Chapter Twelve

The colors varied as well from soft cream, white and black. The tiles were still grey, but the walls were cream. Following the receptionist instructions, she searched for the office and clumsily bounced in another human, who turned out to be the same one from the ground floor. Whoops.

This time the girl was stepping from the women's bathroom. And she was passing next to it.

"Oh, my god! What is wrong with you?! Are you blind?!"

Screaming or more like shrieking, Sherlene was livid as she scrutinized the same girl in front of her.

"No. Not really. I did not see you. Honestly speaking."

'Her voice is annoying.'

Sherlene irritatingly thought.

Growling, she stretched her hands for her trailing assistant to pick her papers from the floor, which she had dropped from the collision.

"Why do I always meet people like you?"

"People like me?"

Frowning, Sharlene was offended.

"We have never met before."

Flipping her hair, Sherlene spat.

"Whatever."

She quickly walked towards a row of chairs and begrudgingly sat on them.

'Well, that was crazy.'

Thinking this, Sharlene fixed her ruffled shirt.

Gazing at the words written on the door a few seats away from the huffing girl, Sharlene gazed down at the paper in her hands.

It was the doctor she needed to see.

Walking over, she sat down two seats away from the girl, who had removed her makeup from inside her purse, and began pampering her already perfect face. Gazing up from the kit, she frowned when she witnessed the girl sitting opposite her.

"Are you following me?"

Waving a hand in front of her, Sharlene scrunched her nose.

'Does this girl have a princess complex?'

"No, I am not."

"Why are you here?"

"Rude much. This hospital is not for you only."

Sharlene retorted while the girl continued to size her up.

'What's wrong with her?'

"I'll have you know my father owns this hospital, and if I just snap my finger, he can kick you out."

Rolling her eyes, Sharlene folded her arms on top of her chest.

"I am afraid you cannot do that because your father was the one who made the statement that medicals were free for the next two weeks. I have an appointment with the doctor, so you cannot do anything."

"I don't like you."

Huffing, the girl did not look convinced as she closed the makeup kit and shoved it in her bag.

"The feelings mutual."

"I don't want to talk to you no more."

"Me too."

Silence ascended between the two women as they waited for the doctor. Soon, the door opened, and a smiling woman left the room. Sending a glare in her direction, Sherlene dismissed her assistant before entering the room.

Tapping her hands as she watched the unaffected assistant leaving the room, Sharlene removed her phone to check for any messages or calls, but surprisingly, she had nothing. To allow time to pass, she indulged herself in Wordscape. When she won level 878, the door opened, and the girl exited without a single glance at her, which she was thankful about.

She did not like stuck-up women. She already had one as a boss, so she did not need another.

Standing, she shoved her phone in her purse and entered the room. Surprisingly, the appointment had not taken long, and soon, she left for another room, where a nurse would undergo her examination.

Excited, she was about to bend the corner when she collided a third time with the girl. This time, they both fell onto the floor because they were both not paying attention.

"Ow."

Sharlene hissed as she rubbed her poor and sore butt, while the girl rubbed her thumping head, where their two foreheads had collided.

Their papers had also flown everywhere, causing Sharlene to groan. Before she could stand to retrieve hers, the girl was like a screaming tornado, if one could.

"I can sue you for hitting me, you know! How daft can you be?!"

"Me?"

Pointing at herself, Sharlene scoffed.

"You are the one who was not looking where you were going, lady."

Gasping and standing from her unladylike posture, the girl fished up her papers with a loud snarl.

"Did you just call me, lady?"

Heads turned in her direction, but they did not care.

Rolling her eyes, Sharlene shrugged.

"Isn't that what you are?"

Today, she felt exceedingly bold. It was probably because she always wanted to give someone-most probably her boss a piece of her mind. Unfortunately, the spoiled woman standing in front of her was getting the brunt.

Narrowed eyes, Sherlene huffed.

"We better don't cross paths again because I will ask for a fine."

Sidestepping her, the girl rushed towards the bathroom to tidy up herself.

"Who cares!"

Barking behind her, Sharlene picked up her papers off the floor.

"Stupid rich people! Just because you have money to flaunt, you think you can boss everyone around!"

Shouting, Sharlene slowly stood from the floor. Placing the papers in her bag, she ignored the people studying eyes and walked over to sit on one of the similar-looking seats with a small huff.

A few minutes later, the girl came rushing back, and sending a glare in her direction, she entered the room, where the nurse was patiently awaiting her. Half an hour later, the girl came out with a full-blown smile from the room. With a glare in her direction, she sashayed down the hallway and out of sight.

Ignoring the girl's childish banter, Sharlene entered the room.

"How are you doing today, Miss. Cunning-ham?"

The nurse asked with a smile as she read through the papers Sharlene had given to her.

"I would not say it was wonderful. I collided thrice with an annoying rich Princess who looked to have zero IQ. Talk about annoying."

Amused, the nurse began to prepare for the procedure by placing gloves on her hands.

"Was it the girl from earlier?"

"Yes. It was crazy. I don't understand why people with money think the world revolved around them."

Laughing, the nurse shrugged.

"That's how life is. Now jump on. Don't be nervous. It will be over soon."

Smiling, Sharlene complied, and the nurse proceeded. Five minutes later, the examination was over.

"Well, you are all set."

Smiling, Sharlene was about to climb off the bed when the nurse placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Don't move just yet. It takes a while."

Frowning, for she never knew Pap Smear to be so complicated, Sharlene was about to question the nurse when a timer suddenly went off.

"Okay. You can move now."

Jumping from her chair, the nurse disposed of her gloves.

"Okay?"

Undecided, Sharlene climbed down from the bed.

"I'll give you privacy to dress."

Stating that fact, she left Sharlene to dress back into her clothes. Two minutes later, and all dressed, she opened and peeping through the door to see the nurse conversing with another patient, she walked towards them.

"Oh, you are done. Please come back two to three weeks later for the results, okay?"

Returning the papers to her, the nurse had a friendly smile on her face.

"Thank you."

With that part of her day accomplished, Sharlene left the hospital with the thought of retrieving lunch as her second agender.
