One hour and fifteen minutes have passed since she encountered her mate and her mind hasn't been at rest for a minute
The first reason because anytime she closes her eyes, she remembers the look on his face when he rejected her without even knowing her name, she also recalls the way his green eyes had a red pool in them and how alluring his facial structure was
The second reason is because she was scared he wasn't going to come back as planned and because of these reasons - she thinks - her chest kept beating faster with each second
She had thought of how everything could go wrong
How he could go back to his pack and demand they search for her and bring her to where everyone would see, force her to reject him, and then kill her? How if he did that, they're going to know about the rogue camp and then the rest would be a story
How if he doesn't do that, he could come back, reject her, and never look back, leaving her home in shambles
She also thought of how the Alpha made his way to the scene in the first place, how he found her even after she covered her traces, what he was doing in the vicinity, and if their meeting was fate or coincidence
She also kind of blamed herself for not moving out of her hiding place soon enough and for making noise instead of quietly returning to the camp.
At the same time, she praised her head for not rushing away because if she did, she wouldn't have met him as soon as she did
She also didn't let her head move past the fact that this could be the moment she had been waiting for, the opportunity to join a pack and finally live like the werewolf that she is, an opportunity to unleash her potential without getting crucified
And every time she felt a bit of joy, her chaos would seep out of her wolf, clouding her senses with images she would rather not see, ending the little joy she sprouted and almost taking her into her head
The one thing she had struggled to keep at bay since she got old enough to know about it was her chaos, and maybe because she was keeping it in, it kept eating her alive as the years went by, crashing her with gory sights and scary dreams, ones she would rather not relieve
"Bloodstain? Abby!" a voice said from beside her jerking her out of her mind and she turned around to see that it was just another friend of hers
She was thankful for the wake-up call though
"Maggie," she said lamely as she turned to fully face the brunet young lady who was looking like she was worried but also angry
"Standing with your back against the tree and staring into space with blood-stained clothes on you, kindly tell me you haven't caused trouble," Maggie said as she eyed Abelia up and down, praying to the goddess that she would be wrong
"Just how accurate can you be Maggie?" Abelia said sarcastically before sliding down the tree to sit on the ground
Margaret who she fondly calls Maggie has been her friend for a very long time. They met for the first time two years after her best friend found her mate, and it was when she was at one of her lowest points.
Even though they've been together since then, surviving together, for some reason, she couldn't have any strong intimate relationship with Maggie, she found it hard to open up to her or even have fun with her. Most days, she associated it with her wolf not liking Maggie's aura, and sometimes she just decided she didn't like her character, but deep down, she felt it was because they have contrasting fate
Maggie is also a cunning and selfish werewolf. She only does things that would benefit her, and since that is her type of werewolf, she decides to follow a self-created trust hypothesis which says, a cunning wolf should never trust another cunning wolf
"You caused trouble?" Maggie asked gasping with a shocked face, immediately jumping to a conclusion
"No Maggie, I was just being sarcastic" Abelia replied with a roll of her eyes
Another reason she isn't so close to Margaret is because she doesn't always get her jokes and sarcasm and she finds it difficult to crack a joke Maggie would get, most times when she talks and laces it with sarcasm, Maggie just goes ahead and tries to reason with her, leave Abelia fighting for control on her mouth as she has a smart mouth and Maggie takes offenses easily
"Really Abby, because I couldn't hear the sarcasm" Maggie replied hovering over Abelia who was starting to take offense at the questions Maggie was posing to her
"Well, it was obviously there, you just didn't hear it" Abelia replied with a roll of her eyes
She could sense that Margaret took offense but she couldn't care less, not when she had greater things to care about
"Where is the blood stain from then?" Maggie asked still hovering above Abelia, genuinely curious about what had happened and if Abelia would be the reason the rogue camp would have to end, again
Seeing that Abelia wasn't replying to her question, she called her name "Abelia"
"Why the questioning Maggie?" Abby barked at Maggie, causing her to jerk backward in shock, but Abelia was blind to that "I am not in a good mood please" Abelia replied in frustration
The last thing she wanted at that moment was a friend questioning her, in fact, the last thing she wanted was the presence of anybody, after all, she sent Noah away for a reason, aside from that fact, she wasn't feeling the need to accommodate anyone
"You don't get to shout at me like that when you're the one looking suspicious," Margaret said, angry at the fact that Abelia wasn't trying to reason with her
Before Abelia could give a smart retort, Maggie spoke up again
"You didn't show up for lunch and I couldn't find you in your tent, I was worried and when I finally saw you, you had bloodstain on your clothes, while looking worried, what did you expect me to think?"
"You could have thought that maybe I got injured while looking for how I'll pay up this week's camp dues, or anything other than me causing trouble!" Abelia said, angry at Maggie's train of thought, even though, in all honesty, she did cause trouble
"Don't blame me, Abby, I wasn't the one who had an episode this morning!" Maggie shouted back at her friend and that got Abelia quiet and confused
"We both know how you get whenever you have an episode, Abby," she said her voice a little mellow
