"Alright, they're gone…"
Wang Xiao sighed in relief, seated at the edge of the bed, and reached out to pat Yue on the back. Yet, rather than letting him go, she only nestled closer, her face buried into his shoulder, clinging to him with all the stubbornness of a spoiled kitten.
He chuckled softly, already anticipating the days of pampered attention she'd demand. Not that he minded.
With a gentle lift, he eased her back onto the bed.

Yue's arms fell open beside her, her eyes half-lidded and dreamy, watching him with that unspoken, starry look he knew well.
She was waiting, like a flower waiting for rain.
"Dad…" Her voice was soft, almost a plea.
