WOODEN WHEELS RATTLED back and forth across the cobblestone pavement leading to the city, indicating a healthy influx of men and goods. Such time of the year was especially teeming with people visiting Regalia. Nevertheless, such bustle was caused not only by the trade brought about by the harvest season, but also the scheduled ascension ceremony of the Interim Duke. A merchant with an astute business acumen would simply not pass the chance to visit a place with a high concentration of affluent patrons; a venture too lucrative to simply ignore. And so, the streets of Regalia became flooded with grain traders, as well as merchants dealing with silks, jewels, spices and other commodities. And such momentous occasion had not only attracted the avaricious appetite of merchants, but also another breed of opportunists. Inevitably, the event warranted the City Watch under Lord Kursoe Baldwin to tighten up its grip of the city, otherwise chaos would reign over.
