Gu Yang found the behavior of the butler and Tong Rao a bit odd.
Even though Tong Jiayin had been taken away by Lin Ran and his team, Tong Rao showed no visible concern. Gu Yang had visited the Tong family a few times before and had noticed that, while Tong Rao wasn't as emotionally close to Tong Jiayin as some mothers might be, she still clearly cared for and indulged her daughter. Tong Rao's indifference was unexpected.
Feng Jue accompanied Gu Yang upstairs but was stopped by the butler before he could enter the room.
"The Family Head has only permitted Miss Gu Yang to enter the bedroom," the butler explained.
Respecting the boundaries, Feng Jue didn't insist. Instead, he turned to Gu Yang and said, "Sister, remember that you have my full support. Don't feel pressured to compromise for anyone."
"I'll stay right outside the door," he added. "If you need anything, just call, and I'll be there immediately."
