"Our boss told me to check on how the children were doing. I'm sending some people to pick them up — Sir Dominic's orders."
After hearing Dane's short phone call, Alfred couldn't help but cast Dane a side-eye. "Do you think that would work?" he asked out of plain curiosity. "If Dominic Zhu is here, I'm sure he already told his other people about your betrayal."
"That's right." Dane placed the phone down, his expression dark and solemn. "Knowing him, he surely would've given out a memo about me."
"Then why did you do that?"
"This is why I sometimes find partnering up with you irritating, Alfred." Dane clicked his tongue. "You're strong, but sometimes, slow."
Alfred frowned but wasn't surprised by Dane's remarks. It wasn't a secret in their group, after all. And even when he first met Dane, the latter directly told him the reason for recruiting him. It was his strength and fearlessness, despite his lack of intelligence.
