"And, it's a new day," Devon said as soon as he opened his eyes.
That was what he said, but there was no actual way to confirm if that was true because his room was still as dark as ever.
He never really liked sleeping underground but as he grew older he got used to it and now, he preferred to sleep down here than up there.
He sat up on his bed and slid his leg into his boots before making his way out of the room.
"I hope we get to go on some kind of grand heist today." He muttered as he made his way down the hallway.

'I wonder why it isn't filled up to a hundred but then again, I don't really feel the difference.' He said subconsciously as he made his way into a room on his right.
On entering the room, he was quite surprised to see that Michael and almost everyone was already there with the only one absent being Krayan.
"Wow, everyone's early today."
"No, Devon, you're late," Aurora said.
"Um….I think it's the other way round today, he's right on time we on the other hand arrived a little bit too early." Erina explained.
"You hear that, thank you, Erina, I'm glad we have someone like you on the team," Devon said.
"Um…okay," Erina said.
Michael always made sure that they started their day with some training to keep them fit for the rest of the day and the room they were in now was their training room.
That was pretty obvious given the amount of space that was in the middle.
"So, what are we doing today?"
"Keep quiet, Devon," Michael said forcing him to refrain from saying anything else.
"I only asked a question." He muttered.
"Today, we'll be having a two-phased sparring session where all of you will be sparring with your partners." Michael articulated.
"Um…." Devon said before raising his hand.
"I know, Emilia's not in good condition which is why you will be facing off against Aurora."
"Aurora? What happened to Krayan?"
"Krayan isn't here right now."
"Yeah, I can see that, is he still sleeping? Wait, I'll go drag him here."
"He's not sleeping, Devon," Michael said before he could get to the door.
"Then where is he?" He turned to his uncle to ask.
"He's out doing something important."
"Something important? Did you send him out on a solo mission?" He asked with a demanding face.
This wasn't the first time something like this was happening and this time, his gut was telling him that it was the same situation.
"Go and sit down, Devon, Krayan's whereabout is none of your business, you should focus more on making yourself better."
He knew there was no point in trying to say anything so he swallowed everything he wanted to say before he made his way to Emilia and sat down beside her.
"Alright, let's get into it, I said this sparring session was going to have two phases, in the first phase you'll only use the sticks and in the second phase, you're allowed to use your respective weapons. Did you all get that?"
"Yes!" They all responded apart from Devon whose mind seemed to be elsewhere.
"Hey," Emilia called.
She was sitting very close to him and he still wasn't able to hear her.
"Hey." She called again this time giving him a little tap on his head.
"Oh, you were calling me? Sorry, I was sort of lost in my thought there." He said before placing his hand on his forehead.
"What were you thinking about?"
"Oh, don't worry it was nothing important." He said before shaking his head.
"Really? Then why was it making you space out?"
"Really? It was nothing. How's your leg doing by the way?" He asked quickly changing the topic.
"I can walk with it but it hurts a little with each movement." She replied.
"Oh, have you asked Erina to speed up the healing process?"
"I did but she said it's better to allow it to heal naturally from this point."
"Oh, I see."
After explaining both phases of the sparring session, it was about to kick off and the first two fighters were going to be Alvis and John.
Both of them were holding onto long sparring sticks now and were standing opposite each other.
"Keep your eyes on me spice, I'm about to blow your mind, you too Rina, and of course Rora," John said as he hit the end of his stick on the floor.
Alvis on the other hand remained as quiet and calm as the breeze.
"It looks like the both of you are ready, now fight!"
As soon as John heard that, he quickly raised his stick and swung it toward Alvis who raised his own stick right on time to block it before moving a little distance away from John.
He was the one defending now as John was rapidly attacking with his stick in a desperate attempt to hit him.
There was no particular pattern or style to his attacks, he just wanted to hit Alvis.
When another one of his swings was blocked by Alvis, he quickly went for a kick which Alvis was also fast enough to block with his leg before immediately pushing him back.
"You try really hard when you want to impress the girls, don't you."
"Why won't I?" John said before quickly dashing toward him with his stick.
He spun it before attempting to hit his opponent with it once again but the only thing Alvis needed to avoid that swing was a simple backflip.
"Well, Erina is the only one that cares and that's only because she doesn't want anyone to get hurt, the other two don't even care in any way," Alvis said.
"Hey, keep quiet!"
Looked like Alvis just hit the trigger button there as John raced toward him with his stick.
This time he was swinging his stick in anger because of what Alvis just told him and that even made his swings more predictable and easy for Alvis to avoid.
Alvis easily dodged the attacks and when he was sure that he had seen enough, he knocked John's stick off his hand before pointing his at his neck.
"You shouldn't let things like this get to you easily, John."
"So, everything you said was a lie then?" John asked with a face full of hope.
"No, I don't just make things like that up."
That response was enough to send all that hope crashing to the floor.
"Nicely done, Alvis now it's your turn Devon and Aurora."
As soon as Devon heard his name, he let out a sigh before getting up from where he was sitting.
"Let's just get this over with." He said as he made his way to the area and picked up one of the sticks.
Aurora entered the area after him and picked up the stick on her side.
"Hey, do you remember what happened the last time we sparred?" She asked with a smile which Devon was worried about.
She never smiles at him, the only time she did that was whenever she wanted to do something mischievous to him.
"Um…no."
"Oh, that's a bummer, but don't worry, I'll do well to remind you." She said before pointing her stick at him.
"Sure, I'm looking forward to it."
"Alright, you two, fight!"
As soon as Aurora heard that, she swung her stick horizontally at Devon who immediately ducked to avoid it.
While he was still on the floor, she swung it down to hit him, but he raised his stick to block the hit right in time before rolling a little distance away from her.
"Seriously, can't you give me some time to get my legs ready?"
"You shouldn't have walked into the stage if your legs weren't ready." She said before quickly dashing toward him.
She was attacking rapidly now in an attempt to hit Devon, but he was doing quite well in dodging most of the attacks and blocking the ones that came close to hitting him.
"Hey, stay still!" She yelled before she sent him flying backward with a very powerful push.
Before Devon could get up, she was already standing over him with her stick on his throat.
"Well, that was easier than I expected."
Underestimating Devon was a normal occurrence but today she seemed to have made a mistake standing over both of his legs.
"Are you sure about that?"
"Huh?"
Before she could react in any way, Devon stretched both of his legs sideways to knock her off balance and while she was trying to get a hold of herself, he pulled his stick away from her and used it to push her down.
"Owww." She groaned before slowly opening her eyes to see Devon standing over her.
"Now who's on the floor?"
