He let out an exasperated sigh, it replayed again in his mind clear as if it happened moments ago. He died the almighty arc-angel strongest of the angels yet weirdly he felt annoyed than anger. 'I should be angrier,' he thought 'I just died at the hands of my brother no less, the memory stirs no strong emotion my main concern lies elsewhere…'
Alyssa hummed loudly to a song playing on the radio after the initial shock and vigorous checks which Michael could not really understand she had calmed down, now they drove away from the school after determining that he had enough of school for that day he did not care much. 'My memories are in shambles fragmented into varying pieces, some have come back but not in order, I remember coming to find my brother amongst the humans then…my death.' Alyssa continued to hum Michael stared blankly outside the window cars passed by endlessly 'it seems humans colluded with Lucifer to end me I cant trust them, if he were to ever find out I am not actually dead he would surely come to kill me again I will not let that happen mainly because I don't know what would happen maybe permanent death?
If I were to meet him head on it would be an utter loss in my current state I need to get stronger before I make my next move' he clenched his small fists frustration welling up at the idea of having to hide amidst humans but what other choice is there? His brother would kill him on sight, he could not ask help from his other brethren being that they were in a realm unreachable by humans and even if he somehow got to them would they even recognize him? Michael left heaven centuries ago and has been dead for probably at least a quarter if not half that time 'whatever form of help for me is dead and gone this is my new life and I intend to survive at least until I kill my treacherous brother.'
"Michael are you feeling alright?" lost in his thoughts he'd forgotten about Alyssa driving next to him, she noticed the eerie silence that was weird even for her son she glanced sideways "Do you need anything" she asked concern underlined her tone.
"I am fine mum." The word suddenly felt weird forced really, it left a bad after taste in hs mouth like something he's been saying for a long time that he now discovered was a lie, it left a bad after taste on the tongue he just hoped that the woman had not noticed. Alyssa looked puzzled for a moment
"Ok my little boy." She said brightly telling herself everything was fine suppressing that ill-conceived voice at the back of her mind, attributing her son's weird behavior to simply a bad day.
"Want to play a game?" before Michael could answer she continued "I spy with my little eye…."
By the time she stopped Michael thought this wasn't reincarnation it was the realm of hell.
They turned into a secluded paved road leaving the sounds of cars zipping back, the place absurdly quiet and different from the demeanor of urban city buildings he saw on the way. This place was different almost secretive like piece of land everyone don't know exists or were not allowed into by the owners.
Michael knew this road they'd only brought him here a couple of time the giant mansions streamlined on either side screamed wealth spaced evenly, some had gardens or wide drive ways one even had a blue and red batting cage beside its three storey long grey structure, another had a large open garage door where gleaming polished convertibles and other sorts of expensive cars went in Michael gathered it must go on inward. All of them white-gray or cream colored two or three storey high except one whose enormous width seemed to compensate what it lacked in height. The houses weren't that many but still enough to raise the question of the whereabouts of their owners or at least people who stayed in them.
The place was woefully empty and quiet that if not for the apparent freshness of human touch it resembled a post-apocalyptic world.
They had no gates or visible security measures apart from CCTV cameras that slightly turned as they passed but Michael knew there must be some sort of safety protocols if he's learned something over the years about humans is that they liked to protect their stuff.
Their final destination was far more grandeur than any of them in comparison; perched on a low hillock at the midst of green silky grass stood a manor better than any palace from back when he was alive and an angel
The walls had soft golden cream color, six golden cream colored pillars stood at the front, what he supposed were the left and right wing of the castle-like mansion each wing extending wide and high in its self. The Victorian era building if you can call it that was a mix of the old, the new and everything in between. With modern yet olden styled windows circling the white-golden towers as tall as one would imagine in a fairytale if not better. It eclipsed all the others partly because its position overlooked the rest of them, their small Prius stopped Alyssa peered out of her window looking directly towards a small black camera with a red dot in the middle at the top right corner of the gate, it seemed to stare back at her before the gate automatically opened wide. The B split along with the gate each of its halves separating along with the gate; one could not have noticed this if they haven't seen the gate open.
They drove up a dark paved driveway that went up towards a large fountain made with an angel statue at its center spewing out water, she circled around it then parked "I will be right back." She declared leaving the car windows open Michael remained quiet.
The main doors made elongating seven feet of height grand entrenched with several depictions atop concentric circular stairs, Michael could not notice much as Alyssa his "Mother" that word still felt weird, parked a little bit ways off the house.
Michael waited until she disappeared behind the aesthetically stilled doors he opened the car door and left.
He went down the small hill the manor loomed casting its enormous shadow over him, on the far right side of the house an artificial forest spread out going farther on the side he spotted a small lake outstretched near the forest. "I wonder what this body can do after all its not bad to have a plan if things go awry, can I escape should the occasion arise" he stared at the forest estimating its distance from the Prius he could hear sounds of the manor's door being open Alyssa was going back to the car he smiled then sprinted at his top speed.
Alyssa frowned "did he leave the car?" her doubts disappeared when she saw Michael's head rise from behind the passenger seat door. Michael tried to control his breath 'apparently I am not as fast as I'd thought if I hadn't turned back halfway through she would have caught on' he wiped sweat and annoyance from his face then looked at Alyssa she was not alone.
A man walked beside her; wearing a white-red and blue striped short sleeved shirt with well fitted black pants, his feet in black dress-shoes. He smiled as he made his way over to where they had parked, Michael's father and Alyssa's husband Liam Baymore stood at five foot nine. He had kind eyes that shone whenever he saw his family, a wide smile aligned by a well styled full beard under his small nose and beside his lips which went in contrast with his exceptionally bald honey-brown head. A combination that along with a lean built muscular body made him exceptionally attractive.
"Hey Little Man." He said cheerfully "heard you got a little trouble at school you feeling alright."
"Um yes…"
"That's my little man!" he ruffled Michael's soft curly black hair, his head ached.
"Your father says hi!"
Alyssa rolled her eyes while starting the car "And he couldn't come and say so himself why?" Andrew smiled "he's swamped with launching the new branch office downtown." Alyssa scoffed "he always is busy."
They delved into a conversation where upon Alyssa's voice would become sarcastic whenever it her father's name would arise. Andrew sat in the back seat leaving Michael in the front Alyssa would glance at him from the rear view mirror. Apparently Andrew was an engineer Bailon Inc. just contracted him for the construction of another one of its branches in the east coast and was until that moment in a meeting with Simon Bailon CEO and father to Alyssa thus grandfather to Michael and his father in-law.
Michael didn't care one bit for him or whatever dealings he may have with his parents. From the memories of his short life at the age of five Simon Bailon felt insignificant, he had less than a handful of appearances.
He was more focused on other more urgent issues like for instance how to protect himself from his long hated enemy/brother Lucifer the Morningstar as he dubbed himself "the light-bringer" Michael scoffed at the pretentious name. Lucifer had managed to kill him once and would undoubtedly try again if or worse when he finds out about his weakened existence.
'What do humans say "Kill me once…" he needed to plan as soon as possible.
