Chapter 32 - What You Have To Get What You Want

So?.. I attempted and succeeded in making the jump.

I made a two-and-a-half-mile jump to the branch without my feet landing for a rest. From my perspective, it was as if I flew in the sky.

Not literally. You know, just that feeling that I flew because the distance was just that wide enough to have me mistaking it as flying.

Anyway, I made the jump and got to the branch before the macro scorpio could pass by it.

All that remains is to wait for it to pass below me and I can start my assault.

The macro scorpio walked with pride, shaking its buttocks as it flaunts the stinger above its body.

I watched it move, slowly but surely coming closer to me, and when it got to where I wanted it to be, which was right below the branch I stood, I started!

Sharply and precisely, I jumped down and landed on the back of the macro Scorpio.

Its instinct warned it, and its response was swift as it aimed its stinger toward me.

Hurriedly, I made only the necessary movements by having my body stand still and only tilting my head to my left so I could evade the stinger.

I had barely moved away my head when the tip of its stinger passed me by, drifting beside me with mere inches separating us.

Any later and my eyes would have been stung by its attack.

Honestly, it's a good thing I had accounted for insane response movement from the macro Scorpio. If I didn't, there was no way I would have been able to evade its stinger.

I acted without wasting any time or allowing it to make another attack.

The moment I barely evaded its stinger was when I sprung my body into action. I went to the lower side of its body, close to where the stinger tail originates from.

I grabbed the segmented tail, allowing me to control the movement of the stinger.

Of course, the macro Scorpio wasn't just going to stand still and watch me take control of the one lethal weapon that it had.

It refused me every chance it got. As I tried to move the stinger to the point below, at its body, the macro scorpio resisted by having the stinger point in the opposite direction.

The plan was... No, is. Because it is still in motion.

Because I had no lethal weapon to use to confront the macro Scorpio, I decided to borrow the lethal weapon that it had.

The stinger tail!

The stinger is pointy, sharp and deadly looking, while the body of the macro scorpio is sturdy looking, covered in exo skeleton plates.

Its defences are more menacing and heavily guarded, more so than the two beasts I had encountered the first time.

Just like with the other beasts, I bet no tree branches can penetrate the defensive body of the macro-scorpio. There are also no objects just lying around, waiting to be plucked and used by me.

In that sense, I was helpless. Even if I could go toe to toe with the macro Scorpio, I would still be fighting a losing battle so long as I do not have a weapon that can kill it.

Whereas, the macro Scorpio is in possession of a weapon that can kill me, with no qualms.

In that case, what am I to do if I want to even the playing field?...

There is a saying, use what you have to get what you want.

I don't have anything tangible to use that can help me get what I want.

But... What about what my opponent has? Can't I also use that to get what I want?...

Damn right, I can. That is assuming I don't die while trying to get my hands on it.

I struggled with the macro scorpio to gain control of its stinger.

In return, the macro scorpio resisted me, almost as though it knew that if it so much as relented and mistakenly handed over control of its tail to me, death would be upon it.

I could feel its struggle intensify as it slowly gained the upper hand in the battle of drag.

The macro scorpio was soon to gain total control of its stinger from me. Once it had gained control, it swung the stinger to the left side, along with me who was tightly holding onto the body of the stinger.

To the right, again it swung, trying to get me off its tail. I was adamant, clutching both hands tightly to the stinger.

Once I let go, I will definitely be at a loss since it will become relatively difficult to launch another surprise attack on it.

I fervently persisted in getting thrown off the back of the macro Scorpio. And of course, I have my grip strength to thank for that.

It held the lower part of the stinger tightly and refused to let go, like that stalker of a man who refuses to take no for an answer.

I never knew I had such an insane hand dexterity. Or is this just another effect of my awakening?...

Nevertheless, the macro scorpio was also not willing to give up. It remained relentless as it flung its tail left and right aggressively, looking at every turn it could to get me off.

It became aware of how persistent I was willing to be, and because of that, the macro scorpio stuck to more daring options.

The macro scorpio charged ahead, as it ran hastily. I turned my head ahead to see where it was running to.

"Damn!!". I hastily lamented.

It was running toward a tree, and I could already guess what it intended to do once it got to the tree.

With no choice left, I quickly let go of its tail and dashed away from the macro Scorpio.

Once I had released my hold on its tail, my body was flung into the air, about to make an abrupt crash on the ground.
