mind that using this skill consumes shadow points for every set of footprints you create."

Miller felt like he was truly becoming a master of shadow manipulation. Each skill he learned expanded his capabilities and gave him new tools to confront the challenges ahead.

"Thank you, Xentor," Miller said, appreciative of the knowledge he was gaining.

"You're making great progress," Xentor praised. "Now, we have one more skill to explore: Shadow Blink."

[Shadow Blink]

[The user can Briefly shift through shadowy dimensions to avoid attacks]

"Shadow Blink," Xentor explained, "is a remarkable skill that allows you to dash between shadows, essentially teleporting short distances instantly. It's a handy skill for both avoiding attacks and quickly repositioning yourself."

Miller was fascinated by the idea of teleportation through the shadows. It seemed like the perfect tool for getting out of tight situations.

"To use Shadow Blink," Xentor continued, "you'll need to visualize the location you want to teleport to. It must be within your line of sight. Imagine yourself being enveloped by shadows, much like in the previous skills, but this time, you'll be focusing on a specific destination."

Miller thought of a spot just a few feet away from him and closed his eyes, concentrating on the image of that location.

"As you concentrate," Xentor instructed, "your body will dissolve into shadows, and you'll feel like you're briefly shifting through shadowy dimensions."

Miller tried to do as Xentor said, and to his amazement, he felt his body go 'puff,' as if it was dispersing into darkness. In an instant, the shadows covered his vision, and when they dissipated, he was standing exactly where he had visualized.

"Wow," Miller exclaimed, opening his eyes.

"Exactly," Xentor replied with a smile. "You've grasped the concept. The key to mastering Shadow Blink is practice. Try teleporting to different spots, and remember, it consumes shadow points with each use."

Miller practiced the skill multiple times, teleporting to various locations within his line of sight. Each time, he marveled at the sensation of briefly merging with the shadows and reappearing elsewhere.

"You're doing great, Miller," Xentor praised. "With these shadow skills at your disposal, you'll be a formidable force when the time comes to face your challenges."

Miller felt a newfound sense of confidence. He was well on his way to becoming a master of shadow manipulation, and he knew these skills would be crucial in rescuing Emily and confronting whatever awaited him in the real world.

"Thank you, Xentor," Miller said, genuinely grateful for his mentor's guidance.

"You're welcome," Xentor replied. "Now, remember to keep honing these skills, and use them wisely. You have the potential to become exceptionally powerful."

With these skills now part of his arsenal, Miller felt ready to face the trials ahead. He was determined to reunite with his friends, especially Emily, and take on the challenges of the real world, armed with the shadows as his allies.

"I would be leaving now." Miller said.
