Chapter 63 - Destroy Bifrost

Loki was the first to arrive at Bifrost's command center. He activated Bifrost at full power and set his target on Jotunheim.

Bifrost was not only a teleportation device, but also a planet-cracking superweapon. In full power, It could destroy Jotunheim and exterminate all the Frost Giants on it.

Loki had gone insane in his quest for Odin's recognition. He already knew about his Frost Giant ancestry, but he still readily ordered their extinction. To call him ruthless was an understatement.

Bifrost unleashed a seven-colored pillar of light that contained terrifying energy directly at Jotunheim. The Frost Giants of Jotunheim scattered in all directions when they saw the violent attack.

The Frost Giant suffered countless casualties. Jotunheim was filled with all kinds of screams, cries, and angry shouts. They would have no way of knowing that their own descendant was behind this destruction.

...

Thor arrived with Mjolnir right after the activation was completed. Somehow he was slower than Loki despite flying in the air...

"Loki, what have you done?" Thor asked in horror when he saw the frozen Bifrost.

"What did I do? I did what you should have done! I ended the thousand-year war between Asgard and Jotunheim. I proved that I'm a better king for Asgard!" Loki shouted at Thor, his face full of madness.

"No, you can't do this! You can't destroy Jotunheim, wiping the entire race of Frost Giant. We cannot become the butchers of destruction!"

Thor had grown a lot during his time on Earth. He had understood the meaning of Odin's messages. A worthy king would not start a war first.

There would never be a real winner in an endless war. The people would only drown in the river of blood from endless slaughter.

"Hah! You became so weak just from visiting Midgard once! Where was that Thor that rushed into enemy territory and started slaughtering them? Where did the bloodthirsty Thor go?

"Now you even dare lecture me? What made you change so much? Oh, I understand now. It was that Midgard woman, Jane, wasn't it? I should personally pay her a visit after finishing Jotunheim!"

Loki's expression was filled with insane jealousy. He had no idea how his brother could change so much just by meeting a mortal.

"I will definitely stop you, Loki!"

Thor saw that his words weren't working and prepared to make a move. The naive fool had no idea that Loki just wanted to buy time.

Now that Bifrost was sealed in ice and was fully activated, its energy output would increase exponentially. After a certain point, stopping it would be impossible.

Thor's body flashed with electric arcs, poised to attack. The current Thor was much stronger than before.

After gathering energy, Thor launched at Loki. Loki was prepared and met Thor head-on with his spear. Unfortunately, Loki was sent flying by Thor's hammer; even wielding Odin's divine artifact, Gungnir, he couldn't fend against one move from Thor.

Is this power of the Asgardian bloodline?

Loki looked at Thor's lightning-clad form in shock.

He had imagined that Thor would fight Gungnir to a draw, at most. The difference in their inherent strength shouldn't be that far, allowing him to stall for the Bifrost to destroy Jotunheim.

But Thor's strength was far beyond his own. How could he stall his brother?

...

"Father, why are you here?" Loki suddenly asked with a serious face, looking straight behind Thor from his position on the ground.

Thor was shocked, naive as he was. He hurriedly turned around and immediately regretted it.

The moment Thor turned his head, a sly smile appeared on Loki's face. He held Gungnir in his hand and used his strongest attack, firing a beam of light at Thor's back.

Thor had no time to dodge and was sent flying by the dazzling beam of yellow light, landing on the glass-like Bifrost.

Even Thor would be heavily injured by such an attack. The blood in his chest surged; he wouldn't calm down for a while. Loki was still far from being able to unleash Gungnir's true power, but he didn't need to.

Loki obviously wouldn't just let Thor go after just one attack. He rushed at Thor, who was lying on the ground.

(Is this what "victory lap" mean? ^_^)

Energy attacks require the release of one's own divine power, and Loki had used all his strength in the attack just now. Of course, there was a "cooldown" to such an attack, so he couldn't use it again yet. He had no choice but to get closer to Thor.

Thor hurriedly got up and fended against the flurry of rapid thrust from Loki.

Loki had the initiative and range advantage, so Thor could only passively defend, unable to counterattack.

Thor glanced at the Bifrost. A huge amount of energy was accumulating in it, the energy that flowed right to the beam that attacked Jotunheim. If he let it flow for too long, he really wouldn't be able to close the Bifrost.

Thor, in his anxiety, abandoned the notion of not hurting Loki. He activated his divine power and raised his Mjolnir, unleashing a pillar of lightning right at Loki's body.

Loki was blown away like a ragdoll by the attack, falling right on the edge of Bifrost. He was able to grab it just before falling down.

"Thor, help me! Your attack was too strong; I can't hold on!" Loki pleaded with a pitiful face.

"Loki, don't you dare lie to me. I won't fall for your tricks again!"

"Brother, I wouldn't lie to you in this situation. I really can't hold on any longer, help me!" Loki shouted anxiously when Thor didn't believe him and walked away. He even called Thor "brother."

Thor's figure suddenly stopped. He hesitated; Loki didn't seem to be lying this time. He didn't know if he should help the God of Mischief.

"Brother... I wouldn't blame you. It was the result of my actions."

Loki seemed to be exhausted. He slowly let go of the hand that was holding on to Bifrost's edge and fell into the abyss below the bridge.

"No!!!"

Thor had no time to think and lunged forward to grab Loki's hand, but he was a moment too late. He couldn't grab his hand and was left to watch Loki fall down powerlessly.

"It wasn't your fault" was written on Loki's face.

Thor felt intense anger and regret. Tears swirled in his eyes. Why did he even hesitate? Because of that, his younger brother, Loki...

Thor wallowed in regret for several minutes. He then wiped his tears and stood back up, looking at the massive energy within Bifrost. He could no longer close it.

"Forgive me, Jane. This is what I must do. Brother, forgive me, but I can't let you slaughter an entire race!"

Thor stood up and channeled his grief into power. Countless bolts of lightning appeared on his body, bringing even more power to bear.

Thor used all his strength to slam his hammer into the Bifrost, intent on destroying the road from Asgard to the nine realms.

No!!!
