A few minutes ago, in SHIELD's headquarters building.
Nick Fury was leisurely sitting in his office, crossing his legs while sipping his coffee from time to time.
The screen in front of him displayed the chaos in a New York City neighborhood. The footage was sent by an agent a few minutes ago.
The government and the military had repeatedly called Nick Fury with requests for reinforcement, but Nick Fury rejected all of them.
"What a joke. Why should SHIELD clean up the military's mess? And if this incident gets big enough, the board might even approve the 'Avengers' initiative..."
Knock knock!
Suddenly, a series of knocks came from the door.
"Come in!" Nick put down the coffee in his hand and straightened his posture.
Coulson entered the room. "Director, this is..."
"Who is pestering us this time? The government? The military?" Nick Fury asked without raising his head.
"That's not it! Director, our on-site agent just sent new intel. I think you need to look at it; Li Yue had appeared at the scene."
"What?!" Nick Fury stood up in surprise, his one eye widening. He grabbed the tablet computer in Coulson's hand and looked at it.
It took Nick Fury less than a minute to recognize the figure in the video. The one fighting the yellow monster was definitely Li Yue, who had disappeared in the last few months.
Nick Fury immediately dialed a number from his phone. The call was rejected, but Nick Fury calmly called it again.
"Hey, Nick Fury, why are you bothering me instead of recruiting your band members? Hadn't I rejected you?"
A cynical voice came from the other side of the line, with irritating words as per usual. It was Tony Stark.
"Stark, did you know what just happened in Harlem, New York?" Nick Fury asked in a deep voice, ignoring Tony's tone.
"Of course, I know; Jarvis kept me up to date. Rhodes even called me to help, but I rejected him. I don't want to clean up the military's mess. Are you going to tell me to go help them too? Sorry, but I refuse! I'd rather die than get involved with that bullshit," Tony replied with a rant as if he was a machine gun of words.
Nick Fury frowned for a moment, but he then relaxed.
"We just wanted to inform you that Mr. Li Yue is currently in trouble. But since you don't want to help him, I will go find someone else," Nick Fury said in a calm but tantalizing tone.
"Jarvis, get the armor, now!"
Nick Fury smirked when he heard the hurried voice on the phone.
Coulson felt somewhat nostalgic at the scene in front of him.
...
Li Yue was desperately suppressing the restless cells in his body. He didn't want to become a shit-yellow monster like the one in front of him.
Abomination had rampaged out of pain from his severed right hand. Fortunately, the civilians had long been evacuated. The only victim of his rampage was the smashed cars.
Li Yue finally suppressed the throbbing in his body and looked at Abomination again. He thought hard about how to kill this rampaging ugly monster as soon as possible. He wouldn't be able to stop his evolution into a monster otherwise.
Li Yue carefully observed Abomination's every move, waiting for the opportunity to attack.
Finally, when Abomination threw a car away with his left hand, Li Yue disappeared from where he was and reappeared right in front of Abomination. His left hand turned into a long, thin sword, barely a centimeter thick.
Li Yue stabbed Abomination's left chest with his sword-hand. As expected, the sword pierced cleanly through Abomination's torso.
Abomination was caught off guard by this attack. His left hand hurriedly clenched into a fist and punched Li Yue's body. However, he couldn't use his full strength.
Li Yue already expected this. His right hand quickly turned into a circular shield and blocked Abomination's punch. He borrowed the momentum from the punch to pull his left hand out and jumped back several meters.
Li Yue looked at his sword-hand and frowned. It was covered by a disgusting yellow liquid. He hurriedly wiped it off before sighing in relief. Li Yue didn't have mysophobia or anything; Abomination's blood was simply too disgusting.
Li Yue returned to his senses after cleaning his left sword-hand. He looked at Abomination again—and he was dumbstruck. Abomination was still very lively as if the monster hadn't been injured at all. The wound on Abomination's left chest had stopped bleeding and was slowly closing. The wound on his right hand had stopped spurting blood and closed in a scab.
"Awesome! He is fine even after I stabbed his heart! His tenacious vitality was great, but he was just too ugly..." Li Yue couldn't help but praise Abomination. He was tempted to give applause.
However, he was still in the middle of a life-or-death fight. His body had begun to show another evolution sign after the attack just now.
Li Yue calmly waited for the next opportunity to attack. Abomination also seemed to have sharpened a bit; he no longer thrashed around wildly. He instead observed Li Yue closely in case Li Yue went for another backstab.
Just like that, both sides stared at each other. A minute passed, and suddenly, there was a loud "boom" behind Abomination.
Abomination subconsciously looked back. He found a massive crater behind him.
"Not good—" Abomination realized that he had been distracted, but it was too late.
Of course, Li Yue would not miss such a good opportunity. He teleported right behind Abomination, in the air around the monster's head.
He had turned his right hand into a sword: thicker, this time, and slightly shorter. He slashed horizontally at Abomination's neck.
Bam! Bam!
Two sounds came one after another. Abomination's huge body fell to the ground, making a loud noise. The monster's head fell not far away from his body, disbelief still etched on his face.
Li Yue let out a long sigh of relief. It was finally over.
Don't ask Li Yue what it felt like to kill someone for the first time. First, he had long prepared himself. Second, could such an ugly Abomination still be considered a person?
Roar!
But before Li Yue could breathe a sigh of relief, a loud roar came from the big crater, and at the same time, a large green hand reached out from it.
