Human knowledge is expanding from time to time, and it is on the line towards the destruction of the world. One of the main causes is the overdevelopment of technology. In addition, medical science is also advancing with the discovery of doctor nanomachines which are a group of gene-sized robots that can reconstruct damaged genes or even cells in the human body.
Unfortunately, these things only apply to those who have a lot of money and can afford the new tax system that the UN has established. Those who have no money and cannot afford the new tax system of the UN are the only ones affected. What's more, the settlements of those who can afford to pay taxes and those who can't are separated. The inequality between the two of them can be clearly seen, both physically and non-physically.
Each city is divided into two areas, a modern area and a rural area. Those who can pay taxes will be placed in the modern area and those who cannot pay taxes will be placed in the rural area. Those who live in modern areas are provided with advanced technology to support their daily lives and are given a lot of benefits from the local government. Meanwhile, those who live in rural areas are not provided with advanced technology and are even neglected by the local government.
April 4, 2047. An unidentified spaceship with a gigantic size and unique design appeared over the skies of Modern Tokyo, Japan. Citizens and the local government thought that it was a spaceship illegally developed by a certain company. The local police who were aware of that fact immediately investigated the unidentified spaceship by sending an investigation team consisting of 20 officers.
"Officers number 6 and 9 go over to the unidentified spaceship first and do a brief check according to the procedure," said Officer number 1 who is the head of the investigation team on the unidentified spaceship.
With the command from Officer Number 1, Officers Number 6 and 9 immediately rode on their anti-gravity motorcycles and flew to the unidentified spaceship. They flew around the unidentified spaceship for a while as they noted several aspects of the unidentified spaceship that violated UN regulations regarding illegal spaceship development.
"Report, Officer Number 1. We have noted various aspects of this unidentified spaceship that violate UN regulations regarding illegal spaceship development. However, we cannot identify the technology that was used to develop this unidentified spaceship as if it is not technology from Earth-" Suddenly the voice message from Officer number 6 was cut off and followed by a loud booming sound from above the sky.
Officer number 1 and the rest of the investigation team immediately looked up at the sky and they saw that the anti-gravity motorcycles belonging to Officers number 6 and 9 had been shot down. Meanwhile, the bodies of Officers number 6 and 9 had turned to liquid and fell from the sky like raindrops.
"Everyone..., fall back!" Officer Number 1 shouted as he rode his anti-gravity motorcycle. He and the rest of the investigation team left the scene and returned to the police station to report what happened. However, they were too late as the police station had been completely destroyed by the time they got there. "What..., happened?-" Suddenly a crimson beam shot toward Officer Number 1 and his team which then melted them into liquid in the blink of an eye.
The chaos that occurred in Modern Tokyo can be clearly seen from Rural Tokyo. The residents could see the beams raining down on Modern Tokyo and the explosions that followed. Some people were worried, some people were relieved by the thought it was God's punishment for those in Modern Tokyo, and some people thought it was a great opportunity to loot Modern Tokyo.
Those who thought of looting Modern Tokyo amidst the chaos that occurred were a gang of five led by a man named Ryu Asano. They are notorious in both Rural Tokyo and Modern Tokyo for the chaos they create. They commit various acts such as vandalism, destroying public facilities, and stealing from the local government.
"Fires are raging, buildings are collapsing, and people are screaming. You guys already know what we should do, right?" Ryu Asano said with a faint smile on his face as he opened an abandoned grain warehouse.
"Of course, we have to loot the treasures they left behind, boss," Hajime Tanaka said as he threw a key at Ryu Asano.
"Good answer," Ryu Asano said as he caught the key that Hajime Tanaka threw. He used the key to open the door of the anti-gravity car they had stolen from the home of a local government official. He got into the car and immediately started the engine. "Get in the car, boys!"
The four gang members led by Ryu Asano loaded the various tools they needed into the anti-gravity car and they got into it immediately afterward. With evil smiles on their faces, they headed toward Modern Tokyo which was undergoing destruction without knowing what would happen to them because of their stupidity.
When they arrived at the border between Rural Tokyo and Modern Tokyo, they could see a lot of people from Modern Tokyo who decided to escape to Rural Tokyo by riding their anti-gravity cars, anti-gravity motorcycles, anti-gravity buses, etc. At that time, Ryu Asano thought of a crazy idea to rob people from Modern Tokyo who wanted to escape to Rural Tokyo. He swerved his anti-gravity car and stopped it in the middle of the border gate to blockade it.
"Grab your weapons and let's confront those filthy rich people," Ryu Asano said as he took a shotgun from beneath his feet. He and his gang members got out of the anti-gravity car and pointed their weapons at the people who were heading toward them. "Wait for my signal to open fire, be sure to shoot those who were trying to put up a fight first."
Not long after, the people who were about to flee to Rural Tokyo stopped right in front of the border gate that had been blockaded by Ryu Asano and his gang members. They looked annoyed and shouted at Ryu Asano and his gang members to get out of the way immediately. However, they suddenly fell silent when Ryu Asano fired his shotgun at one of the anti-gravity cars.
Ryu Asano laughed and walked towards the anti-gravity car he had just shot. He aimed his shotgun at the person riding the anti-gravity car as he waved his hand at him. The person in the anti-gravity car was scared to death and immediately closed his eyes. However, Ryu Asano did nothing to him and instead shot the anti-gravity car's engine which made it unable to levitate anymore.
Not stopping there, Ryu Asano walked to the other anti-gravity cars and shot their engine as well. The anti-gravity cars that could no longer levitate can't be used anymore and blocked the path of the people behind them. Those carrying personal weapons were annoyed by Ryu Asano's actions and got out of their anti-gravity cars while pointing their weapons at him.
"Stop what you're doing or we'll shoot you!" said an old man with trembling hands who was pointing his gun at Ryu Asano.
Sighing, Ryu Asano raised both hands and dropped his shotgun. He walked over to the old man and stood on his knees before him. "Can I tell you something, Old Man?"
"Yeah, just tell me what it is and tell your friends to drop their weapons too," the old man said as he walked closer to Ryu Asano.
"I suppose that can be done later because what I'm about to say now is very important, Old Man. You should listen to it carefully because I might not be able to repeat it a second time," Ryu Asano said as he stood up and approached the old man. "Actually..., I don't really care what you say, Old Man. Someone like you who spends his life rolling in wealth doesn't deserve to order me to do something I don't want to."
"Huh?-" Suddenly Ryu Asano grabbed the gun that was in the old man's hand and pointed it straight back at him. The old man who could do nothing chose to raise his hand and return to his anti-gravity car which was no longer usable. The other people who saw what happened to the old man could not do anything either and chose to do the same by returning to their anti-gravity cars.
Ryu Asano picked up his shotgun that was lying on the ground and then pointed it upwards along with the gun he had taken from the old man. He fired both of them several times, scaring the people in front of him. "Listen to me! Leave all your belongings here, and we'll let you pass the border gate!" Ryu Asano said without realizing that the unidentified spaceship above Modern Tokyo was moving towards Rural Tokyo.
Some of the people from Modern Tokyo who realized that the unidentified spaceship started moving toward Rural Tokyo chose to abandon their vehicles and scattered in all directions to save themselves. However, it was too late for them as the unidentified spaceship had fired beams at them that made all of them melt in no time.
Ryu Asano also realized that the unidentified spaceship is moving toward the Rural Tokyo. He immediately turned around and told his gang members to start the engine of the anti-gravity car, but it was too late because the unidentified spaceship fired a beam toward the border gate and melted all four members of his gang. Witnessing that, he could do nothing but hold back his tears while looking for a safe place to hide from the unidentified spaceship.
He ran away from the main border road into the vast desert between Modern Tokyo and Rural Tokyo. He could only run and keep running without looking back, as he knew that the most important thing for him now was to save himself first. What's more, all he had were his gang members who he already considered like his own family and they were all dead.
Without realizing it, he was far away from the unidentified spaceship and was in the middle of a vast desert. He who had lost almost all of his stamina sat limply on the sand while lamenting the loss of his gang members because of his stupidity.
'Why?! Why did I invite them to loot Modern Tokyo when I knew it was dangerous?! If I hadn't asked them, I might still be laughing with them now! Damn, it!' Ryu Asano thought as he pounded on the sand that was continuously soaked by his teardrops.
"That's because you're a greedy fool. You're not a smart greedy person like those in Modern Tokyo. Furthermore, a selfish person like you who thinks that everything will be able to go according to your will is the stupidest person I've ever seen," a man's voice echoed inside Ryu Asano's head.
