Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: To kill an king (part 2)

As he listened to the whispered conversations and exchanged pleasantries with the city dwellers, Callum felt a flicker of hope amidst the uncertainty. Though the road ahead would be fraught with danger, he was not alone in his quest.

"So there are rebels in Neolandia, but are stomped down hard. They could be used to my advantage. Let's find out where they hide, but remember not every rebel causes are good. Look at what happened to that city that flooded in my favorite cartoon because of the avatar."

With this in mind he went back to the in to change into his nightingale armor and looked for clues where to find the rebels.

He looked for it near the walls surrounding the city gates. Not much there was happening, until he heard a loud explosion.

''Stay calm. We will find the people who did this." The city guard commander ordened his guard to find the perutrators.

Callum saw two people running away from the scene. He sneakly followed them in the red light district. He saw them entering the brothal called "The Pink Pearl".

"Dammit. Why did they have to go in an brothel." Sighing to himself he went back to his in changed his clothes for the third time in the evening and went to the red light district.

As Callum made his way through the red light district, the air was thick with the scent of perfume and desperation. Neon lights flickered overhead, casting lurid shadows upon the cobblestone streets. As he passed by, he couldn't help but notice the longing gazes of the women who lined the alleys, their painted smiles masking the pain within.

"Looking for some company, handsome?" one of them purred, her voice laced with honeyed seduction.

Callum pretended to be an inoccent virgin.

"N...no, thank you, ma'am," he stammered, his voice betraying the innocence he feigned. "I'm just... just passing through."

The woman's gaze softened, a flicker of understanding in her eyes. "Be careful out there, darling," she said softly, her words a gentle reminder of the dangers that lurked in the shadows.

As Callum moved on, he couldn't shake the feeling of unease that lingered in the air. The red light district was a place of desperation and despair, a stark contrast to the opulence of the royal palace that loomed in the distance.

As Callum stepped into the dimly lit interior of "The Pink Pearl," the air was heavy with the scent of perfume and sweat, mingling with the faint aroma of incense. The sound of soft music drifted through the air, mingling with the murmurs of conversation and the occasional burst of laughter.

The interior was opulent yet tawdry, with plush velvet curtains draped over gilded furniture, creating an atmosphere of faded grandeur. As Callum made his way through the crowded main room, his senses were assailed by a cacophony of sights and sounds that threatened to overwhelm him.

Women draped in silks and lace lounged provocatively on plush divans, their painted lips curled into knowing smiles as they beckoned to potential clients. The air was thick with anticipation, a simmering undercurrent of desire and desperation that hung heavy in the air.

Callum moved through the throng with purpose, his eyes scanning the room for any sign of the two individuals he had followed earlier. He kept his movements subtle, his expression carefully neutral as he listened for any whispered conversations or exchanged glances that might betray their presence.

Finally, his patience was rewarded as he spotted the two figures seated at a secluded table in the far corner of the room. They were deep in conversation, their voices low and urgent as they exchanged furtive glances and gestures.

With a silent nod to himself, Callum approached the table next to them. He listened to their converstation. Then his listening was interupted by a beautifull women that was very curvy and had big breasts. She was wearing some sort of see through clothes with black lingerie.

"Hello handsome, welcome to The Pink Pearl where all you're desires come true. So what do you desire?" The beautifull woman in question asked in an sultry voice. To keep his pretense and not to get suspected from the people at the next table he did his persona again.

"Y...yes," Callum stuttered, trying to maintain his innocent facade as he glanced nervously at the table where the rebels sat. "I would like to have... um, a drink. Just a drink, please."

The woman's seductive smile widened, her eyes twinkling with amusement as she leaned in closer. "A drink, hmm? I can do that for you, darling. But why settle for just a drink when you could have so much more?"

Callum's cheeks flushed crimson as he struggled to maintain his composure under her gaze. "N...no, thank you," he stammered, his voice barely above a whisper. "Just a drink, please."

The woman chuckled softly, her laughter like music to his ears as she turned to fetch his order. As she disappeared into the crowd, Callum let out a sigh of relief, grateful for the temporary reprieve from her intense scrutiny.

"Keeping a facade in these conditions is very difficult," Callum mused to himself, a wry smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "I almost wanted to tell that woman to choke on someone's gentleman's sausage."

But he knew that indulging in such thoughts would only distract him from his mission, and so he pushed them aside, focusing instead on the task at hand. As the woman returned with his drink, he thanked her with a nod, his expression carefully neutral as he listened for any snippets of conversation that might reveal if these people were rebels.

As Callum discreetly listened in on the conversation, his heart quickened at the mention of targeting the capital's security. He was now sure that these people were rebels. It was a crucial piece of information, one that could potentially unravel the carefully laid plans of the rebels and expose their intentions to destabilize Neolandia.

He leaned in closer, his senses on high alert as he strained to catch every word spoken by the rebels at the nearby table. Their voices were hushed, their words laden with urgency and determination.

"We need to keep targeting the security of the capital," one of them murmured, his tone grim with resolve. "If we can breach the palace defenses, we can strike at the heart of their power and cripple their ability to oppress our people."

The plan of that conspereteur was pretty small minded in Callum's opinion. If they succeeded in their mission, it could plunge Neolandia into chaos and bloodshed, leaving innocent lives shattered in its wake. It would be much easier to give the people a figurehead to listen to. The voice of the people. To give them hope, warmth, an home, safety and security. Someone who stand for justice and fairness.

Smirking to himself. He had a plan in mind. To change the minds of the civilians an tricking the rebels in thinking he is an messiah. With that in mind he drank the rest of his drinks and went outside towards his inn.
