Feeling unneeded, Robert suddenly extended his hand to Rex, who was confused but shook his hand as Robert stared at him intently.
"It was nice meeting you and your sister, but I have to go now," Robert said.
Rex was happy that Robert was leaving but saddened at the thought of Jasmine leaving too. On the contrary, Jasmine did not stand up when Robert did.
Robert walked a distance before returning and giving his car key to Jasmine. "Here, you can use the car. I will find my way back to the office."
He didn't want her to take a cab because she was a lady, but it was okay for him to do so. Jasmine was reluctant, as she didn't want to inconvenience him.
Besides, she could use whatever transportation Rex used. With a turn of her head in Rex's direction, she asked him,
"Rex, did you bring a car?"
