Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 – His long-awaited girlfriend.

Devin frowned a little but did not discontinue his action. Sabrina munched down before she glanced a Daniel Root, Robin's best friend who had a woman beside him as usual. He and Robin had a lot in common, the most basic being their attractive look and lure to women. Before she spoke, Lizzy said from behind,

"Sorry I took a long time but you did not bother to check on me."

She had a little frown on her face, directing her discontentment to Devin who was remorseful. But seeing the man who had asked Sabrina a question but was now looking intently at Lizzy as if he did not have a woman beside him, Devin smirked.

"Why should I worry? My long-awaited girlfriend returned after divorcing her unfilial husband."

His gaze remained on Daniel the whole time whiles he spoke, not knowing who he was but ensuring that he got the message. Daniel grimaced whiles Lizzy looked confused but seeing how Sabrina was just munching calmly, she bit back her questions for later.

"Sabrina, what is he saying? Who is he and where is Robin?" Daniel asked again, not believing what Devin had told him. He had last heard from Robin yesterday morning and had not been informed about this little news. Sabrina was a submissive housewife so this was all confusing, or a misunderstanding. Sabrina smiled at Devin a little flirtatiously before saying to Daniel,

"It's just as he said. We are celebrating my divorce. The papers were signed a few hours ago." She paused, seeing how Daniel raised his brows at the news. "You look surprised. Isn't Robin your best friend? Why don't you call and ask him?" She asked distantly, whiles picking Devin's cutlery and feeding him too.

Daniel's expression contoured and he wanted to say more when Devin accepted the food, munched, and continued to feed Sabrina, who also kept welcoming the food and nodding her head. Daniel was shocked, never expecting a woman like Sabrina to have had a man by her side who was not Robin. He wanted to say more when the lady beside him spoke.

"Babe, let's go. I said I was hungry."

Daniel's gaze fell on Lizzy as he felt his tongue tied. His cheek also pinked a little. Strange. He never run out of what to say and did the playboy just blush? Instinctively, he chose to address the woman beside him.

"Don't call me that. We just met, don't forget."

The lady frowned and asked, "we just met? Then what about last night?"

Sabrina smiled. She understood what was going on due to how Daniel kept looking at Lizzy, and said with dismay, "You and Robin are the same. It's okay that he cheats but you are surprised to see me with a man who loves and cherishes me right?"

Daniel opened his mouth but clamped it shut. It was natural for a man to have multiple partners but strange for a woman to have same. He stared at Lizzy again, unable to refuse or accept what Sabrina said. Sighing, he retorted,

"Whatever! It's between you and Robin."

After that, he began to walk away and out of the luxury restaurant with the woman he brought tailing behind him. 'God, that girl is so pretty and why did she take my breath away so much? I have to see her again but I did not take her contact,' Daniel thought. He also could not go back to take the contact he wanted and kept walking, irritated when the woman caught up to him.

At the table, Sabrina stared at Lizzy, smiled and said, "Congratulations Liz, he's crushing on you." Lizzy who had begun eating her food choked on it. She had not even noticed it because men were not a priority for her.

"It's normal for bad boys to crush on every woman who meets their eyes," Devin sneered, before recalling how he had not checked on Lizzy and added, "Sorry for not checking on you. I got carried away." Lizzy was still confused about the whole thing.

"I don't know what you two are talking about but why did you say that you were her boyfriend?"

"Because I have a feeling that he knows Robin. He could pass the information," Devin smirked devilishly, recalling how Robin looked earlier when he was leaving with Sabrina. He would make sure that Robin knew what he lost. His sisters were precious and though Sabrina slipped through his fingers because of their father, he was not going to let it happen again.

"That's his best friend," Sabrina revealed, making Devin congratulate himself at their little act. He only thought the person knew Robin but it was even better that they were best friends who shared the same habits.

"No wonder they both have no limit when it comes to women."

"Now he has eyes on Lizzy," Sabrina stared at her kid sister worriedly but she only brushed Sabrina's worry aside.

"Oh, then he's gonna be blinded real soon but hey, dad wants to see me. I think he's through with his meeting. I didn't tell him yet that you arrived so we could surprise him."

Hearing about her dad, a lot of emotions welled up in Sabrina once again. "I can't wait to see him."

"Then let's finish up because no one is wasting this food," Devin warned and they laughed. In less than an hour, the three siblings were standing in front of Mister Cobby James, Sabrina and Lizzy's biological father's office. Sabrina was very nervous. Lizzy knocked on the door and opened it after hearing her father's voice.

"Dad, sorry I'm late," Lizzy apologized but intentionally blocked Sabrina's view. Her father did not notice since his head was buried in something on his computer.

"It's alright, did your brother stop by today?"

"Yes," Devin said. Cobby lifted his head and smiled upon hearing the familiar voice. He already accepted Devin before getting married to his mother and has always treated him like a first son. Even though Devin was the CEO of the company he inherited from his late biological father, he always ensured to visit and have lunch with his dad or sister. The look on Cobby's face when his eyes met that of Sabrina was priceless.

"Sabrina?" He was already rising to his feet from the excitement. Sabrina smiled and began to walk towards her father, meeting him halfway. A meter away, she halted and they stood facing each other. It was as if the world had come to a standstill when Cobby saw his daughter again.

"Sabrina," Cobby said again before pulling her into his arms. She felt the warm tears that began to slip through the back of her dress but it was the same with Cobby. Warm tears wet his suit as well.

"Thanks for making time to visit after all these years," her father said in a small voice, choking on his tears. During their last phone conversation over two years ago, Sabrina had been upset and even yelled at him. She told him to forget about her, all because he told her to come back.

"I'm sorry dad. I'm very sorry," she cried upon recalling all the mean things she said to her father because of how she loved Robin and hoped that he would change and love her one day.

"No, it's not your fault. You love him and I understand. I'm happy you came to visit," her father comforted and assured her that it was alright but Sabrina could not stop crying. She pulled away and wiped her tears with the back of her hands.

"We divorced a few hours ago."

The revelation resulted in a shocking silence for Cobby before he asked, "Why? What did you do? Why did he divorce you?" Cobby was worried for his daughter, knowing how much she loved Robin. There was no way Sabrina would leave Robin at her own will. Sabrina could not allow her father to give reverence to Robin, thereby letting out everything,

"He brought another woman home so I asked for a divorce. He gave it because the woman is pregnant for him. Something he never got from me."

Cobby should have been happy about the turnout of events but he wasn't. It still looked as if Sabrina lost everything she ever worked hard for. "Your love should have been enough for him."

Sabrina was shedding more tears at his soft comforting words. She revealed through sobs, "But it wasn't. Last night, I thought things would improve between us because the pregnancy test, I took showed two lines but he returned with another woman. I could not take it."

"You are pregnant?"

Devin had a disappointed look on his face but most importantly, he was furious, recounting that Sabrina had not touched any wine when he urged her. He felt his heart shatter for the plans he had for her. His father noticed something off and asked Devin,

"It's a child she is carrying. Should we not be happy? Or is there a problem?"
