The crowd in the city below finally noticed the wormhole in the sky, as well as the aliens that charged out of it!
They began running in all direction in their panic, filling the streets with screams!
"What the hell is that?"
While everyone were fleeing in panic, someone noticed something else: a faintly discernible veil of blue light above their heads! It shimmered under the sunlight!
The aliens that appeared from the wormhole rushed towards the people on the ground, eager to attack. It charged right at the transparent dome of light!
But the barrier was stronger than anyone could expect. Instead of bursting like a bubble, the alien was the one that exploded into a fireball!
"Hey look! That dome is protecting us!"
Many people were stunned by the unbelievable scene, and subconsciously stopped in their tracks! They just stood there as they watched more and more aliens bursting into flames above them!
The fireball from the countless exploding alien bloomed like beautiful fireworks! It's almost a pity that it was daytime—it surely would've been prettier had it occurred at night!

"Stark, when did you set this energy shield up? How come we knew nothing about it?"
When the Captain and the others finally reached New York City, they widened their eyes in disbelief: the entire city was encased by glowing blue energy shield!
T'Challa compared the energy shield to the one in his home country of Wakanda, and found that it was incredibly similar in strength!
Tony had only obtained this technology for the past year, yet he had been able to improve so much compared to the one in his Black Room. As expected of a true genius!
"Well, you know, it was mostly a hobby project. Originally I just wanted to protect my own building, but I decided I might as well make it bigger. I didn't expect that it would really come into use today!"
Tony proudly smiled as he answered the questions!
"Now, let's get to work, people. I can vouch for this energy shield's strength, but it came at a cost. It needs a lot of energy, so much that even the building reactor can only support it for an hour!
"We need to eliminate our enemy as soon as possible!"
Tony's proud confidence in his technology abruptly ended as he revealed the crucial weakness of his shield. While this shield was just as strong as Wakanda's energy shield, it consumed way too much energy to be sustained for a long period of time!
"Stark, how are we supposed to land? Where are the nodes for this energy shield? We would just end up like those alien if we carelessly rush in!"
T'Challa questioned Tony when he heard Tony's requests!
Different from Tony's shield dome, Wakanda's energy shield was constantly supplied with large amount of Vibranium to power it, so it can operate continuously! In order to allow for vehicles and people to enter and leave the constantly-active shield, there were special nodes in the shield that allowed them to pass!
However, Tony didn't tell them about the nodes in the shield—or if such nodes existed at all! It was the same as asking them to die!
"Don't worry, I've programmed the shield to let your aircraft through. You can just fly normally!"
Tony answered T'Challa's question, as if it was obvious!
"Is that even possible?"
T'Challa was confused. He didn't know that the shield could be programmed in that way!
"Well, Stark wouldn't lie to us about something like this. We need to hurry up!"
The aircraft flew right at the energy shield, but unlike the crashing aliens, they safely crossed through the shield with no damage whatsoever!
As expected, Stark did not lie to them!

A Chitauri leader was observing the situation. He deduced that the specific spot that the aircraft had just passed was a safe passage through the shield. He commanded the other Chitauri in their language to focus on that position!
The intelligence of the average Chitauri soldier wasn't very high, as proven by the continuous stream of Chitauri soldier that crashed and exploded into the energy shield!
However, what they lacked in intelligence, they made up in obedience and fearlessness!
Obeying the order of their leader, countless Chitauri drove their aircraft towards the specific spot in the shield where the Captain and the others entered!
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
However, dozens of explosions immediately followed. The wave of Chitauri aircrafts exploded in a massive fireball, completely annihilated!
The second wave of Chitauri had no time to slow down and similarly crashed into the shield!
Unexpectedly, a single Chitauri had crossed through the energy shield. He was severely injured, but he didn't explode!
His companions weren't as lucky, however. They crashed into the shield and exploded!
The lone Chitauri within the shield roared. He looked down at the ant-like crowd of humans below him with cold eyes, like a beast that just found its prey, before rushing down!
Bang!
An energy beam shot accurately at the lucky Chitauri soldier. It seemed to have used up its luck crossing through the shield, as it was hit by the beam and exploded into pieces!
The Chitauri leader pondered what he had just witnessed. Even the one soldier that was lucky enough to pass through the barrier cannot escape the fate of destruction.
It was clear that the Chitauri leader had much higher intelligence than the soldiers. That was an extremely low bar, though!

"Finally! We need a plan to kill the enemy—they seemed to have found weakness in the shield!
Tony casually shot the lucky Chitauri soldier with his cannon as he greeted the people that disembarked from his flying device!
As Tony had said, the Chitauri soldier no longer thoughtlessly smashing into the protective shield! They had instead formed special formations!
A formation consisted of three Chitauri soldiers, two in the front and one in the back. The front two would smash into the energy shield, and just before the energy shield could recover, the soldier in the back would take the opportunity to breach through the shield!
"Cap, your orders?"
Tony turned to Captain America with trusting gaze, waiting for the Captain to instruct him with a battle plan!
"All of our members have great combat strength, but only Stark and Thor could properly fight while flying, so you two would be responsible for eliminating aliens that rushed out of the wormhole!
"While I can also fly, I can't perform a large-scale attack, so I will stay under the energy shield and clean up the enemies that breached the barrier!
"Annie, you can use long-range attack, so you stay here and assist me to eliminate the enemies that slipped me!
"T'Challa and Danny Rand, go to the ground and assist in evacuating the citizens. Protect them from the aliens!"
The Captain stepped up and naturally filled the role of a leader, forming a battle plan!
"Dr. Banner, it is currently not necessary for Hulk to assist us, so please watch over Loki and make sure he doesn't cause any trouble! You may deal with any emergency as you see fit!"
The Captain addressed Banner last, after assigning the others their role!
"Understood, Captain" x6
"Alright, let's begin the operation!" The Captain ordered the Justice League to begin the battle after he finished giving his orders!
