Chapter 121 - Auctions

After arriving at the Sabaody Archipelago, Locke gave them three days of vacation. Then, he let them wander around the Sabaody Archipelago, he brought Luce to the amusement park in the Sabaody Archipelago.

In the amusement park, Locke and Luce had a good time playing. Under Luce's lead, they played with a spinning wooden horse, roller coaster, giant pendulum, and many other exciting projects.

"Hey, Locke, there's a haunted house over there! Come, let's go take a look." When Luce saw a huge Haunted House, she ran over with Locke excitedly. When they reached the entrance of the Haunted House, Locke immediately sensed a familiar presence.

"Locke, wait for me here. I'll go buy the tickets." Luce excitedly said to Locke before running to the ticket office. Locke nodded, then turned to look at a specific place at the entrance of the Haunted House.

A man wearing a black shirt, a pair of black pants, a couple of slippers, and a head of black hair was sitting on a long chair. Locke smiled and slowly walked toward the man. "Hey, it's been more than two years. I didn't expect to meet you here." Locke walked in front of the man and said directly.

Hearing someone talking to him, the man opened his eyes slightly and looked at Locke. "Isn't this recently famous captain of Locke Pirates Locke? I didn't expect you to have arrived at the Sabaody Archipelago." The man looked at Locke lazily.

Locke looked at the lazy man who didn't have the heroic spirit he had when they first met. He suddenly became curious. He was very curious about what had happened in the past two years. What had caused that man to become like this now? Locke walked to his side and sat down on the long chair.

"You've changed a lot in the past two years." Locke looked at the sky and said with emotion.

"Yes, it has changed a lot. You became a famous pirate in two years, but I became a small employee of an ordinary Haunted House." The man sighed softly.

"An Zi, I am inquisitive. How did the spirit king become so decadent in two years?"

"Huh? Spirit King? I haven't heard anyone call me that in a long time." When An Zi heard the word, Spirit King, he laughed at himself. "There are no more Spirit Kings now. Little Locke, it's time for me to go to work." After saying that, An Zi stood up and left, walking into the Haunted House through the back door.

Locke looked at An Zi, who had entered the Haunted House and became even more curious. The man who had been able to take Roger's blow two years ago and looked heroic back then, how did he become like this?

"Hey, Locke, why are you here? Quick, I've already bought the tickets. Let's go!" Rose ran from the side, grabbed Locke's hand, and walked toward the Haunted House. Locke temporarily put the matter of Anzi aside and concentrated on accompanying Luce into the Haunted House.

This Haunted House was nothing special, and there was no horror atmosphere. He did not understand why Luce had hugged him so tightly in fear. When they came out of the Haunted House, Princess Locke carried out Luce. Unknowingly, a day passed while Locke and Luce were wandering around.

At night, Locke and Luce were wandering around the food street. When they passed by a barbecue stall, Locke saw An Zi again. He was still sitting there with a gloomy face, drinking wine and eating barbecue. Luce followed Locke's gaze and looked over.

"What a frustrated man." Luce grabbed Locke's shoulder and wanted to pull him away. However, Locke ignored Luce and walked straight to Anzhi, sitting opposite him. An Zi looked up at Locke, who was wearing casual clothes. He said nothing and continued drinking his wine and eating barbecue.

Rose stomped her feet and walked over. She sat beside Locke and looked at An Zi with a hostile gaze. Locke picked up a skewer and ate it without any politeness. "An Zi, I am very curious. What kind of blow did a man like you suffer to become so decadent?" An Zi looked up at Locke and then looked at Rose.

"Hey, why didn't you go shopping with your woman? Why did you come to disturb me, a decadent uncle?" An Zi sighed helplessly. "Look, your woman is looking at me with a bad look. It seems that I have disturbed your date." Luce had a knowing expression as she picked up a meat skewer and ate it.

"Oh, the taste is not bad." Luce praised, then ignored the two men and continued destroying the table's meat. "Hey, I bought that. You have to be more polite!" An Zi said helplessly. "Hey, Little Locke, do you want to hear a story?"

"I'm all ears." After receiving a positive reply from Locke, An Zi took a deep breath. "Alright, then I'll tell you." An Zi grabbed the bottle and drank a few mouthfuls. Then, he slowly talked to Locke about what had happened in the past two years. Two years ago, after receiving Roger's sword and leaving, An Zi fainted because of his severe injuries.

The ghost ship that had lost control of his ability also fell from the sky into the sea. In a storm, his ship was also directly smashed by the waves. Perhaps the heavens did not want to take him in, and a broken board tightly hooked the unconscious him so he did not sink into the sea.

After a long drifting, the unconscious An Zi came to a strange island and was rescued by a young girl from the sea. After the careful care of the young girl, An Zi slowly woke up from his coma, and his wound slowly recovered.

Because the boat was smashed, and this village was too poor, no ship could let him go out to sea, and because he was too poor, no merchant ship was willing to pass by. Therefore, An Zi lived in the young girl's house.

Just like this, a year passed unknowingly. An Zi, who was already used to drifting on the sea, actually felt a little good under the careful care of the young girl. Moreover, he suddenly found that he liked the young girl who was gentle and cheerful every day, no matter what difficulties she faced.

Until one day, An Zi couldn't bear it and confessed to the young girl. And the young girl also unwittingly fell in love with the handsome and brave An Zi in a year of interaction. Naturally, the two of them were together. Initially, when An Zi thought he could spend the rest of his life happily with the girl, the one night of quarrel ended his fantasy.

One night, when An Zi and the girl were sitting at the door and looking at the sea, An Zi suddenly told the girl about his previous experience as a pirate. When she heard that An Zi was a pirate in the past, the girl was very excited and broke free from his embrace.

The girl who always smiled in the face of any difficulties, when she learned that he was once a pirate, she lost her smile and looked at An Zi angrily. She roared and cursed An Zi wildly, then ran out crying loudly. This was the first time An Zi saw the girl reveal such a ferocious expression.

In the following days, An Zi did not see the girl. Until one day, a week later, the villagers found the girl's body under a mountain cliff. After seeing the girl's body, An Zi went crazy. Until that moment, An Zi found that he had fallen deeply in love with the girl.

As a result, the girl committed suicide because she knew her identity as a pirate. At that moment, how much hope An Zi had. That night, he did not tell the girl his identity as a pirate. After burying the girl, An Zi learned about the girl's past from the other villagers.

It turned out that the girl's parents went out of the sea together and encountered the attack of the pirates. All of them died under the knives of the pirates. Therefore, the girl was highly resentful of the pirates. Anyone who talked about pirates in front of the girl would make the girl lose her gentle smile and become ferocious.

After the girl passed away, An Zi understood why the young girl chose to commit suicide and end her life. For such a girl who hated pirates so much, she fell in love with a pirate and lived together, which made her heart collapse.

She could not forgive herself for falling in love with pirates and living with them for so long, so she chose to end her life. When he understood these things, An Zi undoubtedly regretted it. He regretted why he had been a pirate and why he told the girl his identity as a pirate. In this self-reproach, An Zi became more and more decadent.

He lost his former heroic ambition and became a sloppy, lazy uncle. On one of the unplanned stops of a merchant ship, he left the village, which made him sad and arrived at the Sabaody Archipelago. Thus, he settled down here and found a Haunted House to work in to prevent himself from starving to death.

At this point, An Zi did not say anything else. He asked the boss to deliver a few bottles of rum and drank them one by one. After Locke heard about An Zi's death, he sighed. He didn't expect An Zi to encounter such a melodramatic love story. Locke picked up a bottle of rum and clinked it with An Zi.

"An Zi, I have to say, you are a bit pitiful." After saying that, Locke finished the wine in the bottle in one go. "Hey, there is a big auction in the Sabaody Archipelago tomorrow. There are devil fruits for sale!" Luce was interested in something other than the melodramatic love story of Anzi.

He looked at a newspaper that he had just bought from a little boy who sold newspapers and said in surprise. Locke curiously took the newspaper and looked at it.

"It looks interesting. Let's go together tomorrow. An Zi?"

"Ah, I'll forget it. I still have work to do tomorrow." An Zi rejected Locke's invitation. He picked up a bottle of wine and went to the boss to settle the bill. He waved at Locke and left. Locke sighed as he watched An Zi's figure disappear into the distance.

"The world is changing."

"Hmph, don't bother about that idiot! Locke, let's go see the auction tomorrow!"

"Well, let's go see it together tomorrow. I look forward to seeing something interesting tomorrow." Locke looked at a specific title in the corner of the newspaper, and the corners of his mouth curled into a smile.
