In a blink— when she was finally able to blink— Kellen was out, not only Kellen but everyone that was present in the carriage with her. Now it was only her.
Celeste gazed down at the extended hand of Kellen, she gave in without a second thought because she was not as agonized as she was when she had stood in the courtyard of the pack house with Hesse.
Which meant the less cold her hand was at this moment in time. Kellen pulled her down, his face didn't twist in distaste.
"Come on." Kellen tilted his chin in her direction.
They walked to the gate through the pebbles. Through the different, enchanting colors of them. Celeste almost crouched down and took it in her palms. But she didn't, she had the manners to keep her hands to herself.
The front gate of the Palace cracked open with a loud creak. It lingered in the air before them. Or it lingered in and bounced on the walls inside her ears.
