The sound of mechanical heart rate rang in the ward. Dominic sat steadily beside the bed, staring at the patient, who had the same face as him. His eyelids drooped, recalling how he got Silas to agree to his plan. 

It was hard to convince the man, especially since what he was asking was for Silas to give up his life. Dominic thought Silas wouldn't change his mind, until one day, Silas wrote him a letter. Everything from there onwards was done with discretion. 

"He said… he had always envied me," Dominic broke the silence with a quiet voice. "He had always lived on the sideline, watching me and comparing my life to him. All he could see was how I live so easily and how easy things come in my way."

Bear, who was standing guard by the corner, kept his eyes on Dominic.
