Chapter 4 - An unpleasant Encounter

"Oh, Cele, why don't you wear something nice and bright?" A voice cut through the silent walls of the hallway and froze Celeste on her feet. Deyha. The back of her eyes burns, no, she won't let him look through her tears and glimpse her misery.

Celeste shut her eyes close, took a lungful of air, and turned to face him which she assumes is one of the utter mistakes she has made. She didn't want to see this malicious smile that tugs his lips in a smirk. Wrinkles fanning over his eyes and forehead. And the eyes that were always a soft warm brown whenever they looked at her are now gleaming red.

How could she be so oblivious all this time?

Celeste can't seem to make herself think of how much heartache this man must have given her dad that night, yet, knowing how much her dad had trusted this awful of a man. This is horrible, and he's horrid. Oh, how she wishes she could wipe his existence off the surface of Atelah and from this world.

"You should be happy, my dear. Knowing that you will be married to the love of your life soon." He says, walking toward Celeste with brows hunched up on his wrinkly forehead. And she sees no genuinity in his eyes.

"Why would I be happy to be married to someone who helped his rusty father to kill my parents? That would be my disastrous fate."  She mirrors his expression, a brow propped up on her forehead with a twisted smile.

"Disastrous fate? My lady, are you hearing yourself?"

"Why would I not be hearing myself, you old prick?" Deyha looks taken aback by her words but he's fast to school his expression.

"We did all this for you, my dear. Your father is the one who goes against your love. You hate that too." A frown keeps his lips down as he walks closer. Celeste can't believe this person. Is he for real? Killing her parents because they are against her love life?

"Don't!" She lifts a hand in the air. "Don't think you can swoon me by spewing bullshit on me. What makes you think I would be grateful for you killing my parents? Are you insane?!"

Celeste launches forward and grabs him by the collar of his white silk royal robe. "How can you do this to my dad? You bastard! How can you be so brutal?! He trusted you like no other and you know that! Your ugly greed for power and wealth will give you no good. If you've lived hundreds of years then why'd you do this to them?! Didn't you live enough already?"

Celeste didn't hear anyone approaching her nor sense the wetness of tears rushing down her face until Delian's cold hand pried her wrist from his father's collar with a single motion which showed no power but showed her how powerless she is.

He pulls her to him, cradling her head to his chest. A hand of his snaked Celeste's waist. "No, it's fine, sweetheart. Nothing's wrong." He whispers into her hair. And the walls of her tears broke down in a big crash as the tears flowed and flowed without a halt. She wonders why he's doing this to her.

But then again, she didn't have to wonder for so long when she hear Deyha's voice again. "It is so tragic that she lose her mind in the thought of her massive lose."

Celeste pushes Delian with all force she can muster from her vampire blood to which he stumbles back a few good steps. She saw his jaw tick through her blurry tears, but it was only there for a second, the next he was again beside her, this time his hands never dared to touch her.

"Delian, please do think if you still want her. There are good options for someone as powerful and elegant as you." oh, no.

"I only want her, Gyle. I love her too much to leave her when she's going through the hash phase of her life and needs me so much." The laugh that flies past her wet lips is malicious.

"Or, because that's the only way you can crawl into the throne of Atelah?" Celeste's eyes flash red at him, burning him. He looks at her with a long face, unimpressed. The hazel orbs of his watching her are void of any sentiment.

"You shouldn't doubt the one who dearly loves you, my dear, Cele." The rehearsed pain oozing down each of Deyha's words makes the back of her eyes burn all over again. How? How can someone be as manipulative as him?

"Shut your damn mouth old man! Didn't have what you wanted already? Stop this embarrassing drama of yours!—"

"Celeste, you've said enough!" Delian hisses, pointy fags staring right at her, threateningly.

"Yes! I've had enough, don't come after me, Delian!" She digs a finger at his chest before gliding through the thin air. All the eyes stare at her until she can't be seen.

Celeste shut the door behind her after dismissing all the maids that were assigned to take care of her. Why does she have to be taken care of when she doesn't want to live anymore?

Celeste's body slides through the smoothly polished wooden door as a silent sob getaway through her open lips.
