Upon the outskirts of the village, hidden behind the tall grasses and trees, soldiers in mail armor bearing the crest of the twin swords on their tabards attempted to conceal their presence as they probed around the palisade that enclosed the village of Sasbury. They saw no sentries stationed at the watchtowers, nor guards patrolling the vicinity, and not even villagers roaming about. It was as if the settlement was completely desolate, devoid of any lifeforms. Then suddenly, as the captain of the scouts scrutinized the area, another oddity registered in his mind.
He then motioned for the soldier on his back, ordering him. "You, head over the gate and check it, now!"
Quick upon his feet, the man-at-arms' body stepped out of his hiding place and marched on the entryway to the village. He then gently leaned his hands on the wooden gate, then applied a small ounce of his strength to test it then eventually pushed it, with the result greatly puzzling him.
